My new favorite sushi restaurant. There's an outdoor patio and the inside is beautiful. Very tall ceilings and the bar is really nice. We arrived exactly at 5 pm on a Thursday so we got the best seat in the house. They have an amazing happy hour from 5-7 pm. Most rolls were half off and we tried a reisling which was great. The rolls were very high quality fish and the portions were decent. My favorite roll was the spider roll because it came with seared salmon which was a very nice surprise. We also stumbled here during restaurant week so my husband tried it and ordered the toro ceviche, nigiri special, and black cod. Everything was amazing. What really shined was the service and how attentive the servers were the entire time. They always came around to check how our meal was going. I felt welcomed and it was great dining experience. Will definitely be back.

Monkey 68 never disappoints. The sushi was FRESH and delicious tonight. We had the Chanel Replica (pictured below) which is just buttery smooth and beautifully presented. We also had the Lady In Red and Toro On Fire -- both of which are robust in bold flavor and spicy. Don't sleep on the Tuna Crunch appetizer either, it might be the most delicious thing on the menu.

Located in Roswell, it's in what I would call an up and coming spot. The patio outside looks like a great spot to dine when the weather is nicer. Inside is an eclectic mix of modern meets rustic but it's nice. Gives off casual vibes with upscale notes. We ordered the bang bang shrimp and Brussels sprouts as our appetizer. My sister got the LOL roll and I got the Rolls Royce roll. Absolutely loved both appetizers. The shrimp were nicely sized without being drowned in a mayo-based sauce like some places do. They had real flavor and were seasoned subtly. The Brussel sprouts were also very good. Both were easily sharable as the portion size was nice. I was not a fan of my roll. I initially thought I was given the wrong roll, but I was able to find a small piece of lobster in one. I'm still not 100% sure I had the correct roll though. My sister's roll was not that great either and she wasn't a fan of it either. She usually gets the Spicy toro roll and regretted trying a different one. Overall, I think the hype my sister gave me about this place may have been a reason I was let down. Service was good and the menu has a lot to try so I will still go back and try something else.

Picante Roll

The food and service is always consistent. We tried the Kimchi Fried Rice, Brussels sprouts, tuna crunch, bulgogi cheesesteak, yellowtail jalapeño shots, twilight roll and picante roll. All were delicious and we would get each and every one again, but there are so many great options on the menu we will be going back to try more.

Love this place! Great service, great drinks, and super fresh fish. We also ordered the picante roll (not pictured) which was delicious as well. Close to historic Roswell too so you can walk around afterwards and enjoy the evening.

First time visiting Monkey 68 and it will not be my last. Went here for girls night and you can see that we ordered half the menu lol. Everything came out fresh and our server was great. She was very attentive and answered any questions that we might had.

Good apps, drinks and sushi in historic Roswell! Cute patio. Free parking a block away or complimentary valet at the restaurant. Really loved the tuna crispy rice and the asparagus fries!

This is my favorite spot in Roswell! Jane was lovely and made our experience excellent. Brian the sushi chef is very talented as well.

Sadly I don't remember the names of the rolls. They were a special. Brussels sprouts shown in the middle they are truly great.

I attended a business dinner at Monkey 68 on Green St in Old Town Roswell, Ga. Parking is steps away in the public lot at the end of the street just shy of Alpharetta Hwy. We had a drink while waiting. Tried the original cocktails. I had a sort of old-fashioned topped with applewood smoke. Pretty good but different. We had the specials which was a king salmon sashimi topped with salmon roe and more. Very, very good. We had a couple of rolls that were dynamite. Plus following the instructions from my daughter, I got the Sweet Chili Brussels sprouts which were amazing. Monkey 68 is definitely worth a try and likely a repeat visit.

We were looking for a quick bite and drink in the downtown Roswell area and settled on Monkey 68 based on their cocktails and sushi menu. I had been previously to the Alpharetta location so I was curious to see what the Roswell location was all about. We started with cocktails - I convinced one of my friends to try the smoky Hidden Dragon while I ordered the Rooster in the Clouds. Both cocktails are super instaworthy but they didn't taste as mind blowing as they looked or as I had hoped they would. The Rooster in the Clouds was a bit too sweet for me after the cotton candy melted into the cocktail. The Hidden Dragon cocktail pours out in a cloud of smoke but the cocktail itself didn't seem super smoky. The 160 Rabbit is also pretty sweet but a pretty cocktail to sip on. We tried some apps to snack on while sipping our cocktails. We shared the kimchi fried rice which really hit the spot. The Yellowtail Jalapeño shots are the perfect tasty palate refresher and great for sharing. The Tuna Crunch was just ok - paled in comparison to the other two bites we tried. Overall, I would love to come back and try other cocktails and sushi options. But will definitely ask for a less sweet cocktail next time...

