I arrived 10 minutes early, nervous and unsure. Jessica greeted me warmly while she was finishing another client's hair. At my appointment time, I was still waiting... and I started to get a little frustrated. But then I stopped, took a breath, and decided to just observe. What I saw changed everything. The client in her chair loved her hair but asked for a few more strands to be installed. Instead of rushing her out or saying no because she was already behind, Jessica smiled and said, "Of course!" Just then, another woman walked in visibly upset -- her hair had been ruined at another salon that her daughter convinced her to try. Jessica didn't tell her to come back or make an appointment, she didn't scold her for going somewhere else, why? The woman was embarrassed enough. She gave her a hug and immediately started helping her. Meanwhile, her assistant welcomed me, got me to a chair, brushed through my hair, and began color matching me. She mixed multiple shades to create a custom blend that matched my hair perfectly. That level of care? Unreal. For the next two hours, I felt pampered, seen, and heard. Honestly, it felt like I was hanging out with an old friend -- that's the vibe she creates. I even watched her work magic on the client sitting next to me -- a woman who wore her natural hair, no extensions. She shared with me that she regularly comes in for cuts, highlights, and blowouts, but extensions weren't in her budget since Jessica uses extremely high-quality hair, her hair had lost its volume over the years. Jessica didn't blink. She disappeared to the back, came out with a few strands (again, at no charge), and asked her assistant to install them just to give the woman a bit of fullness where she felt she was thinning. That woman was so touched, she teared up -- and honestly, so did I. As for my own install? Flawless. I asked for tweaks here and there, and not once did I get attitude or pushback. It was my first time visiting this salon and I went in for a blonde touch up. Usually I get a bleach and tone on the whole head, but the girl just painted the roots and then toned the hair, which I thought was a little odd because no one had ever done that before, but I was okay with it if it produced the same outcome with a shorter time. The whole process took about 1 hour and a half and the amount of time she let the toner sit on the hair was skeptical, but in the end the color came out a nice icy blonde like I wanted. Here's where the story takes a turn. 2 days later I was styling my hair, which required me to part it. I had two mirrors, one in front and one behind me so I could see what I was doing. Please do not go here. I took my girlfriend here to get balayage done here. We came in for a consultation to which the owner Jess informed us that she would be able to do the hair that she wanted. (Reference picture below) we showed her the picture and we're told that she would be able to achieve that look and color. The day before my girlfriends appointment she is called and told her appointment is cancelled. She then called back again and told her that it's no longer cancelled but can she come in at 1:45. So far it was starting off very unprofessional. Girlfriend talking: When I arrived for the appointment I was sat in the chair and after about 10-15 minutes two ladies worked on my hair. They bleached my hair and left the bleach in for almost an hour and a half. One of the ladies checked my hair and noticed it was red, which was not the intended color, but still left me under the heater. While I'm sitting and waiting they kept leaving me unattended. By the time they finally wash it out it was noticeably red and somewhat yellow. Check the picture below. They then tried to cover up the mistake by with toner only to tell me that in a few weeks it will wash out and the horrible job they did will show. They then expected me to still pay $150 for what I did not ask for. The owner was not there but spoke with me over an employees phone. Where she just said over and over again that this is what happens and that I don't understand how hair works because I'm not a professional. She was very rude over the phone and saw no reason to come to a resolution but instead insist for me to pay because they did the balayage and that it's just hidden under the toner. We went back and forth for over twenty minutes while the owner reminded me of me not knowing about hair and telling me that I have to come back to her for a year if I want to fix it. She told me it would be a slow long process to get the hair where I wanted. The owner was very rude. I walked out with hair that was dark brown but will turn red and orange eventually. My hair feels dry and brittle. I am extremely unhappy with this experience and will never go back to this salon. Update 2/19/2022 I normally don't write reviews but made an account just for this reason. Really look at the reviews before going here. Some of the reviews feel fake. Today I woke up to receive an additional charge of $170 that thankfully was flagged by my bank due to my spending limits I set. This is ridiculous! They charged me without my permission and then the proceeded to let me know she wish she could charge me. The second charge would have been more than the agreed amount from the beginning. They were fully aware of my hairs history. I was still told that it would work and I would get the color I want. I was told that my hair would be beautiful. A-MAZING! The outside of the salon is very basic, but once inside it is very cute and simple/clean. The lovely young lady who shampooed me did an excellent job with water temp and watching my ears, and her nails made for wonderful massaging. After reading the reviews (and looking at the pictures) I decided to take the plunge and give this place a shot as my hair