When I ordered from here I wasn't really hungry as I was recovering from a cold and didn't want much to eat. So I just got a sampler from the grill and of course... Garlic Naan Bread. Oh what a fool I am. So I had it delivered from door dash, small meal, exactly what I thought I wanted. Until I started eating. Then I wanted more, of everything. Every bit of food that touched my mouth I wanted more of and I would have happily spent my day snacking on the Garlic Naan Bread. So, if you think you want something small and light from here, no you don't. You want an actual meal and plenty of Naan bread. If you think you have ordered enough, order more. My husband and I stayed in Topeka for the night and found this place via yelp search. Everyone was right! First off, the food and the service is impeccable. We had a couple appetizers, the buttered chicken, the tikka masala, the garlic naan, and the onion naan (topped it all off with a vodka press too). We couldn't express more how amazing all of it was. This place is tricky to locate as it is on the side of a Chipotle but it is well worth the search! I asked for a great indian restaurant and this is certainly the place to go in Topeka. I am from New York City and I know good food. I can tell you that Monsoon Indian Grill in Topeka, Kansas has New York-quality food. Excellent and delicious all around. My favorite dishes are the tandoori chicken, the lamb korma, the onion naan, and the rice pudding for dessert. But everything else on the menu is delicious! What a gem! Virgil was our server and was top notch. He was a one man show and I don't know if I've ever seen someone do such an amazing job! I have eaten Indian food countless times, both at restaurants and at various family homes and events. And this food was some of the best I've had. Just tried placing an order on their website. Even thought their hours say they are open Tuesdays till 9pm both Grub hub and their personal website will not let me place an order and say the business is closed until tomorrow. I called on the phone and the number just rang and rang. Either they had an emergency or they need to update their hours. I got myself all excited to have Indian food tonight for dinner and drooled over their menu and yelp photos and then was greatly disappointed when I tried to make my dinner plans a reality. I love Indian food and was excited to try this place as it was highly rated. I ordered chicken tikka masala and onion naan- something I hadn't tried before but the waitress recommended it. I wasn't sure what to expect as I'm not a big onion fan, but it was delicious and not over the top oniony at all. It came with a nice tangy side of raita. My friend had the plain naan and it was great too. It was a little softer inside and thicker than most naan, but crispy on the outside- perfect in my opinion. The chicken tikka masala however was not among the best I've had. I found it too sweet, but the chunks of chicken were tender and delicious. I also ordered a mango juice which was lovely, though it had too much ice and was therefore kind of hard to drink. The ambience was nice and comfortable, and the staff was very kind and helpful. I would like to come again to try a grill platter, as I had major envy seeing them brought out on sizzling display to other tables. From the outside the place looks sketchy- the entrance is in an alley with a dumpster nearby- but don't let that fool you. It is a nice, quiet place to have dinner. read more

We had a very pleasant surprise dining here! We're from the San Francisco Bay Area, where there are many, many Indian restaurants all over. The food here was excellent! We had the best lamb biryani with delicious seasoned fried onions on top. The portions are generous and reasonably priced. The service was superb! They're a bit difficult to find in the back of a mall, but once inside, you'll forget you're in the back of the mall. If you're in Topeka KS, look them up, you won't be disappointed. read more

Such yummy food. The buffet has been closed for awhile for obvious reasons and that's okay. They have great table service. It's a very casual environment and I always feel welcomed here. They are happy to answer any questions you have about the menu I like to double check on the vegan items sometimes. And true to most Indian food restaurants, they have a good selection of vegan and vegetarian foods. It's very rich and flavourful food. Delicious. read more

We mostly dine in for either the lunch buffet or dinner, but tonight I got carry out, so here's all three: Lunch: Typical buffet of Indian staples, usually very fresh and well seasoned. The only downside is that everything is served mild, and lamb is rarely an option. Dinner: Reasonably sized menu with enough variety to satisfy most anyone. I would love to see goat dishes in the future. Carry Out: Still a great option if you can't or don't want to dine in. While there's always going to be a slight difference between food served fresh from the kitchen and food that took a twenty minute car ride, it was still good in its own right, and really what could be expected. Overall, very friendly staff and a great atmosphere has kept me going back for at least the last seven years. read more

In an area being quickly dominated by fast casual restaurants - Noodles and Company, Jimmy Johns, Chipotle - it's good to remember that Topeka can, occasionally, have really exciting new places that aren't just more chains. Monsoon is one of those places. I've been to several Indian restaurants both expensive and cheap in my day, and have enjoyed a lot of good curry and naan as well, and I must say this is some of the best I've ever had. On my first visit I had the lamb vindaloo, spicy but not too spicy, and sampled some of the tikka masala as well. Since I went with my family, I was very happy to see that the menu explained everything very simply without too many exotic words, and the servers, although they're all very young, seem used to lots of questions and ready to go ask the cook in the back if they can't satisfy your curiosity. Although their menu isn't gigantic they do have an equally large veggie meal section as they do a curry section, so they might not have your lamb korma (that I know of) but you can certainly find something new. The dishes are both clean and fancy, the spices are perfect and the naan, if you order it, which you should, is fresh and delicious. Although it is a pricey place for dinner, their food seems worth it. Definitely not disappointed. read more

Monsoon Grill is a hidden gem tucked behind a Chipotle. I've been here a total of 3 times and each time has been absolutely wonderful. The gentleman who I believe to be the owner of the place remembers me and my family every time. Indian food is one of my favorite cuisines and I've been to several Indian restaurants in Atlanta and around Kansas City but I have to say Monsoon Grill has been my favorite hands down. Their Chicken Tikka Masala is, in my opinion, their best dish. Adequately creamy, not drowning in oil. Other dishes such as the Mixed Grill Platter and Lamb Curry are solid as well. Their unique dinnerware added a nice sophisticated touch to the presentation of each dish. The food here is top notch and I would definitely return here again and again to satisfy my Indian food cravings. read more

This seems like a new place for topeka. I was up front and told my server I knew nothing about Indian food and she was patient and informative. That said, I wish wouldn't have been sat with the employees standing behind me wrapping silverware and training. My appetizer was delish and I would have it again. It was the mixed sampler.