I can the out of control sushi and it was amazing. The smokiness and flavor of the fish was just right. The rest of the table had some grilled salmon and ramen and all of which received raving reviews. The dark look in the restaurant makes for a lovely spot for any sort of celebration or date night. Service was just alright - a little situation of unhappy employees and small asks going unnoticed but nothing that hurt the experience ! We will be back

The low lighting was wonderful for my sensitive eyes. The smell was clean, but not too strong. They were open late, which was wonderful for me and my friends, for we were craving ramen at around 9:30. After we were seated, the service was quick (but that could be due to the late hours.) The first server seemed a bit quiet, but like a wonderful person. Our second server was no doubt one of the sweetest people I have ever met. We had a wonderful conversation about how the small restaurants are always wonderful. She was radiating positive but gentle vibes, so I felt my nerves slip away. By her, I was informed that the owner was usually in (most likely he wasn't there then because of the hour), which only proved that this food had and will always be cooked with love. And after my friends mentioned I was writing a review, she was eager to hear it. At the time it was just notes I took, but she was so pleased and that entire night I received so much praise. I had ordered the strawberry ramune, in which I was most shocked at how it tasted like true strawberry. But the lychee...it was on a whole other level. I had never had anything lychee flavored, but I felt as if I was soaring in the sky and diving in the deepest ocean. Then for starters we had edamame and pork gyoza. The edamame was well salted, and I had found usually edamame is either too salted, or not salted enough, but this edamame stayed in the sweet middle and tasted like it was straight from the Earth itself. The gyoza is most wonderfully cooked, and it feels as if I was floating upon the clouds, looking down on the world. The flavors were subtle, but so delicious. I got the spicy noodles, (but I have forgotten the name), The noodles are creamy, and I can only describe this feeling close akin to an enchanted forest. The pork was meaty, and the fat is easy to seperate if you are not for the fatty part. But then...the broth. In an instant I am shocked, frozen in pure awe at the flavors that danced in my tongue, and that most wonderful burn of spice, no doubt, they knew how to use spices perfectly. Overall, the ramen felt like what one would call a home, warm and comforting, as the tastes embrace you with open arms. With the atmosphere and taste combined (as well as the wonderful Japanese music that played), I felt transported to my own world, one without the stress of life and worries of future. Just great food, and a smile on your face. Wonderful, absolutely wonderful. No doubt deserves praise, and it almost makes me sad how unnoticed this hidden gem is. The noodles would soak in the flavora of spice so perfectly, I found myself addicted. For a desert, we ordered strawberry and mango mochis. The wonderful server brought us multiple, because she knew what our stomachs -satisfied, but not full- craved. The Strawberry mochi was wonderful, and tastes refreshingly authentic. And it felt as if I was just a slight cloud which reflected a rainbow. And now, the mango mochi. I'm not a mango person, but this tasted like no less than a sunset, with the beauty, the feeling, the overall bliss. I leave with the most wonderful taste in my mouth, and an undeniable want for more. I must thank all of the workers who made this place so special, for this is the first time I've had proper ramen, and this was no doubt the best provider for that satisfying first bite.

This is not your typical sushi restaurant as evident from its long sushi bar to its upstairs private booths. We were one of the first to arrive for a weekday happy hour and enjoyed trying various sushi, miso cod, and cold Japanese beer. We wish that frenetic Lily's was not the next sushi exploration stop on our progressive activity as we were spoiled by Edo's tranquil environment and quality food at Edo. The hamachi kama yaki was a lovely presentation of a very large grilled collar. Our request to modify the orange blossom roll for regular tuna instead of spicy tuna and no mayo was not a problem either. The jalapeno yellow tail roll was generous portion and again- hold the mayo please! Very pleasant and non rushed service. Only odd note were the photos on the menu- guess that was needed before diners became more familiar with the cuisine. Plenty of parking in its private parking lot in the N. Point shopping area. Looking forward to our next visit!

It's a small restaurant but the nostalgia of the interior cannot be denied. And it turned out some of the staff are from Hawaii too so it just adds to the warm, friendly atmosphere you can expect from a place like this. As for the food, just as good and impressive. My dad and I had their chirashi or rice with different seafood varieties and my mom had one of their teishoku or combination plates. They said it's a sushi restaurant but I guarantee they have more than that at Tanaka. If you decide to try it, which I recommend you do, call and make a reservation because unfortunately you can't do it online and it's a small restaurant so it's better to call ahead of time anyway. Once you try this terrific restaurant, it's worth it!

There are so many thoughtful little details in the décor that make it feel special. Every server and staff member was genuinely kind and impressively hospitable, offering a level of service that honestly surpasses some higher-end restaurants I've been to. Now, the food. Their ginger salad might be the best I've ever had. They use romaine and green leaf lettuce instead of the typical iceberg, which gives it far more flavor and texture. The dressing was smooth and creamy--not broken, watery, or overly acidic like so many ginger dressings tend to be. The miso soup also had more depth of flavor than most versions I've tried. A bonus surprise: they have more lunch options than what's listed online, and the in-person prices are actually cheaper. So don't rely on the website--come in and look for yourself. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and sushi roll combo. They offer a generous selection of rolls to choose from, and I went with the Alaskan roll. The filling was plentiful and well-balanced. The rice on the outside was slightly thin in a few bites where the seaweed peeked through, but the overall flavor was excellent. The chicken teriyaki was outstanding--juicy, tender, perfectly seared, and full of rich teriyaki flavor. I also appreciated the unexpected cold bean sprout salad on the side, which added a nice contrast to the meal. Overall, this was a wonderful lunch at a very fair price--only $15. I'd happily return and highly recommend stopping in rather than making assumptions based on appearances or online listings.
