I've been to my fair share of Korean style barbecue restaurants and this one was one of my favourite experiences. With a lot of places changing menu prices to keep up with inflation I was relived to see that Mon ami had there all you can eat barbecue at a reasonable price! The menu selection is not massive but everything you get tastes amazing! We got a few veggies and were also told that lettuce, garlic and sesame oil were all included in the price since most places only give a few leaves of lettuce and sliced garlic I was surprised and very happy to see! When it came to protons we tried the bulgogi beef short ribs and shrimp and everything was seasoned great and tasted super fresh. We all tried some already cooked items like the rice cakes, egg rolls, and the amazing fried chicken. You can easily order a few rounds of chicken since it's so crispy. I also wanted to order the bibimbap since it's my favourite dish so we got it off the a la carts menu and I thought it was really worth it! Along with flavourful food and super friendly and attentive staff the barbecue used for cooking is wireless and creates a lot less smoke. I always come here with the wifey whenever we have a craving for KBBQ! Very kind service and always having a great time whenever we visit! We always go for the Grill option simply because its a fun experience for 2! The Soju is a great addition to our meal and by the end of the day, we are absolutely satisfied! The ambiance is very low key and dark but that doesn't stop the fact that the food is delicious! We will always be going here whenever we crave it! read more

First time here for lunch. First impressions were questionable. Dark and gloomy. I guess they now have a limited menu. I ordered the fried chicken as a meal. Very delicious for a all you can eat Korea BBQ place. Service is really good and quick. Even during any accident on the table, waiters are very available to help to clean the table. Also, music is just at the good volume, you can talk comfortably and having a relaxed time at the same time. Meat are very fresh and well seasoned. We rolled the meat into the lettuce and it is actually a very healthy way to eat. Team change the grill place very often. I also loved the fried chicken, not salty at all! The soft drinks (coke, 7up and Canada Dry) are all included in the buffet! A bit disappointed for the dessert though, passion fruits are not real fruits and they give you just a small amount of sweet potatoes. read more

Known for their Korean fried chicken, it's one of my go-to places for it! They have multiple locations in Montreal as well. If you're coming here, their fried chicken is a must try! It's so crispy, but juicy in the inside and well seasoned. Their bibimbap with bulgogi is also quite delicious and generous in portions. Another thing to try would have to be their kimchi fried rice and their tobokki with ramen and cheese! These are a little spicy but packed with a lot of flavour, pairing well with their chicken too. Despite the food being good, the quality for their dishes other than the fried chicken is inconsistent. There is definitely better days than others. As for the service, the waiters and waitresses are pleasant, however too often some of the dishes we order is forgotten. Was in a hurry to eat so didnt take too many pictures. I went on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was full but there was no lineup. When i go to kbbq i usually like to order mostly the LA galbi (with the bone). The taste of the marinade is so good! Mix of sweet and salty. There used to be a LOT of small pieces of bone on the meat which was very annoying but it got a lot better. We also always take the mushrooms to grill. Those were fresh and juicy. The jajangmyun has a little sweet taste to it which i am not used to. The egg jjim was a little dry (microwaved). But since i usually go for the meat this place ia very satisfying. The staff is also very nice and even suggested tp change our grill even before we asked. Also, this is a self serve drink place (soft drinks and juice) which is a plus since its included in the buffet. I love the k bbq experience because you can grill the meat to ur liking and mix and match different dishes. It is perfect for a big group of people. Note that since the place is not very well ventilated, you come out smelling like bbq. Not just ur clothes but even ur hair! So if you have an important meeting or event after, i wouldn't suggest it. read more

Initially a local hidden gem Mon Ami has since become a chain with several locations across Montreal. Their Korean BBQ menu is great and can be ordered "a la carte" or AYCE. The concept is simple. Most items are brought to you raw and you cook it yourself by the means of a BBQ grill installed on your dining table. If you're not familiar with this cuisine, definitely try it! AYCE option would work best as you can try out many different menu options and order more plates as you enjoy them! Along with the food you order, you'll be provided with enough things to try along with your menu items such as kimchi or lettuce leaves. Meat is well seasoned and fresh, the galbi was delightful. Eat at your own pace, the staff is super helpful and will take the time to explain the menu to you. Mix and match plates to your discretion. Try the Korean Fried Chicken, it's a culinary orgasm. If you order the buffet the soft drinks are included! The only negative thing I'll have to say is to make sure whatever you're wearing doesn't expect to be worn again or for a long duration as the ventilation in here is a little poor and your clothes WILL smell like BBQ. read more