couldn't really get any more plane than the original state I came in with. I had them match my groupon price (as its better for the business) and they did. I have a purple halo, 1.5-2" of my hair is thepurple shade, then it goes to an array of different colors, one being pink... I text her that I hated it, she told me to come in. Extremely unprofessional. I came here for a balayage and my stylist continually complained about how much work she had to do because my hair is thick and long. Then they repeatedly accused me of "lying" when I said I had virgin hair (I mistakenly believed it was because I hadn't dyed my hair in ages and had a huge chop afterward.) finally my stylist tells me to "never come back." I would give this place negative stars if I could. I purchased a groupon for an ombre, deep conditioning and a blow/style. When I got there I showed the hairstylist a picture of exactly what I wanted (by the way, she was the owner of the salon). She proceeded to tell me that because I wanted a darker color on my roots, that she would have to charge me extra. I was thinking it would be 10 dollars but it was 40!! An ombre is supposed to go from dark to light and if I hadn't gotten any color it would have been a faded out red to blonde. It took her three hours just to do the ombre part which didn't leave me time to get the conditioning or blow dry. After I went home the color looked NOTHING like the picture and so I called back to schedule an appointment for them to fix it. It was scheduled at 11 am. The day of, they called me to confirm my 1pm appointment. I told them they orginial said 11am and they responded with "oh well, can you come in at 1pm? I agreed, but when I went the lady said she did what I asked for and if I wanted it fixed she would have to charge me another 30 dollars. I wasn't impressed. I dyed my hair for the first time with them and had to dye it again because my hair did not look the way I wanted from the picture I showed them. They weren't really transparent while doing my hair either. Pretty sure they ran out of dye - and didn't tell me. Further look into my hair the back wasn't well done at all but they had the whole salon hype me up in a sense so I felt confident leaving and got home and hated it. I really wanted to like this salon so it could become my new go-to place, but 5 hours and a botched color job later, I'm very disappointed. I went in for a balayage, and like someone commented before me, I don't think my stylist knew how to properly do it at all. I think the common theme of the good reviews for balayage are the ones from Ryza. My appointment was originally supposed to be with her, but to the detriment of my hair, I got someone else when I arrived. Short story - I ended up with very un-blended, unnatural looking highlights even in a different color shade than I asked for. Long story- After the toner was put in, I ended up with light bubble gum pink where bleached instead of a deep red. To correct it, two stylists colored my hair a second time with toner, opting for a different tint of red, and I ended up with slightly darker pink hair. They seemed to be unsure/at odds about which color to try next. I was not confident in them at this point so I said no to trying more red for a third time (which I'm sure would have just ended up more pink) and suggested something dark that would mask the pink so I could at least leave the salon. They used blue, which Ryza suggested when she chimed it (which also leads me to believe she knows how to color/what colors play off each other). It worked to counter the pink, but left no resemblance to what I asked for and no real difference from what I had before. It was unclear how the color looked when wet, so my hair had to be dried to tell, effectively ending the service to them. Once dried it was obviously not what I requested but no further attempts were made to rectify it. I was charged $50 on top of the ($75) Groupon, $25 for length which I expected, and $25 for the toner which is NOT listed in the fine print. I voiced my dissatisfaction and was told only that "the toner will fade and you can try again in 3 months" and "everyone's hair is different." I had managed my expectations that I, of course, wasn't going to look exactly like the picture, and I know hair can react different to picking up color, but this is nowhere close and they did not offer an appointment for me to come back and fix it, or even re-tone when it fades. This was on April 8th, and now 2.5 weeks later, the toner has faded a lot and you can really see how bad of a balayage it is, even bad for highlights. She "face-framed" too much so there is a chunk in the front that is way lighter and out of place with the rest. So $125 later (plus tip, because I still tipped since they did try for 5 hours) I'm left with hair that was processed 3 times and is extremely disappointing. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. My daughter and I had concurrent appointments both using Groupons. The salon was advised we were using Groupons at the time of booking. We arrived on time but I waited an hour and 30 minutes to be SEATED in a chair for my hair cut and total time in salon was just under three hours!!!. They dragged out my conditioning for 40 minutes while stylist worked between me and a hair extension client. The shampoo of 6 minutes and a cut with blow dry that two different stylists performed had lots of time in between actual service. Really? For a cut, condition and blow-dry? The service received by my daughter was all told closer to 1.45 with excessive wait. Still an obnoxious amount of time when she had booked an appointment. The big negative for her was the stylist kept complaining that she wasn't aware that my daughter was using a Groupon. This made her experience really uncomfortable and