Monsoon Grill has the most delicious Indian food I've ever eaten, inside or outside of Topeka. Whether you're ready for a full-course dinner or a buffet lunch, you'll find a menu that offers a variety of choices. The butter chicken and korma chicken are some of my favorites, but I can honestly say that everything I sampled from the buffet (and I sampled everything) made me happy. Whenever we're in Topeka, we make a point of visiting the Monsoon Grill. We've been several times, and have always been extremely satisfied. The staff is so very polite! The price is a bit above average, but dinner for two with alcohol won't break the bank. read more

Decided to go here last night for dinner, it was so delicious and yummy!! My boyfriend and I were traveling from Virginia to Colorado and saw the previous reviews and decided to give it a try. The waitress was very friendly and helpful when it came to choosing what to order. We ordered the plain Naan, traditional Dal, and Aloo gobi, everything was amazing and exceed our expectations! Based on their rating and number of reviews we thought it was a good indicator that the food would be good. We were not prepared for just HOW GOOD it was! The service and atmosphere certainly set the stage for a wonderful evening! We started with the Samosas. Perfect flaky crust and so flavorful. We ordered the onion naan which was delicious. Then we had chicken biryani and the lamb korma. The spices were so authentic and the heat levels were perfect! We had such a nice meal that we ordered desert to prolong the experience. The gulab jamun had a surprising amount of flavor due to the spices that popped on your mouth. The syrup was also delicious as it seeped out of every bite. I really enjoyed the rice pudding as well. We were not disappointed. This is the best Indo/Pak restaurant that I can remember eating at ever. read more

Each time we visit Monsoon Indian Grill, we find new favorites. All of the seafood, chicken, lamb, and vegetarian dishes we've tried are excellent. For appetizers, you can't go wrong with the veggie grill sampler or samosas. All of the breads are yummy. I especially like the Peshwari Naan; it complements the spicy food. If you're new to Indian food and don't know what to order, I suggest Tandoori chicken or shrimp. Monsoon is one of the few places in Topeka you can order lamb. The Lamb Tikka Masala and Lamb Korma are especially good. My favorite chicken dishes are the Tikka Masala and Shahi Chicken Korma. Vegetarian favorites are Baingan Bartha and Kofta Curry. The restaurant is tastefully decorated. It's elegant without being pretentious. The wait staff is competent and friendly. read more

Very friendly and helpful on the phone taking my order, offered to call if it was ready early. She called and I was almost there...she asked how my day was and before I left asked if I needed utensils which I would have forgotten. Food was delicious...excellent Saag Paneer, Tandoori Shrimp, Chicken Tikka Masala, Naan. What a find....I rarely give 5 stars but this place was a standout and a great option to all the chains surrounding it. read more

Is it possible that the best Indian food in the country is actually hiding in Topeka, KS? My husband and I have eaten in at least 50 different Indian restaurants, everywhere from San Francisco to New York, and are hard pressed to think of one that served a better meal than what we had here. Monsoon Grill lunch buffet is a place where you can get a variety of Indian dishes, for what that is worth. Let me preface this by saying I love Indian food, or at least I love the Indian food to which I have been exposed. In the great state of Kansas, we have some limited exposure to Indian food, though I'm always willing to try something new and see what a place has to offer. I've mostly had food that seemingly comes from Northern Indian branch, but I've been very receptive to most everything I've had. The Monsoon Grill lunch buffet is o.k., though a little spartan for a lunch buffet and the flavors one would expect. When we went, I believe there were six or eight total dishes available. The flavors were o.k., though I wasn't tremendously taken by anything. They buffet did include naan, though the naan was thick and a bit overly-chewy. The buffet also had a chai tea, though it was just mixed with milk and was completely unsweetened and a little bitter. I don't know if that is traditional, but I'm used to chai including milk and sugar. It's worthwhile to note that Monsoon Grill is located in the most inconveniently-accessible portion of the building. You can see the marquee from a road nearby, but you have to come through the parking lot and snake around to the side of the building to actually get to the entrance. read more

I'm a big fan of Indian food, and I've eaten it in many cities. The food at Monsoon was not just "good for Topeka", it was GREAT! My friend and I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Gobi, Dal, and a Peshwari Naan. The portions were VERY generous. We could have skipped one of the entrees, but I'm glad we didn't. All of the food was delicious. Service was also very good. So glad I skipped the chain restaurants. I will definitely go again. read more

