Dry rub chicken wings. Goodness gracious. Some of the best wings I have had. Can't wait to come back and try another dish.

OMG!!!!! My daughter and I were finally able to go try Nanny's Soulfood last night and it did not…read moredisappoint! We picked it up to-go, and it was difficult to not dig in on the way home, with the delicious aroma of her amazing food tempting us!!! We ordered the Wings and the Tilapia, with sides of mac & cheese, sweet potato, greens, and okra...needless to say, we devoured it! And the cornbread that was included with our meals was AH-FRICKING-MAZING...melt in your mouth good!!! We will most definitely be back, and I intend on trying everything on that menu...not all st once of course, LOL! But I will try a new item every time, knowing full well it will taste perfectly scrumptious!!! Seriously, it brought back such sweet memories from when we lived in the south, and of my husband's momma's cooking. Bless you Nanny's Soulfood for sharing your talent of cooking with Topeka!!! And yes, we felt perfectly comfortable and safe with all COVID restrictions being complied with in her restaurant! BRAVO!!

Delicious fried okra, fried pickles, fried mushrooms. Simple foods that are hard to find done right are done to perfection. Fried shrimp that is so good you don't need cocktail sauce or anything else to muddy up the flavor. The food is not the only taste of heaven Nanny's has to offer. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and I even left with a "Thank you Baby" that made me feel more like I was leaving a friend's house than a restaurant. Start your journey, find Nanny's. Give your soul the sustenance it needs in today's unforgiving world.

Let it be noted that when I arrived the name of this business had changed: the former Peachtree…read moreBuffet is now the Peachtree Cafeteria. Peach tree has been a favorite spot of mine for a number of years. It's been quite a while since I've come... Perhaps my last visit was pre-pandemic... And some things have changed. I'm not sure if it's for the better or not. First things first, the food is as outstanding as it always has been. I'm from the south and I grew up eating fried chicken, fried catfish, sweet potatoes, and greens. Every once in a while. I need a fix, and peach tree has always been my go-to to scratch that itch. On all of my prior visits, You paid on entry and served yourself from the buffet. When I arrived today, I noted the name change but I didn't think much of it until I walked in. Perhaps it was my prior experiences that caused the confusion, but now it is a true cafeteria style experience. I had trouble figuring out where to start, and rather than paying up front, you pay at the end of the line. That said, the staff was happy to help me figure out the new routine. Where before all menu options were available to every patron, there are now specific options on how you order: two meats and two sides, three meats and three sides... Etc. Formerly, the desserts were also available, but now are an add-on item. I'm disappointed not to have the number of options I formerly had, but, as I mentioned earlier, the food is still remarkable and the prices are fair for what you get. We live in a different day and age than we did before covid-19, and I suspect the changes made at Peachtree were implemented both for public safety and to maximize their profit margin in light of the skyrocketing prices in our current economy. While today's experience started out uncomfortably, and though my first thoughts were that I might not choose to return, once I learned the new routine and know how to proceed, I would still recommend Peachtree as a premiere Soul Food experience in KC. BUT-- my recommendation would be accompanied with ample instructions on what to expect when you arrived.

I ended up getting 2 meals to take advantage of the amazing prices and it was so much food. Everyone moved quickly and was extremely patient with me, since I didn't know what to choose because of the many options they served. Definitely recommend if you want the nitty gritty of KC!
