Let's start with the weather, shall we? Baltimore region was expected to get hit with a massive winter weather event (let's just call it snowstorm) over the weekend so I decided I would hop into Mom's on a Thursday at noon to grab some essentials, such as my favorite Guatemalan coffee and fresh fruit. Wellllll, apparently hundreds of others had the same idea. The store was filled to capacity with shoppers, had no carts or baskets to use and was quickly becoming stressful. I was forced to place my items in my shopping bags I had brought with the expectation of unloading them at checkout then reloading them after purchase. I was making my way around the store when I was told the line to check out actually began at the entrance to the store, the produce department. At first, I cursed, then I joined that line while my shopping partner finished getting what we needed. Fifteen minutes in line I found I had made it to the dairy case along the perimeter. Still in line, shopping bags full and heavy. A manager then appeared to tell everyone their systems were down. WUT? They could only take cash at this point, if you were lucky enough to make it to the check out. Stunned, confused, sadly remembering I have not carried cash since 2019, I had racing thoughts. Should I stay, should I go? I had already invested 20 minutes into this marathon trip. My partner, with clear eyes and a full heart, suggested she drive my car to the nearby bank across York Road to get cash. I would stay in line and await her return, letting others go in front of me until she was back with cash in hand. Some abandoned carts, some parked their baskets by the ice cream case while they ran to the ATM a few stores down. Are you expecting me to say chaos ensued? Mayhem, perhaps? Irritable patrons just trying to get their eggs and milk before a massive snowstorm traps them in their homes for several days? One would expect as much, but I am here to say this was the most chill and positive crowd of people I have encountered in awhile. As we all slowly moved up in the line stretching the entire perimeter of this market, we all smiled and made small talk, moved carts and baskets along for those who had left to get cash. Finally, I was third in line to the checkout when the manager announced, "Systems back up! Systems back up!" There were cheers and high fives. Each line was open with two employees assisting each check out station, the manager was fully engaged, employees were remaining calm and professional. Marty was my cashier. He rocked. Apologized for the inconvenience, all while smiling and remaining poised and calm. As another employee bagged my items, I see my partner returning just in time with cash in hand. Good timing yet not needed now. We laughed. EXCELLENT MANAGEMENT DURING WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY CHAOTIC MESS. read more

I tend to shop at this location for specific items. The produce was a little under stocked today. I noticed the prices have skyrocket. The store was pretty clean and organized. As always the staff is friendly. Its not a store I will get all my groceries from. But its definitely a great place to be confident when organic foods are your choice. Inept management ... purchased items mostly using our MOMs card ... only needed less than 60 cents for the balance. So, we paid that with cash rather than using a credit card. What an unnecessary ordeal resulted. Gave us the wrong change. They did not have two pennies. We'd say they had no sense whatsoever. Don't get into a disagreement with a customer over two cents. MOMs makes plenty profit. The manager couldn't find two cents. That individual in our view needs remedial training and their signage to screw a customer out of two cents is NOT prominently sized nor prominently displayed. Prices are HIGH here to start with ... guess they need another two cents for profit to support the union workers. Also, the management should have trained the cashier to inform the customer about the penny shortage and the outcome of any change due to the customer before the purchase was to be finalized. DON'T EXPECT THE CUSTOMER TO READ YOUR FINE PRINT AFTER A PURCHASE IS COMPLETED. IT CAUSED US TO GET UPSET AND DO A BAD REVIEW LIKE THIS ONE! YOU HAVE YOURSELVES TO BLAME. I don't do all my shopping at MOM's, seems like it would be expensive to do so, but there are definitely some specific items I come here for: *Wild Bay Kombucha. They have a much larger selection of flavors than any other grocery store around. MOM's has about ten flavors. Most other stores offer two. *Hex Ferments. Local sauerkrauts and kimchi have been joined on the shelves by Hex's kombucha. When I can make it to their tasting room, MOM's offers an alternative. *Other Local items. They have a great selection of locally roasted coffee, vegan cheeses and snacks. I love that MOM's doesn't just stock the national products but also offers local producers an opportunity to sell their goods. *Lesser Evil Fiery Hot Popcorn. I have found Lesser Evil Popcorn in many other stores, no one else seems to stock the spicy version. If you are looking for local products or a larger selection of national organic snack products check out MOM'S. They might just have what you are looking for. read more

