Ebi roll, and 68 Roll. All three were great, but our favorite was the Rolls Royce. Now that we've found this little gem, we'll be making it a regular spot! read more

Great food! Great service....Questionable bill..... It was my first time dining at this location. Our server was kind and knowledgable. I ordered a cocktail that is normally served on the rocks, but requested it be served up( most places, if not ALL other restaurants) have absolutely no problem doing this-in fact, you have the potential of losing more beverage this way-but its a preference. When the bill came, the server did not make me aware that there would be an "upcharge" for this.....this.......strain? Was it really worth it to not only charge me for this, but also make me unaware of the charge? The ambiance was ideal for a low-key date night, a tucked away redefined Asian place off the beaten path from the crazed DT Roswell Friday night. Jess was our server & absolutely made our night. Her energy and passion for the menu was delightful. All her recommendations were spot on & she truly listened to what are dislikes and likes are. Cocktails are craft & we enjoyed the Hidden Dragon and the 160 Rabbit. Jess got us to get cold sake & we were not disappointed! We went rolls & loved the cooked rolls '68, Mt. EBI. When we went, I was expecting some usual sushi spot but no- this was a much more creative take on those Japanese fusion flavors. Everything from the food to drinks were incredibly flavorful. Honestly, I was shocked at the amount of flavor in every bite, from the small apps to the ridiculous amount of sushi rolls we ordered between the group of us. Will absolutely be returning! What a fabulous addition to the historic Roswell food set! First, the ambiance was wonderful, the restaurant is laid out in two levels, it's much bigger than it looks on the outside. Also, it's gorgeous, calming grays, minimalist design, it's beautiful. The food was fantastic. I would have been happy with just the kimchi rice pot and the bang bang shrimp. Slow heat on the shrimp - well flavored. Broccoli was good, braised short ribs fantastic (and will be awesome in the winter when it's chilly out). Our friends ordered the Smoking Dragon cocktail and it was fun to watch them make this concoction. If you like old fashioneds, try this one. We had two rolls- Gangnam style (short rib roll- savory) and the Whoa cano (Yum! Crab and other goodies- my favorite!) Overall, great meal, great service from Ashley. I've only been here once, but quite frankly, I would love to go back. It's essentially Korean-inspired dishes served tapas-style. In other words, small portions, large prices. ;-) Kidding. It's not that bad. It's near the Swallow at the Hollow on Green St if that means anything. Also, it's valet parking. Take some 1s. I got the kimchi fried rice (yeah, yeah) which is served in a jar thing and quite good. Along with that, a few rolls, bang bang shrimp, and poke. The poke was really good, but it's not going to fill you up. Al fresco dining is a nice option (but no view to speak of.) Interior is quite modern and multi-level if what I saw was right. Nicely done. The menu is extensive enough to probably go back a few times without tripping over something you already tried. Gather some friends and check it out. read more

This place was a pleasant surprised. A friend recommended it so I decided to try it out. I made a reservation for 8:30 on a Saturday, unfortunately, only indoor seating was available. When we arrived they kindly sat us outside. The food was absolutely delicious. My favorite was the Toro on Fire roll. I'm craving it as I am writing this review. Had this place bookmarked and it was close to my chiro appointment so off I went. It's on the side street near Canton Street, which is the busy road in downtown Roswell. Thankfully I got there early so there wasn't any troubles parking in their lot. They have an unpaved lot behind the restaurant. They also offer valet but I was so early that wasn't even an option yet. I really like the ambience here. It's got nice lighting with good mood music and vibe. The owners own One sushi in Brookhaven and also Katana in Buckhead. Apparently this place got its name based off of horoscope animals and the owner is a monkey. My friend and I found our Astrology animals and decided to order drinks according to our signs. I got the XOXO ox. It had St. Germain which I love and Bulleit whatever that is. It was an interesting drink but not something I would probably get again. In addition to cocktails they offer wine and sake and beer. For dinner we both decided on a roll. To me, I thought the prices were a little steep. I think the sushi rolls were around $13-$18 a roll. I decided on Twilight which had spicy tuna albacore with micro greens and fried onion. It was pretty good. I actually liked my friend's roll better though, the Lady in Red with flash fried eel. I got a side of spicy mayo but I did not find it spicy whatsoever so I ordered a side of Sriracha to go with it which really helped. They offer small plates like bang bang shrimp, ribs, fried rice, and salads. You can order the chefs choice for $90 a person. I will be pretty mad if I were still hungry after that. I have to admit when I left I was still kind of hungry and ended up getting an ice cream cone on the way home. Maybe next time I'll try their dessert. Service was good. Sushi was fresh. I will rave about this restaurant, and it is well deserved: Food: Was there with my wife for dinner on Saturday night. I have had great sushi in Japan, San Francisco, Australia, Guam, Las Vegas and many other places, and this was some of the best sushi I've ever had. In fact, the way they served their fatty tuna belly sashimi ($28), smoked at the table when served, gave it this incredible flavor that every sushi lover must experience at least once. (See pictures) My wife sincerely said it was the best sushi she has ever had. We had two other specialty roles that were recommended by our server, Andre. They were outstanding. Service: Exceptional. Fantastic. Our server Andre made great recommendations, was polite and always kept our wine and water glasses full. He was a professional. It was a fine-dining level of service. All of the food was excellent. The smoked toro, the shooters and especially the bang bang shrimp. They don't have many non alcoholic drinks. No sweet tea or anything just coke and sprite in glass bottles. We sat outside which is fine but the flies did not stay away. read more

