Pretty tough experience I had today. I got my nose pierced just three days ago and it had fallen out. I went back first thing in the morning to see if anything could be done, and they told me to come back in a few weeks where I'd have to pay full price again plus the jewelry (around$100). They gave me "$5 off" which was honestly laughable after I had just spent $130 three days ago. I ended up going to a different place and they were able to immediately repierce my nose and did not charge me for the reinsertion. Happy with the outcome overall but started off with a very bad morning because of my experience here. read more

Made an appointment in advance, the process was really easy. Everyone was really nice and friendly. The artist sanitized everything but it is not healing like any other tattoos we have. Literally have a half sleeve that healed with no problem but this is just bad all around. The tattoo is subpar. The shading is so patchy and the outline is so thin in some areas and then thick in others. Already planning to try and have it touched up or salvaged when it heals. This is the blotchiest thing I have ever seen. Maybe the artist was in a rush or just wasn't interested in the design but it definitely shows. The low quality of this is shocking. It is healing awfully. I don't even have words to describe it but tears have been shed. 4 stars for the friendliness and shop vibes But it's a 1 star tattoo. read more

A friend referred me to Ian. Went in for initial consultation. Made appointment for a few weeks out. Few days before I was notified that he had to reschedule and I wasn't able to take time off from work when he was available so I was rebooked for 11 months out. Roll around to that appointment and once again I get a text that he has to rescheduled and I am given four times. All within my work day. Meaning I have to lose pay to accommodate being reschedule on twice. The reputation of this parlor is amazing in our community but being rescheduled a year out then be rescheduled again is crappy service. I'm get life happens and this is sometimes unavoidable, however I should have never have had to wait a year to be on the schedule again. I don't have any faith in the service or making another appointment with hopes it will actually be honored. Time to find another artist. read more

I had a wild time here recently. Did a walk in with Heather (awesome lady) that was split into two sessions. I tried contacting the shop 5 times over the course of two weeks to get in to finish my tattoo. The counter person, Shea was extremely sketchy and rude to me every time. She would tell me she'll check with Heather and then ghost me. Finally i was told I could come in, and so i did. When i got there Shea told me Heather was not available, and told me i was not allowed to wait for an opening and I "should just leave". I was shocked at how rude she was considering how kind and sweet everyone else has been when I've been there before. COME TO FIND OUT Heather had no idea I'd been trying to get in this whole time and Shea was LYING to both of us and sending me away. I don't know what there is to gain by a counter person lying to potential clients and being rude but i can't imagine the impact this could have on an artist's client base. I was pretty anxious about if I would like the design and how the process would go since I have a bit of an unpredictable nervous system condition, but Angela was super cool about it. She freehanded a design that I completely loved and was careful to check in on how I was feeling throughout. She also let my goon friend come keep me company which was super sweet of her! If you're looking for a shop with management that cares or honors their appointments, look elsewhere. I scheduled a tattoo almost a month ago, but received a text two hours before my appointment telling me the artist didn't have "enough time" to complete my tattoo. On top of that, they offered an appointment almost a month out. When I called to speak to management, their arrogant attitude and response made it even worse. This isn't the first time they have cancelled on me, but I've always been told it's "worth it" because they're tattoos are great. Nothing is worse being treated like a lowlife consumer and having the management speak to you as if you're some low life scum just there to get a tattoo. My consult with Taya was very off-putting. She gave the air of arrogance. She didn't really listen to respond to my ideas, but I trusted her because I was told she was really good and to trust her judgement. Never again. Now I wish I wouldn't have waited the month it took just for Monolith to cancel on me again. I'll never, ever, ever recommend someone to this arrogant non-customer caring shop ever again. I just got my first tattoo done my Sienna and she was amazing!!! During the consultation she was great at addressing my questions and was super sweet and nice. My first tattoo was on my rib so we talked about numbing cream to help with the pain. Day of she was great with helping me change some of the things on my tattoo. I was getting some writing and wanted some of the letters changed and she was so chill about it! She made it perfect. She was great with placement too, and said that we can always change it as many times as needed. She wanted to make sure that I loved it and was comfortable. The tattoo turned out amazing!! I met with Keisha several weeks ago and we discussed my idea for a floral tattoo to represent me, my children, and my grandchildren. Keisha O needs to find a new career! Before you go to Monolith for that new tattoo, READ THIS REVIEW!! I had a nightmare experience with these clowns. I chose them because of their high google ratings. Goes to show, you can't always trust bogus five-star ratings. I sent Keisha three or four beautiful, realistic Buddha tattoos that appealed to me. The mess she made on my arm looks nothing like what I asked for. It is also so big and scattered, it's proving extremely difficult to fix. I have seen three other artists since and I'm still trying to figure out how to repair this ghastly scar. The first other tattoo artist I showed it to just stood there scratching his head and staring at it for several minutes. Then he said, "What local artist did this to you?!" * Keisha claimed to be a "master of color." Maybe if she was working at painting clowns' faces for a circus! (The pics I posted include Keisha's original, and some that were covered in black ink in a failed attempt to simplify the colors.) Keep in mind, Keisha chose these colors and she designed this piece. I don't know squat about designing tattoos. I showed her what I liked and trusted her. Whenever there was a decision to make, I deferred to her judgment. BIG mistake! * Besides being a poorly drawn cartoonish version of Buddha, the tattoo is the absolute wrong shape for my arm. It is way too long and not full enough. Instead of emphasizing the natural lines of my bicep, it destroys them. * The tree is a disaster. It comes up almost directly out of Buddha's head, with the leaves and branches shooting off at all kinds of odd angles. There is no naturalness to it. * The base of the tattoo is way too wide and it sits right along the narrowest part of my arm, then juts in. This destroys my sleeve line--one of the most important elements of arm tattoos, especially for men. It also has this weird straight edge along the bottom, making it look like a hatchet blade. * Then there are those funky things imbedded in the base that look like rotten, yellow teeth. And it's huge! It's just embarrassing and there is no clear way to repair it. One of my friends said it looks like it was drawn by a five-year-old! I have to agree. When I complained to Monolith about her "work," they had me consult with Edward, their head artist and the owner of the shop. Just minutes after I told the guy I thought the tattoo was too long for my arm and the base needed to be covered with something more appropriate like a lotus flower seat--especially those yellow teeth!--the guy suggested drawing what looked like cartoon tongues dangling from the bottom, just below the yellow teeth, making the tattoo even longer, down past my elbow. He said these were supposed to be leaves or something, but they looked exactly like tongues. When I asked what color he was thinking, he said "purple." I'm not kidding you. That was his solution. Drape purple tongues beneath the yellow teeth. It's as if these people think this is a joke. I don't get it, and I am definitely not laughing. If you are thinking of Monolith, run for your life! Don't forget this is permanent ink. Some of these people may have done some okay work, but they don't post their disasters on their website and my guess is many clients who have a bad experience like me are often too embarrassed to post about it. My take is simple: There are many talented artists in Central Oregon to risk having a permanent disaster inked onto your body by a company that accepts NO RESPONSIBILITY for their artist's messes. read more

