I heard about this place from a friend and finally stopped in recently. I happened to be in the area and dropped in, with a tote bag in hand. First thing the waitress asks is if I have booze in the bag. I had to pass a bag inspection but then I was good to go haha she had said they were having issues with folks sneaking in booze. Okay no doubt about it but this is a dive bar. However, this dive bar is safe, clean and cheap which most dive bars aren't . Staff were super friendly and you can tell that this is where locals meet. Great drink prices. Food is super limited. We were in there because we got a coupon for free chicken wings. Everything really is deep fried or unhealthy. What you have are burgers, smokies, fries, chicken wings, fried chicken, and donairs. Not a single salad in sight. I would have liked to see something like a hummus platter which is pretty easy to do or nachos. We ordered the donairs and the chicken wings and got some drinks. Service was quick. Food was decent. Food was really good considering the prices. I will definitely come here again for a drink or to play pool. read more

Tried to stop in for a drink this evening. The pub reeks of smoke... it was so bad that we had to leave.

This is probably the best dive bar in the area, and perhaps the only place for cheap pints and grub left in Edmonton! It's been recently renovated so is clean and nice, but still has the old local pub feel. Lots of regulars, bartenders know them by name. Our server was very attentive, I had a few pints of Traditional Ale $4.75 and after 4pm everyday there's $3.50 wings of which my partner and I shared a few baskets. They were small, but yummy and crispy and fresh. THere's a special everyday that's ridiculously cheap, I didn't try it, because I had wings, but on Friday when we were there, there was a choice of A beef smokie for $2.50 or a chicken burger for $3.50! 2 pool tables, 2 dart boards, vlts and a jukebox program make for good entertainment, and they encourage long stays. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Really the cleanest, best renovated local old school pub I've been to. Within walking distance from my house, you can be sure to find me there again! read more

There is no other place in Edmonton where it is so bad it's good.... As to quote Neil Young "you see the losers in the best bars, see the winners in the dives". You can be drinking beside a gentleman from Kenya one minute and talking to a native polar bear hunter the next (no shit). The dress code is pretty much anything you want to wear and the Karaoke is off the hook.... How many times have you gotten to watch a bartender clean up blood off the floor at the same time as a crew of ex cons do an Eminem set! Was I scared at anytime? No. On this part of 118ave a smile and a beer bought for someone makes you an instant friend. If you're looking for a non-pretentious, cheap and friendly watering hole where you could quite possibly meet some really cool people with even cooler stories stop by here for a beer or ten. Trust me the more beer you drink in that place the more fun and interesting times you will have. And don't worry about the bouncers, they just use the locals, who are more tough and scary than any mouth breather you'll find on Whyte. I have to say that this is the brightest, airiest, modern, renovated, modern washroom, dive bar I've been in. They have tv screens, pool tables, VLTs. And really good and inexpensive chicken wings. Cheap beer. So kind of a locals bar. Limited food and mostly deep fried. Hard to find a veggie here. Staff were pleasant. Kind of like a sports bar. With Oiler game beers priced at 3.75, free pool on Sundays and a variety of food specials every single day of the week. There is a part of me that does not want to write this review. The best serving crew on 118 avenue. A Community pub that stands out from the Rest. Management has invested heavily in the last few years to create a friendly community Pub. Karaoke Wed-Sunday. I love the karaoke here it's amazing with everyone. But I would not recommend eating here I had a cheeseburger and by patty was pink inside. Really visible also. I had one order of poutine and the gravy was colder then winter the cheese was not melted and they blamed it on the microwave. If it doesn't work don't sell the food that you need to nook up. The food is absolutely disgusting. Shady shady place. I don't blame others for not coming here. A few of the waitresses are rude. Shady. Unclean. And just should not be in that business. You ladies are half the reason why it's a shitty bar but congrats on even getting 10 people to stay there. read more

Mona Lisa's is my neighbourhood pub. The beer and cocktail selections aren't fancy, but they're reasonably priced. The big draws here, like many neighbourhood pubs, are karaoke and VLTs. The pub draws a good mixed crowd - on the last weekend night I visited, there were a bunch of young-ish groups singing. The bar's facade and windows were recently upgraded, turning a total dive into something more inviting. read more

Service was bad had to wait 25 minutes and ask to get a refill and we were told that the kitchen was slow and wasn't taking orders which is fine we were able to wait but the restaurant was able to serve other people that walked In after us and took their orders after us. Wings were pink and weren't cooked through but waitress insisted they were and they messed up the order which we had to pay for extra stuff we didn't order. read more

I like to go for the Karaoke and wings on Wednesdays. But not any more. The Wednesday night Karaoke host, who is a nice enough guy, suddenly turns into an arrogant jerk the minute he disagrees with something you've said. Food and wait staff service are ok. This pub is good for afternoons and early evenings. The staff is always friendly, and mostly the crowd is a eclectic mix of good people. The karaoke is great and the food is fine. When it gets late, sometimes the crowd gets a little sketchier and there are often fights. read more
