My roof still looked OK, and I was confident that it would go through at least one more winter without leaking. There was a certain amount of low-level stress, though, whenever I thought about my old roof, so I decided to get a new roof. I got two estimates, but I liked the idea of A Better Roofing doing the new roof 32 years after they did my first new roof. I also liked what I read on the A Better Roofing website on their "About Us" webpage https://www.abetterroofing.com/about-us/ and their estimate was lower than the other contractor's estimate. The A Better Roofing crew removed the old roof then installed the new roof, all in one day. Since I got good results/value paying extra for upgraded shingles in 1994, I paid extra for upgraded shingles in 2026. :) After my new roof was installed and I had paid, I told Christian that A Better Roofing had installed my previous new roof in 1994. He told me that more than half of their business is referrals (a new roof owner recommending A Better Roofing to someone else who is ready for a new roof) and repeat customers (like me). In the process, he dropped a power tool on my $10,000 Air Conditioning condenser unit. He knew full well that he damaged the unit but didn't even have the decency to tell me that he did it. I only discovered the damage when my AC technician came out to do annual maintenance on my system. I then checked my security cameras and saw the recording in which Owen carelessly dropped a power tool on my unit. It took more than 6 months for Owen to pay me for the repair of the unit. He insisted that I use his contractor when I clearly preferred to use the company that installed and services my AC system. Ultimately, he only paid me half of what my installer charged to repair the damage. This too only after I submitted a fraud claim to the Attorney General, Better Business Bureau and with the State Department of Labour and Industry. This business is run by an unscrupulous scumbag devoid of ethics. Avoid at all cost.