should have been taken up with the receptionist not the client. Next came the up-charges for long hair $$. I tried the previous owner of this salon because I couldn't get back home and it was okay and she matched my regular salons prices! This is my review from July 2016: Got to the salon and apparently surprised the receptionist who told me I was early for my appointment....Well yes, that's the proper thing to do when you're having beauty services performed. I was asked to be seated and offered a bottle of water. I waited less than 10 minutes then I was then taken to the washing station where I was given a deep conditioning treatment while they prepped for my cut. I have to say the staff was very friendly but maybe it was my cues or the stylist personally want not to take the cut too far and turn it into something I may not like but she definitely played it safe with my haircut. It honestly looked like no hair had been cut at all and the bangs I had requested be cut in were very long and blended in with the hair style instead of standing out. Again, I think this may have been a cue she picked up from me a noticed maybe I was uncomfortable and didn't want to cut too short. Side-bangs are a tricky thing and if you mess them up, you run the risk of ruining the way they frame the customer's facial features until they grow back out, so I can somewhat understand her taking the safe bet. All in all, I didn't have a bad experience, but I think I should stick with my normal stylist when I'm looking for a specific cut and style. I made an appointment for my granddaughter to get her hair styled and full makeup for Homecoming. I spent $120.00 for the worse express up-do and makeup ever. I think one of her friends could have done a better job. She left looking like a clown this is no exasperation. The eye shadow wasn't blended she had white circles around her eyes and there was absolutely no contouring of her foundation. The eyeliner was crooked and not consistent it was thicker on the left than the right. when I made the appointment I asked if the person doing the makeup was certified as a makeup artist. I was told absolutely so I had no worries that it wouldn't be good. Sadly she had to wash her face to remove the clown makeup so I could redo it for her. Went to this salon over the summer because of a Groupon I found & I can't remember the name of the person who did my hair, but they did an amazing job. I talked to the stylist about how I don't get my hair done often because of the price & I have thick hair so that's an extra charge.. she explained to me that their prices aren't like any other! I was shocked by this! Now I recommend this salon to everyone I know because there isn't a deal like it anywhere in NoVa with the customer satisfaction that they provide. Monet Salon is a far drive to almost Chantilly, but it's worth it. Danielle will listen to all your pickyness, as you describe how you want her to perform these impossible feats on your hair, turn it this color, etc... and then she will consult with you for at least 10 minutes on how she is going to do it, before she even starts. She is friendly and laid back, and will take her time to give you the best haircut of your life - she was trained in France for decades. I've been going to her for over 6 years, and there is no other place that will listen to me describe the impossible, then give me a color, cut deep condition, blow dry straight my curls, and call it a day at less than $150. And if I'm still not sure she got it right, she always offers for me to come back in a week and she will redo. CANNOT BEAT THAT! Tip that woman well!! read more

Found this salon on Groupon and decided to give it a try based on the positive reviews. I waited nearly 30 minutes with wet hair before sitting in the stylist's chair. As I sat there waiting, I couldn't help but notice how outdated and dirty the salon was; however, it didn't bother me so much since I was using a Groupon. The stylist was friendly at first, but once she realized I was using a Groupon her attitude changed instantly. She told me how she was going to charge me extra to cut my hair, but she couldn't tell me how much because she had to speak to the owner. She proceeded to tell me that I should never purchase Groupons for salons and she went on and on about it. She also at one point began making negative comments on the original length and color of my hair, which was completely inappropriate. In the end, the cut was acceptable - nothing more and certainly nothing that would ever get me to return there. Stop offering Groupons if you don't plan on accepting them according to the purchase terms. read more

I came to this salon based on the previous Yelp reviews. I was looking for a place with stylists who knew new trends and will follow through with my requests for my haircut. Unfortunately I don't remember the stylists name but overall I was very impressed with the salon. It's a nice, cozy environment. The lady who cut my hair was really intuitive with her opinions for my hair cut and I was very happy with the overall product. I will go here again and not have to worry about paying high end salon prices but moderate prices for the same quality. read more

My daughter and I have been coming here for a few years and are consistently happy each time we leave. The entire staff is wonderful. Danielle is amazing and has wonderful assistants that help her. My daughter goes for the trendy look and whether it's Danielle or Darlene she always leaves happy. I drive 20 minutes to get here and won't go anywhere else. I highly recommend you try this salon. Note they do take their time to ensure you leave with the right cut, color and style. So make the appointment for a time that you are not in a hurry to leave depending on your needs. read more