1st I like to say I have always liked this store, the products and layout have been great. On Sunday March 16th around 2:30pm. The lady behind the coffee counter was rude to an elderly lady and when she was walking away she said, "if you don't like my service don't shop here". Yes. I heard that I was standing right there. Mice or rats at the Lutherville Mom's. Or mice And rats. One time we saw a whole shelf of the bread isle in the middle of the afternoon had been snacked on by what appeared to be a rat. A hole was made in several bags of bread and the bread inside had been eaten and crumbled into bread crumbs. Another time I saw what was definitely a large mouse or tiny rat scurry under the cold drink cooler near the registers. I suspect this rat I saw lives there under the cold drink cooler because there appeared to be a makeshift hole just like in a Tom and Jerry cartoon. I would have reported my findings but the staff is generally very grumpy and act like they don't want to be there. Surely they are aware of the situation but maybe they are trying to co-exist with the rats because they are vegans or something. read more

Good market with fresh, organic produce, but very expensive! PROS: 1. I like the chicken and ground Turkey 2. Staff is always present and working in the store 3. The carts are wiped down for customers and sanitizer available at the doors 4. They have a bake shop with pretty good juices connected (I had the Green Goddess juice) 5. They have a very prominent vegan section 6. They have many supplements and dietary add ons located in the store CONS: 1. A wide variety of health food options, but not name typical name brand items 2. At some points a haul becomes overwhelmingly expensive--but it is all organic. 3. [Coronavirus review] Shopping in coronavirus times is an interesting experience. Fortunately, MOM's is known for its wide aisles. Their usual practice of not only bagging your groceries but offering to carry them to your car is on hold-unless you really need the help. But everything was in stock and the line moved. This is one of the smaller MOM's, which means it's still a decent size for a specialized sort of food market, but nowhere near as good as the one in Baltimore. I must say they had fewer items on sale than I've ever seen at a MOM's; prices are still reasonable for most items, and they've got plenty of things that are hard to find, and useful for people with special diets or other unusual needs. Notably, they did have a couple of brands of Vitamin D on sale, and I suspect I'm like many others in that I'm going through too many days without sunlight. read more

I am a huge fan of MOM,s, I mean who doesn't love their MOM's? They recently expanded and added a bakery and cafe with vegan delights, juices and pastries. On this visit they had tofu banh mi as their sandwich of the day and there was no way I could resist that. It was a bit a a mixed experience with the fillings generous and tasty with house made kimchi and flavorful tofu squares. The disappointing part turned out to be the bread, which is a critical component of a good banh mi. The crust was soft and the bread was chewed and dry, maybe not freshly baked that day. Overall it was decent and the folks are really nice. The house kombucha was really good. read more

I love this Mom's in Timonium. The people are super nice. Lots of selections but not overwhelming. The aisles are big unlike Wholefoods. The parking is so much easier than Wholefoods. Usually never crowded at this location. Try the food at the newly opened cafe. read more

I've been an avid MOM's shopper, but no more! I have a profoundly autistic 24 year old son. It is difficult for him to wear a mask , but with continued prompting , and gentle guidance, I am always able to shop with him and his mask! But while waiting in line, outside , 6 feet away from other people waiting -the man operating the line, continually came to reprimand and disrespect my son for pulling his mask down.I am a nurse and and always wear a mask. The mission statement on MOMs website mentions compassion- but the staff obviously did not get the memo. Maybe some training in dealing with the disabled would help the staff. I decided not to enter the store after this jn-line experience. I then headed to Eddies where Ben wore his mask and where the staff is always kind and compassionate to me son. read more

The general feeling of uneasiness you get from Mom's workers in this store-which employs progressive liberal types is downright weird. It's as if everyone is feeling judged, watched and censored from being a human. You will never hear anyone laugh or joke around here. It's as serious as a heart attack. These people need to lighten up. Otherwise, this store has a pretty good selection and prices are OK. The produce is rather expensive and limited in selection. read more

I come here mostly for the water dispenser to fill up jugs for our water cooler. Also the only place I can find Snacklings in teriyaki.