If the bang bang shrimp wasn't so good I would give this place 1 star. I was very under impressed, if that's even a word. The drinks taste good. But after two I had ZERO buzz at all. I've had sushi from Publix that taste better. The kimchi rice was decent, but once we reached the bottom we noticed our rice was undercooked. I would not recommend. Set just behind the bustling Canton St. across the way from another terrific restaurant, Swallow at the Hallow, and next to Greenwood's on Green Street, Monkey 68 always seems to do great business even if it lacks the street visibility of other downtown Roswell restaurants. I love sushi, and this is the best sushi I've found away from the west coast. They have an inventive, fun menu full of dishes like beef bone marrow (I'd never had it before and am so glad I branched out to try it!) and original sushi rolls. Their desserts rotate but are always fantastic, and their servers are very familiar with the menu. Monkey 68 offers several original cocktails, each designed to pair perfectly with a different year of the Chinese zodiac. Make sure to tell your server your birth year so they can make the best recommendation! And then you can do what I did and order something totally different but enjoy it anyway! read more

Wow! What a great date night and restaurant ! I was pleasantly surprised at this place as other Roswell downtown restaurants are somewhat overpriced and overrated . This one has came out on top and we will definitely be back! There is complimentary valet available but also free parking down the street (not a far walk at all) so it's manageable. Tip! Make a reservation if you want to come on the weekend. They get packed quickly and the waiting area is very slim to none. Once we were seated we looked over the menu and the server was very knowledgeable on cocktails and all menu items. Every question we threw at him, he was able to answer and give a great recommendation. This place is mostly tapas/small plates easily to share small samples with a group of 2-4 per item ordered. The timing of each dish we ordered came out at the perfect time. (not all at once and didn't have to wait for the next dish for longer than 2-3 minutes) Uni toast was excellent. There wasn't a strong pungent taste of uni and it was creamy and complimented well with the jam. Toast was nicely crisp and not soggy. Each sushi roll was amazing. We waited at bar for table, had a drink behind the plastic covid wall, we were told table was ready but we waited until I had to ask to be seated....The atmosphere was LOUD....After we were seated at the least appealing table (not reason for bad review) our sweet waitress sold us on the mini plate appetizer of wyagu beef Carpaccio style ... later to find it was $35 for a minuscule portion. I love, love love! carpaccio, so I'm quite familiar with the usual offerings. Surprisingly it took for forever for us to receive our aesthetically prepared approximately ( 1/4 oz Ha! Or less) serving. The marbling was "spam like" and was so tiny that it was hard to discern its authenticity. The Korean meatballs stuck to the bottom of melted cheese..meh Good dishes were the Korean fried rice and the Poke.... But the desert???what a joke. Monkey 68 was the perfect fine dining experience anyone could expect. This sushi restaurant is located in Downtown Roswell, in a house-looking location where I would have never expected a sushi restaurant to be. I was impressed with the exterior & interior, and it really set off a great ambiance. Our server Kevin was extremely kind and helpful in deciding what to order. We ordered the yellowtail shots, Toro on Fire Roll, Chanel Replica Roll & the Lady in Red roll. We also ordered the 6pc nigiri, which included 2pc of toro, 2pc of wagyu & 2pc of kinmedai topped with 24K gold sprinkles & caviar. The rolls were all very delicious, and the nigiri was so delightful in every single way. The pickled wasabi was an excellent accompaniment to all the rolls & dishes. Every single thing we ordered was delicious. The beef dumplings were soft but so flavorful! The bang bang shrimp perfectly fried with enough sauce to be tasty but still crisp. Both sushi rolls were really good, but the Twilight was our favorite. The food came fast, and we were full and leaving in just 30mins. Excellent new sushi place in Roswell right on Green Street across from what use to be the Swallow at the Hollow. The restaurant is in what must have been an old house much like many of the other businesses in the area. They have a nice upper seating area with a sushi bar and then you can go downstairs and eat in what used to be the garage. The inside is very modern and has a clean and trendy vibe. On to the food. One side of the menu is for kitchen based items and the other is for your sushi options. We tried a variety of options including the Korean style Miso Soup, Poke, Yellowtail Jalapeno Shooters and few sushi options. The soup was excellent and reminded of a play on Soft Tofu soup which you can get at many of the Korean restaurants around town. The Poke was sliced perfectly and there were no chewy pieces like I've experienced in other places. The sushi rolls were tasty and the Uni was about as good as I've had anywhere. Monkey 68 is a great addition to Roswell with an eclectic menu and I highly recommend it. read more