I stopped into Monsoon Grill this past Saturday to check out the lunch buffet. To my surprise, there were several vegan options offered on the buffet!! Everything was delicious and the customer service was good too. I was very excited that they do not put yogurt in their veggie biryani! Haven't been able to eat Biryani for years because most places it's not vegan. I also ordered Gobi Manchurian from the menu --perfectly seasoned! Went to Monsoon Indian Grill for the lunch buffet. I had previously been to this restaurant for dinner, and wanted to try the buffet offerings. There is a nice selection of entrees on the lunch buffet. Two choices for rice - white or jasmine. Naan (Yum!). A small, but adequate salad bar and dessert. I appreciate that each selection is labeled. The servers were very helpful with explaining the ingredients and flavors of the entrée selections. Very consistent about checking on our needs during lunch. Even though this is a buffet, the servers were very attentive and interested in our experience at the restaurant. This fairly new-for-Topeka restaurant is nicely decorated. Tables are close together, but not so close that you feel that strangers are seated at your table. It was not so noisy that I couldn't hear my lunch companion. This restaurant is a little bit out of the way and takes a little work to find. It is located on the north side of 21st street near Wanamaker, next to Chipotle. You have to turn into the shopping center on Wanamaker. Look for the Michaels store. This restaurant is south of the Michaels Store and the T-Mobile Store, turn left, around the corner. There is parking right in front of the restaurant. I definitely will return to this restaurant for both the lunch buffet and dinner. read more

A friend brought me here a few weeks ago. We tried their garlic naan, the chicken tikka masala, and another entree that I cant remember. The food and service were good. Nothing spectacular. Standard Indian fare, although I wish we ordered our food to be slightly more spicy. I think the what stands out the most was I've never been to an Indian restaurant with no Indian worker or patron representation. I noticed the same thing at a Tex-Mex restaurant in Manhattan, KS called Coco Bolos with no Mexicans in it, but then again this is Kansas, where there is smaller ethnic minority population. I would definitely go back here, but I wish the prices for the lunch buffet were a bit lower. Buffet, drink, and tip was near $20--which was a bit more expensive for lunch than I would like. However, the food was very good! The buffet had several good options. The naan was out on the buffet line so a waiter came by our table offering fresh baked naan. Service was excellent as well. The food is authentic but bland. The decor is good, though the lighting is weird. The service did not measure up to the expectation the setting created. There are really better options in town, with better flavour and service. We were really just left to our own devices the whole time, very little interaction with staff. Waited a long time for our one water refill. It was just rather disappointing, and put me off wanting to return. Clean, yes. I am traveling in Kansas and the hotel staff said this was a great local spot. I previousbelieve the best Indian food I've ever had is a spot in Daytona Beach where I live. I WAS WRONG! This place is AMAZING!! The spices were DELISH and so fresh. The garlic naan was the best I've EVER had. Definitely recommend for locals and anyone traveling in this area. This place is great! I was pretty surprised since I haven't seen/heard/ate at any good restaurants in Topeka. My work colleague and I stopped here after a work training session and it was SO GOOD! We stopped in during the lunch buffet and I'm happy we did! The food was AMAZING! They had everything I loved and more! The naan was fresh and they had this cabbage that is so good and I've never seen it served at any Indian buffets. The rice and chicken tikka masala were awesome as well! The only downside was that it was so good, that all the chicken in the tikka masala were gone and didn't refill it as soon as they should have but that didn't stop me! Monsoon was the first Indian restaurant I had ever been to, and it really gave me a wonderful impression of Indian food. At lunch time, they have a buffet; everything is labelled so it's easy to identify what you're eating and know what you like. They have hot food and a cold salad bar, and they have vegetarian options. During dinner, you order off a menu. The presentation of everything is so beautiful, and you can request a "sauce plate" (that's what I call it anyway) to experiment with different flavors and augment your meal. They have quite a few different options on the menu, and everything my husband and I have ever had was wonderful. Difficult location for parking. Too many tables in a small dinning area, weak cocktail and servers bored and hovering. The table was so small our dishes, silverware and drinks barely fit. But the food was amazing. Had the onion naan, lamb tikka masala, mutter paneer, and for dessert the kulfi mango and ras malai. We ordered the entrees with a medium spice level and it was the perfect amount of heat - both came with rice. Think we'll order To Go next time. read more