I really appreciate this market, and the electric car recharge station is pretty cool. I also like their pet section, I got my dog a pretty sweet toothbrush that I have not seen anywhere else. I also liked the the cosmetics and protein shakes section. However the store is so expensive and hardly anything is on sale. I really wanted to get a dark chocolate bar but the prices were so high I controlled my urges. read more

Reality Update: Continuing to use the store during the pandemic. It's clean...it's well lighted...and not so crowded. It is also close to home and I love the Brown Cow yogurt it sells. One still cannot get everything one wants beyond the essentials or inexpensive red meats, but today it had dry yeast, hamburger, fresh bread...and chicken. A short white guy in a black hat and black hoodie followed me around the entire store. When I asked the clerk (White woman) at the register did he work here she lied a proceeded to say "no he's a regular he comes in with his family all the time, why?" . I told her that he followed me around since I entered and she said "oh that must be a coincidence " . I said "every aisle"? . Let's all pay attention to the fact that I was able to show her who he was because he followed me to the register but pretended to look at the kombucha ! Mixed feelings. I like a lot of the products but I find that many (but not all) of the folks who shop here are not the type of folks I want to be in close proximity with. Post pandemic most customers wear masks on their faces. For most (but not all) I suspect its a statement - rather than protection. Others feel differently I'm sure. MOM's has been a valuable source for produce, spices, bulk goods and other food staples for years; this review is long overdue. As a vegetarian who cooks 5+ nights a week my chief concern is consistent quality especially when it comes to produce. Even local Farmer's Markets are hit-or-miss and little frustrates me more when I'm planning a meal than to see table after table of withered or desiccated vegetables. However, not only does their buyer do an excellent job sourcing local products but they make sure to bring in seasonal varieties. Further, and vastly more important, is what they sell has flavor! No vibrant red tomatoes that taste like watery cardboard but rose-red fruit replete with complex acids, earthy undertones and sweetness borne of sun-baked days and cool summer nights. You salivate in anticipation. That is what food is meant to be - a pleasure not a means to achieve some caloric goal. As a chef once told me, "a dish can only be as good as its ingredients," and that sentiment rings true at MOM's Organic Market. read more

We love going to Mom's for the grass-fed organic gallons of milk and the super fresh produce. They have the best berries of any supermarket! Plus everyone that works here is nice and helpful. I feel like even though it's a small store there's always a ton of people working. I never have to wait long in the checkout line, there's usually a second person bagging, and they even offer to carry the bags to your car. Sometimes there are even local purveyors offering samples, which is fun! Finally, my husband ran there tonight after dinner not realizing that they close at 8pm on Sundays. It was 8:15 and they unlocked the doors and let him in! He was shocked. We love living nearby moms and running there for produce and organic, quality foods. read more

Cute store. Nice people. I'd shop here more often if they weren't so pricey. Some of the products are so crazy priced. I don't think they look to see what neighboring markets with organic selections as well are charging. Or maybe they do and want to keep a certain type of customer in the store...anyhoo they do have a few good sales from time to time on produce which what I mostly look for. Two stars for good selection of meats, supplements, and sweets. The cashiers are nice, but I've had it with this place. Knocking off 3 stars for the worst floor staff I've ever encountered in a health food store. They could care less about approaching you, asking if you need help, and they will straight up ignore you. I've overheard employees talking sh*t on customers, with extremely pretentious attitudes about the customers. (Um, they're paying your paychecks?) I sent my boyfriend in once a couple of months ago to get a supplement for me, he couldn't find it so he approached a female employee who ignored him, walked past him, and helped another lady that just showed up. He really had to track her down to get her to help him. Gasp! Men are scary! #Triggered. A couple of weekends ago, I stood at the *empty* Help Desk on a busy weekend and even made eye contact with an employee that walked past and I said 'Hello' to him, only to be looked at blankly and ignored. I've worked retail jobs most of my life, and worked at a health food store in college and neither myself nor the coworkers I had would actively IGNORE customers. If we had a bad customer, we'd talk sh*t on them in the back room, if someone needed help but it wasn't *our* dept, we found the person who could help them. The staff of this store are a reflection of the management, and since I've never seen a manager on the floor interacting with customers ever, I'm going to assume this treatment of customers is condoned. Hell, the manager probably isn't in the building. My boyfriend will probably keep shopping here because it's right near his job and he likes the challenge, but I never will again. This review is for the Bake Shop, a vegetarian sandwich shop attached to Mom's. Their offerings are delicious!! Bread is always so tasty, ingredients are fresh and flavorful. There is rarely a line. Service is prompt and friendly. I crave their tofu banh mi - it does have a distinctive smell (maybe from the kimchi?) but the flavors are so worth it. During COVID, they've closed their indoor seating bar (only a few chairs), but their two outdoor tables for two remain open. read more

