Monk & Mongoose Gourmet Coffee is so needed in the Highlands Ranch, CO and Lone Tree, CO area. It's been here awhile but I finally went in this afternoon. I'm so glad I did! I ordered an Americano which usually has a pretty strong coffee taste. I basically spent $5 on coffee flavored water. Gas station coffee is better. From what I could tell (which wasn't much because of how watery it was) the coffee wasn't even good quality. Their chai tea is a concentrate and just tasted cheap. I was seriously disappointed! I'm huge coffee lover and love independent shops for their charm and ambiance. Monk and Monngoose did not deliver. (I would give no stars but that's not an option) read more

Great selection of teas, the staff was soooo sweet and awesome, the whole location is really clean and cute and perfect for getting work done. Also yummy cookies :). I do wish they offered multiple sizes of tea to go, because the cup is pretty small -- also no lid so I burned my hand instantly walking out of the door. But! The place was a little too "hipster" for us as we were just trying to find a good local coffee house. They had a very limited menu and it took more than 10 minutes to get two lattes with very few people in the cafe. It appears they only have one size latte, 12oz (small) which cost about $5 with a flavor shot. Seems significantly more than a small latte at a national chain. While I think locals may find it a cool place to hang out, study, etc., those traveling through town may not get what they are looking for here. I wouldn't go back. read more

In the Highlands Ranch and Lone Tree area this is the best you will find. They use Sweet Bloom beans which are some of the best I have had so far in Colorado. The only other beans that can compare, but are further out in Denver are Novo and Boxcar. The ambiance is cool, minimal, clean, modern, and baristas seem to understand coffee. Pricing, is a little bit more than Spur (in Littleton, also uses Sweet Bloom), but to save drive time it may be worth it unless you live close to Littleton. The price of beans however are about the same. I gave four stars because refinement of the craft is still developing, and price is slightly high. Otherwise, if you are a coffee snob like me this is the best you will find in the area. read more

Solely based on the nice response I recieved, I tried M&M again, and then again. Both times the coffee tasted better and will be a replacement for Starbucks when I am not running late for work. I like that they have pour overs and always a nice selection of treats. It's always super clean in here, and service is usually good, but today the barista who served me was a bit cold. My father and I got two pour overs and a cookie. I smiled, complimented her outfit, and even gave her a tip and didn't even receive a smile. I understand we all can't be peppy and happy all the time, but her attitude just seemed sour. Coffee was great! I had the Ethiopian pour over, which they make it right in front of you (and make right). The environment was even better. It's clean and well lit with great seating. Cool fireplace with comfy couches/ chairs. Workers were knowledgeable and friendly. Could tell a lot of thought went into this place before they opened. Definitely coming back. read more

Made my first visit to Monk and Mongoose after driving past for months while it was under construction. My latte had a good flavor, though it wasn't very warm, as someone else had commented. I never order my drinks extra hot from other coffee shops but might consider it here next time. My husband got a hot chocolate (he's not a coffee drinker) and that wasn't good at all, the chocolate wasn't mixed in, it was chunky and watery tasting. It's not a very kid friendly place (we had our energetic 5 and 3 year old boys with us), though that was sort of to be expected for a high end coffee shop. They do have outdoor seating, though. We ordered two slices of banana bread, and those were good--thick with chocolate chunks. I'll be back, sans kids and husband, for an extra hot latte. read more

Good coffee, good service. Parking is limited and it seemed like most people walked or biked here or maybe just lived in the condos this coffee shop is built into. I loved the natural lighting with the open garage doors and there was a lot of seating. I think the pricing was pretty moderate and I did like that they sold some of their merch (hats, shirts, thermoses) and coffee. Definitely would go back if in the area again. read more

I initially had my doubts about this place after my first visit, but after several trips and sampling of the menu, I can safely rate this place 5 stars! The staff is always friendly, the drinks perfect and the pastries tasty. You can tell they use high quality products to make their perfection. The espresso has a nutty sweetness to it that perfectly balances the initial bitterness that is the bean. By the time its smoothness finishes visiting all of your tastebuds, the flavors have come together in a very satisfying way. read more

I am extremely disappointed with my service and coffee at Monk & Mongoose. I've gone on multiple occasion and it's the same thing over and over. I really want to like this coffee shop but honestly at this point I'd rather make my own at home. First off their staff is rude and belittling. They always have some kind of attitude going on. And it almost seems like a bother to have to serve you. Second there have been multiple occasions when I come in and the baristas are more engaged with their friends then taking orders or interacting with customers. Third their coffee is a hit or miss. The baristas did an awful job on my mocha latte yesterday. It tasted like plain milk it barely had matcha in it. But there have also been times where they do a great job (when no distracted by socializing). I do not recommend going here due to the hit or miss coffee and the rude baristas. It's a shame because this coffee shop is in a great location and had a really great aesthetic. Like I said I've really given this place a lot of chances but it always disappoints. read more

These guys are killing the game! Amazing delicate coffees from one of, if not the best roaster in Colorado. Phenomenal baristas with the biggest heart for their neighborhood. As for their space, they have white quartz counters, sliding garage doors and a fireplace come on! They're the best addition to Lone Tree and I'm stoked to see them grow. read more

They have good coffee but the service is generally poor. It's very obviously to tell because some of the employees are chummy with regulars and then turn around and act standoff-ish to anyone else. It's unfortunate because I generally enjoy the coffee. Also they have often messed up my order even though my orders are not elaborate. read more

Beautiful. Cannot say how smooth the batch brew was. Loved it. Also had the pumpkin bread and thought it was very tasty and not dried out.