We came here for lunch as a bunch of very hungry people and let me tell you that my family can eat its fare share of food! The waiter struggled a lot to serve our table of 17 plus all the other tables. I would guess that he had about 30-32 patrons for himself. Seeing that, we could get annoyed at him for messing our orders up. He was running back and forth non stop trying to do his job with a smile on his face even though he was having a hard time. Food. It was good. Really. Considering the fact that it's an all-you-can-eat buffet. The meats were well seasoned and the veggies were fresh. I wished they offered more variety but at least the "classics " are there. Sad thigh is that there are no desserts as well. Maybe because it was the lunch menu. I would thought that 25$ could give you more. So for me it was three stars but I made it four stars for the waiter's efforts! read more

Just went today (Saturday at 5:30pm). There were only 2 other tables. We got the AYCE part so this review will be about that. Def no seasoning on the meats because pork & beef taste the exact same. Pork belly def wasn't fresh. When you order sesame oil w/ salt, they give you 3/4 salt with 1/4 sesame oil... We got the kimchi pancake and seafood pancake (it says 2 pcs per serving on the menu). We took one of each and they gave us ONE piece of each o_o Last thing we had to remind them was the LA Galbi, they brought the plate out...with 3 pieces...2 of them were the bones + fat only...no meat :D We only ordered twice (cause the food really was meh) and they managed to forget some items both times. Of course we understand that they're short staffed but...like I mentioned at the beginning of the review, it was 5:30pm and there were only 2 other tables of 2 people each. 3 staff members for 6 people, I think it's doable, is it not...? (This is just a bonus observation. There was a table that came a bit after us and I think one of them was friends with one of the waitress cause the waitress came by to hug her at least 3 times when other tables had their lights on asking for assistance. Disappointing - Food is good quality but the cooking method is NOT Korean BBQ. They put water between the grill surface and the heating component and add a piece of thin paper to prevent the food from sticking to the metal grill plate. The result is slow boiled meat and not fast BBQ cooked meat. It was like eating chinese HotPot. They allowed us to remove the paper after we complained and wanted to frequently change the grill surface to prevent charring on the plate. They also prevented us from going over level "4" on the grill heat setting when the max is "8". What!? You are operating a KBBQ restaurant... Of course the plates are going to char! It is your job to clean and buy new ones as needed! Mon Ami, if you are reading this, there's a product called PAM that anyone who spends 5min in a kitchen will knows about. USE IT. Also, worried about the smoke? It's called setting up a proper ventilation system and not use "water" to steam the meat and limiting the guest on the heat output. ONE LAST THING. If you want to set a defined tip percentage for "groups" (we were only 5), put it on the bill directly. Don't press the "15%" button for me when I'm paying by card. During covid-19, I have been craving Korean food like fried chicken and soft tofu stew... Finally got my fix my ordering takeout at mon Ami! We had a bit of difficulty communicating on the phone because they are authentic koreans. However, good service and nice people. The chicken stayed crunchy even after 30min! The soft tofu stew also stayed hot and spicy. The pancake and black bean noodles are better in resto but still good. read more

The food was fine, and the service great--quick and friendly--but they've got to change their air extractor/ventilation. You're eating in a fog of everyone's barbecue waftings from the weeks and months before; it's horrible, it reeks, and it makes it hard to breathe (and we had to launder and shower everything when we got home). Took the all you can eat option, it was very good compared to other all you can eat Korean bbq. Meat and veggies were very fresh and well seasoned. Fried chicken was A1! Only issue I had was that it had a different method of BBQ and so it seemed like I was boiling the meat mostly rather than grilling, but it still tasted good. Good service. read more

I went the mon ami on Décarie for supper with family during the week end. We all took the all you can eat option. Since the ventilation system the restaurant had couldn't take in too much smoke, the restaurant enforced a policy for all customers to only eat their food at a power of 5 out of 10. In addition, we had to use parchment paper on the bbq. This was unfortunate since the meat couldn't get the proper grill. The waiters appeared to be understaffed as well as the time to order and get the food took longer then most all you can eat restaurants. I understand that each mon ami restaurant is slightly different so please understand this review only applies to this one. read more

Is it just me or is the management different? The service was absolutely horrible. I ordered the bulgogi for 2 as I usually do and asked them to cook the meat for us in the back. They proceeded to bring us a simple plate with little pieces of meat, one piece of mushroom and 1 or 2 onions. I don't recall it being that minimal the other times I've ordered that. I then asked the waiter if he could bring us the 2 bowls of rice, and he said that they weren't included (mind you the bulgogi for two is priced at $25,99). I was surprised he said that because the last times I've ordered that it did come with rice. He then said he spoke to the manager and said that they would make an exception this time and bring us rice. The meat was not fresh at all and we were so disappointed. On top of that we ordered a bottle of soju and it never ever came even after asking the waiter to bring it, twice! To add to that, we had to ask the waitor for water, plates and ustensiles!