Perfect store for everything organic, natural and local. This is our regular grocery store & good food and natural living is not just a lip service, you see it practiced at every touch point. Starting with fresh produce, grocery selection, bakery products, beverages , skin care, cleaning products & recycling! Staff is well informed & represent organization values. At times I find some brand (skin care) little more expensive than other stores but otherwise it has fair pricing! My son loves the food tasting bar and I don't miss coffee ever :) wish you start loyalty programs and may be a farmers day! read more

Have been to Mom's a dozen of times. Great selection on most items. Love the diverse array of organic veggies, honey, super foods, Amy's soup and best of all....a wide selection of animal foods and supplements. Grocery shopping is not a one stop shop anymore. Mom's filled the gap for me. But not worth the rudeness of some of the employees. Although some of the staff throughout the store seem to be alright..the check-out people are rude....each and every time. One check out person said not one word to me...no hello, no nothing...she handed me the receipt with a vague smile...I waited for a thank you and it never came. Do know that I smiled the entire time and I am always a kind and considerate customer, but SHE is representing the store and I just paid THEM $100 for their goods....so as far as I know, for the past 50+ years anyway, the store thanks the customer and the customer then says thank you back. Did I miss a change in the handbook of courtesy? The person who did the bagging, 25 yrs. old maybe...did apologize, but when I stated that I have worked since I was 12 and never would I ever neglect to acknowledge the customer...she walked away....mumbling something about how awful I was for criticizing her work place...thereby criticizing her. And I am thinking..yeah, you're right. But you don't runaway like a big baby. Makes no sense. DO YOUR JOB!! When you are working in a retail place filled with people....you might want to use your people skills.....otherwise, there is always a need for stock people. Had this been one incident, I would have chalked it up to someone's bad day.....but the employees, at least the check-out people, really need a brush up on etiquette and perhaps a bath to boot. So, on this note, I will not be returning and I absolutely take two stars off. p.s.~ I am quick to compliment management of any business, but when jobs are scarce and I am paying premium for my goods, I expect a simple hello and an even simpler thank you. Always a great experience at MOM's Organic . I came for a tumeric powder. This place is always amazing, the staff is so helpful and knowledgeable that it makes every experience a memorable one. The selection offers many options what you're looking for. And the food selection is pretty good also. My favorite area is the WELLNESS section they have so many different items for your skin, hair, and nails, etc. I love being able to purchase the Rocher butter and I'll add a few drops of my favorite essential oil to make it very personable. I shop here at least 3-4 times a week and forget to check in and write a review EVERY time. Moms has become my go to supermarket and if I'm not careful I typically pickup more than what I originally came in for (this always happens ). While very limited things are farm raised, I can typically trust what is stocked or readily available. I live a more paleo, nut and grain free lifestyle so I do have to check the labels for ingredients I buy (like I do everywhere else) but at Mom's the exception is I can always find whatever I'm looking for versus having to travel to different stores. The customer service here is unparalleled. If you are in line and someone pops up behind you, a cashier immediately calls for backup or baggage assistance to speed things up. This is very much appreciated. If something is out of stock or you are looking for something, you can typically find someone nearby or head to customer service where you can find a helpful associate. I was also told that if produce comes in and looks bad, they toss it! It's a comforting feeling to know that employees truly look out for their consumers best interest. All in all, if you are seeking a healthier lifestyle and would like to incorporate more organic, wholesome ingredients, Mom's is the place to be! read more