First time getting a tattoo.. they scheduled under an hour to create the tattoo along with the consultation. They were sent a picture by email and came out 3 times with SAME picture and nothing changed. Saying they couldn't make the EXACT pic of the tattoo we wanted.... First time hearing that..... artist wanted to have thier OWN art on your body.. not the exact pic. Time ending up running out and the artist refused to continue that day and wanted ME to reschedule... keeping my deposit! I went in for just a consultation. I showed my printed ideas and wanted to talk about it. The man that came out to talk was rude, corrected my words when I said s*%& (it's a tattoo studio and I was trying to be casual!). I initiated the whole consult, asking him to do this or that. He never recommended anything other than making a simple tattoo that I wanted about the size of a lime, the size of my palm- stating it would lose detail (I'm aware of certain consequences but I've had three other shops say they can easily do it). I was rushed out and did nothing other than hand my printed ideas to him and asked when I'd like to place a deposit. I didn't feel comfortable at all with that and was told if you call within 3days I could get my deposit back. Will update if they actually honor that... not personable, could clearly see he thought my ideas were stupid, and didn't care one bit about anything but my money. read more

Got my first tattoo here in October, 2010 from Ryan Osborne who is an A-Mazing artist! I went and talked with Ryan about what I'd been visualizing and made it clear what I did NOT want and he went to work drawing up a custom design. I was kind of worried because I didn't feel like I was very good at describing what was in my head and I didn't have any pictures or examples but what he came up with was exactly what I wanted! For a tattoo virgin, Monolith is not intimidating at all - the front waiting area is bright and clean and professional and full of amazing art. Everyone I encountered was so nice and welcoming, from the front desk staff to the other artists. Ryan is very quiet and patient and made the whole experience very pleasant. In fact, we were so impressed with him, my friend and my husband both ended up with tattoos from Ryan shortly after mine! I've now relocated to Las Vegas and am planning another tattoo (ok, so I'm planning several of them, but my bank account says whoa, honey, one at a time). BUT...I have yet to come across a local artist's work that I like AND a shop that makes me feel as comfortable and welcome as Monolith.