Something about the menu had me SUPER excited to get to this place. I walked in to a very friendly staff on a Saturday just after they opened. I grabbed a seat at the bar since I was just me and I love to chat up bartenders every now and then. I cant say enough how great the bartender was! He had great menu suggestions based of the things I told him I liked; he even tried to give me some good drink parings...I pretty picky about my cocktails, so I kept it simple with some sake. I had the She's So Fresh roll. The rolls were a little small for the price, but it to be expected for a fancy place in what seemed to be a bit of a hipster area. I consider myself a bit of a sushi snob, and though small they packed lots of taste. The flavor profile matched the modern feel that the restaurant gave. Dinner for 2 ! Yes, finally a place where we can feel like we are in another world while having a nice date night out away from the kids! From the outside you get the same historic downtown Roswell look but step inside and you are in a new little oasis. Super cool atmosphere nonetheless. Food: AH-mazing! Hubby and I were excited to try this place out. when we arrived we pulled into what looked like a open parking lot and driveway next to the restaurant. There were no signs and no visible people in this drive way or parking lot. As we pulled in to the parking lot we were both startled by someone banging on the side of our car, it was scary and dark outside so we didn't know what was happening. My husband rolled down the window and some teenager who had been apparently sitting in the back of a pickup truck said this parking lot had no self parking. So my husband asked where can we park for the restaurant, the teenager replied that they just work off tips or we could go find something on the road. After his rude and startling behavior we did not trust this person with our car keys and decided to eat some where else. The teenager went right back to sitting in the back of the pickup truck as we turned around and drove away. If the restaurant wants to have valet only parking they should have signs or visible people to valet the car. We have never minded paying for parking but the whole experience was unprofessional and unpleasant. read more

Ambiance and atmosphere is great. They somehow balance a sophisticated, quiet date-night atmosphere with a local Roswell "here for the game on the TV at the bar" feel all into one building. This is not your typical sushi restaurant. 1. Reservations and Valet Parking (valet is required, not optional, so bring your tipping cash) 2. The menu is also full of Korean dishes, and there is Korean fusion in a couple of the sushi rolls available. 3. Full bar available. Delicious and fun cocktails on the menu, as well as a good sized wine selection that includes both International wines and Pacific Northwest wines. Beer selection also. 4. There are none of the classic rolls on this menu. You will not find a California roll or any of its variations here. Instead you will find Twilight and Sex & The City, and every roll description is quite interesting. Plan to experience something new, because they don't have any of the old standbys here. 5. This place is not inexpensive. For just two of us, having only 1 drink each, sharing one tiny appetizer, each having only one menu item, and a dessert, our bill before gratuity was $100. It was a great experience, but I think outside of a special occasion now and then, it's above my pay grade. Small parking lot and I noticed mostly luxury cars like Tesla and Maserati. What an amazing experience at Monkey 68! My best friend brought me here for my birthday and it was fantastic. Our server George was wonderful. He was super knowledgeable and had great recommendations for cocktails. My friend wanted a cocktail that she had there on a previous visit but it was no longer on the menu. The bartender came over and asked her what it was and she knew exactly what my friend wanted and was able to make it for her. The cotton candy cocktail was my favorite! It was a great way to display the cocktails. Our food was fantastic. We had the calamari which was the best calamari I'd ever had. Very meaty, not super friend and the wasabi lime sauce was amazing. We next had the sushi roll with wagyu and truffle salt. I could have died right there it was so good! We had the cheese steak which is a perfect size for two people to split and we had the sex and the city sushi roll which was also wonderful.