MOM's: organic market, without the organic market smell. If you have been into almost any health food or organic market, you know what smell I am talking about. It's not bad, it's not good, it's just present. I believe the aroma is a combination of B6 supplements, wheatgrass and the distinct bouquet of patrons who unwisely use all-natural, organic "deodorant." . It's like what I imagine Woody Harrelson's house smells like. Anyhow, the point is, the aisles My Organic Market in Timonium don't smell like this. In fact, they smell good. Like fresh produce and accomplishments. When shopping at MOM, I almost always stock up on fruits and veggies. The quality of the selection, in my opinion, is the best of any grocer I have visited. I also buy eggs from a local farm here. The eggs are so good, I have to keep them out of arm's reach when driving. If not, I end up finishing off the dozen before I even get home! It's a real driving hazard and almost never worth the mess. MOM also offers free coffee to shoppers. Apparently, the employees (and fellow shoppers) don't like it when you place your mouth under the faucet while dispensing coffee. Maybe, I didn't want to waste a paper cup. Did you ever think of that? Oh and if you bring your own bag, you get a ten cent discount. It has to be a reusable grocery bag, I think. They refused to give me a discount when I filled my empty Doritos bag with frissee lettuce. All jokes aside, this place is great. I'm not really sure how to rate this place. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but the prices are a little high. But on the other hand they have a great selection of organic things you wouldn't find at a regular grocery store. On the price thing, here's an example; there's an organic pizza line called Amy's. Wegmans sells them for $5 while MOM has them for $7. It also seems a little small inside. I wish they would expand! But for what it is, I'm glad this place exists as an alternative to other food stores in the area. read more

I guess I'd rather just do my homework and pick through the meat amongst other things at Whole Foods to get that which is organic. Well gee, since I just realized I am the Duchess of Mom's Organic Market, I guess I should pass on a review. :) This is my go-to shop. We actually travel 30 miles to shop once/twice a week (and they give Terra-pass credits via your zip code at the register to offset my carbon footprint on that one!) I buy strictly organic / non-GMO and am a vegetarian - Mom's has almost everything I need when I shop. They have a few specialty items that I haven't found anywhere else. The prices are good - extremely comparable to the suggested price points for these items. I have worked closely in the Natural / Organic food space with a lot of these companies and Mom's doesn't gouge on the suggested retail price of most of these items. I have gone to other natural markets and OMG - it's unreal how much they mark up for organic or specialty items. "I just want some Kale, I don't want to buy the place!" Granted, I still shop at Trader Joe's (wish they had more organic) and a few items at Wegman's - but Mom's wins my Favorite Grocery Store award. I have been to several locations (this is my 'home' store though) and at each one I always receive awesome customer service and definitely love all the free samples :) read more

This store's existence was passed along to me by a holistic nutritionist who worked near me and, like me, also referred to the Whole Foods that occupied our business district as "Whole Paycheck." That being said, she referred Mom's to me saying the prices were lower and to check it out. When I walked into this place it was as if the gates of heaven opened, that's how brightly lit the store was and the cherubs were the staff. The produce rep smiled and greeted me so nicely I thought I was the millionth customer or something, which is important to me. You want to feel that you are appreciated for walking into an establishment and considering to spend your hard earned money. Having worked across from Whole Paycheck for 7 years and visiting the store at least 3-4 times a week for breakfast or random items, I was armed with price ranges for a good comparison. I will say that for about 89% of the items I saw in Mom's, Whole Paycheck charged anywhere between 60cent to $1.50 more! That definitely says something! I also saw a large variety in products as well, which was pretty significant considering the store was a bit smaller than the Whole Paycheck I had been accustomed to visiting. The only reason why I rate this store at 4 is due to the cost. Obviously, to eat organic and healthy you can expect to pay more (chalk that up to the twisted society we live in where you can get a double cheeseburger for $1 but a veggie burger for twice that) but even still, I was still put off a bit by the price of the produce. It could have stood to have been a little cheaper. Other than that, I'm a fan of this store for sure! read more
