If, however, you enjoy drinking beer that actually tastes like beer, go anywhere else. Monkish has a lofty, entirely undeserved reputation that reflects California beer drinkers' warped tastes: They cater pretty much exclusively to people who love bitter bongwater suds that reek of sulfur and children's tears. Monkish is the archetype of the undrinkable-but-worshipped California brewery -- sixteen IPAs and one sad, soapy afterthought of a pilsner. There's no food on offer aside from whatever vendor might be visiting, and he was sold out when we visited. As for atmosphere, expect lots of unsupervised children running amok while patrons shatter glasses. We cut our visit even shorter than usual because one bartender kept interjecting in a voice so loud that it literally startled us each time he made chit-chat with other patrons. A small brewery right next to the Packing House! Parking could be a little difficult to find on a busy day ( May need to park down the street by the Packing House and walk over). Small indoor area with a TV inside. They do have a larger outdoor area and it would be good for large groups. They specialize in hoppy beers, like IPAs, I actually really enjoyed them! Has a smooth citrusy taste to their hoppy beers! Approximately $5 for 6oz pours and about $10 for 12oz. I like that they do the half pours, it allows me to try other beers! In short, it's a hidden gem with great beer, just needs a little more weather-proof space. I came here with a buddy after hearing another friend rave about Monkish making his favorite beer. Surprisingly enough, parking was challenging because it's right next to the Anaheim Packing District, which loves up to its name by always being packed. So we parked down the street and around the corner, took a shortcut through the Packing District, and through a festive, lit walkway to the brewery. The place is pretty spartan on decor, but has a nice covered outdoor patio that is surrounded by foliage. Unfortunately, the covering was not waterproof, and it was raining pretty heavily rendering the searing wet and unusable. Inside, however, we were able to find a couple seats. We both tried a couple Belgians, which were strong and delicious. The guy at the register really knew his menu, gave great recommendations, and let us sample a couple to help us to decide what to drink. The limited holiday ones we tried especially were great. Overall, great spot to enjoy a good brew or two. I'll come back when the weather is better so I can enjoy the patio. read more

For fans of sour beers, this is a gem. They have lots of good sours. There is not that many seats inside but why stay in when you can bring your beers out, and enjoy the sunshine while sipping those tasty bevs? I recommend making a stop at this brewery if you're in the area. read more

Such a fun spot to grab a beer and hangout with friends. After coming to the Pop up farmers market this was perfect t to grab a beer and hang with friends. They had a fun vendor selling burgers as well and they smelled so good. This place has some of the best IPAs around. I used to drive to Torrance location but I no longer have the need to do that since Anaheim is much closer to me. The inside is pretty small but they do have a nice size outdoor patio area. I definitely enjoy the vibes here, listening to underground Hip Hop while sipping on a cold beer, you can't beat that. The parking can be a headache due to the fact that it's right next to the Anaheim Packing District. My bf and I stumbled upon this brewery as we finished eating dinner at Georgia's. OMG! This area is amazing! I had no idea it existed until I searched for Soul Food places. We ordered the Hellish German Ale as we wanted something light as we stuffed ourselves. The brewery wasn't packed, and I loved the outdoor seating. The beer was delicious, which is what I was expecting. I can't comment on the price as it was my bf's treat, but I'm sure it didn't break the bank for two pints. The servers were sweet and, as a Hello Kitty fanatic, I about lost my mind when I saw a Twin Stars Stout. I didn't realize how terrible the parking is, so I broke down and parked valet. The best $10 I ever spent because ALL of the street parking was taken. There is so much to do near the brewery that we are going to spend more time hanging out on our next visit. read more

It's perfect to sit outside in the breeze while enjoying a beer or inside in the AC. Staff inside were very nice & friendly. Only downside here is the parking situation during peak times, otherwise, this place is a true gem! Beautiful brewery with a large patio seating that offer sun and shade. The beertenders were super friendly and knowledgable and we tried a few of theirs ipas that were all really good. Very much enjoyed my visit to this location on a trip down from SLO. Staff was extremely friendly, the location itself was low key and easy to hang at, and the beers we had absolutely lived up to the hype/elite status they've garnered in the craft beer space. Can't wait to visit again in the future to try other beers here at their Anaheim Packing District location and eventually get to the Torrance one as well. Special shout out for the beers we had on draft - Adieu Adieu & Water Balloon Fight Club - both Hazy IPA's. These both knocked our socks off and we took home 4 packs of the WBFC. This place has the best local New England IPA's. Had a Little Twin Stars non barrel stout which was a deep roasted coconut flavor. It's very annoying that when you pay for your order there is this NIG pop up window that asks you to leave a tip. Had several people go and pick me up some canned beers and they felt bad and tipped the cashier 18 & 20% just picking up beers for me on top of what I gave them for doing me a favor. So, I find this super annoying because if I go to the grocery store, Total Wine, BevMo, to purchase beer, I don't tip TIP the cashier or feel obligated or feel bad about tipping the salesman my hard earned money for tipping them to sell me cans to go. Understand that it's craft beer but the brewer isn't the one receiving the tip for his excellent skills. read more

I came here for my birthday right before closing, but was still able to get a taste of one of their specials. Being back in this space, brought back so many memories when the previous owners had their business at this location. Unfortunately, some of the design has changed but still has that great feel as soon as you walk in. There is plenty of seating in the patio to enjoy your time with friends and a great drink. Inside is pretty small and I am sure this place gets busy on weekends. I tried the Feminist which is a triple that tasted pretty good. It was smooth and I definitely tasted the hint of hibiscus. I had a couple of other choices on my radar, so I will definitely be back to try some more favorites from the menu. Note: This is located right next to the Packing District so it can be hard to find parking. I lost count how many times I've been to Monkish. I am not a big beer drinker but it changes when I visit this spot. Their beers are just super tasty and I cannot compare the layers of flavor to any other beer or brewery. And I been to many in LA, OC, and out of state. Not one beer/hard seltzer (No Umbrella) that I did not enjoy here. There's just something special in their brew that makes you want to drink them or drink more... but just be mindful, their ABVs are on the higher side (most, but not all.) They offer half pours; perfect, if you want to try several. The staff is super friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I tend to ask for recommendations or what their current favorite is and it never disappoints! They're always moving (serving, cleaning, etc.), so the place is very clean, and well stocked (water jug, cups, restrooms). The lines are quick. They can handle a crowd well. The customer service is always 100! My friend and I live in Orange County but had heard great things about Monkish Brewing in Torrance so we were trying to get over there. We heard they opened one in Anaheim (i.e., *in* Orange County) so we made our way over. The location is very close to the Anaheim Packing District. Wonderful beers. The Feminist is a triple and has a great tangy flavor. The Stout is sweet, more like a porter, but with those delicious coffee-ish, chocolate-y flavors. Highly recommend. I do wish they had some food or snack offerings. Maybe I'll trying bringing a little of my own next time. read more
