    Sushi

I came here for a work lunch and believe it or not, we had AYCE sushi! Thankfully it was on a Friday afternoon and we all went home afterwards... and it was indeed really needed because we all ate a little too much! The service was very quick and efficient when we put in the orders, and the sushi was incredible! All the fish tasted so fresh. This has got to be my favorite sushi place now

Went here after seeing tons of recommendations online to try out this AYCE Japanese spot and I wasn't disappointed! They have two varieties of AYCE: regular and premium with a slight price difference between both and 5 extra one-time items for the premium version. We opted for the regular meal the night we went and it still had a LOT of great food options that felt premium. For example, their mango shrimp sushi roll, double eel and foie gras sushi roll, Australian wagyu steak skewer, these are items you'll never find anywhere else in an AYCE. Plus the desserts were not just there it actually tasted good. It included three different types of cheesecake (matcha oreo, mocha and basque), creme brulee and so much more! Their ambiance is cozy and the service is great! Highly recommend this place.

This place had been in my bookmarks ever since they opened but finally visited for the first time to celebrate my gf's sister's bday. I thought long about my overall rating for this joint. I was at a teetering 3.5 stars and ultimately, I think I would round down to a 3 star "ok" rating. So there's 2 AYCE menus (regular and premium). Our party opted for the regular menu. The selection is not that large for an AYCE place (and the difference between the regular and premium menu is not worth it either imo). You would expect every item to be high quality and done really well then right? Not quite. We had very mixed reviews as it pertains to all the dishes. The teppanyaki & entree items were better than the sushi imo but even so, don't beat out the teppanyaki items at Ichiban AYCE for example (also more selection of grilled stuff at Ichiban). The sashimi seemed fresh. Some of the pressed sushi could've done w/ a lil less sauce on top of them (also these pressed sushis had a ton of rice in each one ... the rectangles were massive). Out of all the signature rolls, we all thought the best one was the double eel & foie gras roll. The unagi fried rice was pretty good as well. Anything eel-related on the menu is prolly your best bet for tastiness. The beef rib skewers were fattier than the australian wagyu steak skewer (which each diner was restricted w/ like 1) but too fatty. The teriyaki beef came to the table medium rare which was a surprising W. Normally dishes like this come to the table well done so that was a pleasant surprise. Dessert options/selection were also severely lacking compared to other AYCE places and not only that, they put restriction limits on dessert per person too! The staff gifted the bday girl a free match cake slice which was a nice gesture. Just taking a step back and looking at the objective totality of the meal, the menu was narrow in selection, the sushi quality did not match the social media hype that I was seeing everywhere online and there are just too many restrictions even on the regular menu. Also, the chairs (not the booths) are highly uncomfortable because they put these seat covers over a bamboo rung seat base so you basically feel the bamboo rungs digging into your cheeks through the seat cover (I was shifting around so much just to find a comfy position). If management is reading this, plz consider replacing the chairs w/ comfier ones LOL. I'm not sure I would return on my own tbh. Maybe if I was invited again for a special occasion? In my personal experience, I would have to agree w/ other reviewers calling this place a bit overhyped by social media.

One of my favourite all you can eat sushi in Markham/Richmond Hill. Service is friendly and prompt. Ambiance is good and not too crammed. I like that you use your phone to order food. Food is very good for an all you can eat.

One of the better ayce spots in the GTA. They have a good variety and the sashimi quality is really good but the price is a bit pricey. The restaurant is spacious, and lots of seating! Upgrade for $6 to "premium" menu to get 3 unique items. We got the wagyu roll, pork chops, and fish cod all were just okay. So just stick to the regular menu. Service was just okay... but it was fast and parking is easy to find just kind of chaotic since it's shared with T&T and other restaurants

I liked the shrimp and tartare dishes, Australian Wagyu Steak and Tongue Skewers, Beef Carpaccio , Scallop (only on weekends) and Sweet Shrimp Sashimi, Double Eel & Foie Gras Rolls. If you upgrade to premium, you can enjoy additional items like the: Rack of Lamb Scallop With Dashi Beurre [with poached lobster] A5 Wagyu Roll [4 pc] Miso Black Cod PRICING seems fair: MON - THURS Adults: $41 (premium: $46.99) FRI-SUN Adults: $44 (premium: $50.99) Kids 4-9y/o: half price

TLDR: AYCE sushi spot with a "premium" menu that is $7+ more per person. The dishes are fresh for ones with raw rish in them and most of their cooked dishes are good too. There are lots of tasty dishes but also a few dishes to avoid that I'll list below. Everyone at the table doesn't have to pay for the premium menu but from what I've heard, the portions from the premium dishes are quite small so if you tried to share them with everyone there, sounds like each person might at most get a nibble per dish :') -[AYCE/FRIDAY-SUNDAY ADULT] $43.99 -[TERIYAKI SALMON] 6/10 The flavor was there in terms of it being well seasoned and the teriyaki sauce not being too overpowering but the salmon was overcooked -[CRISPY SPICY SALMON ROLL - 4 pcs] 8/10 Not spicy at all actually; the high rating is due to the fact that the filling vs rice ratio is amazing AND some rolls like this one come in a small number like 4 - allows you to order many different ones to try -[JAPANESE STRIP FRIES] 9/10 The fries tasted like slightly less salty McDonalds fries (in a good way) and were topped with kewpie mayo, teriyaki sauce, cheese and katsuoboshi -[BROWN SUGAR STICKY RICE] 8/10 This was deep fried mochi covered in a brown sugar syrup that then had kinako powder sprinkled on top and it was not too sweet - I LAUGHED out loud when I read Patricia L's Yelp review about these because of the presentation of this dish from her experience (our dish did not look like that) -[TAKOYAKI] 7/10 Pretty standard but docking slight marks off because why did they drown the takoyaki in so much sauce -[LAMB SKEWER] 9/10 It LOOKED burnt and overdone but was almost perfectly grilled - was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It is spicy but I loved it -[BEEF RIB MEAT SKEWER] 9/10 Please see above as it was the same haha -[ASSORTED SASHIMI] 9/10 We ordered salmon, tuna, butterfish, tai, surf clam, sweet shrimp, hamachi, scallop and ika but the ika never came. Everything else was pretty fresh though - note that scallop/ika are only available on the weekends! -[DOUBLE EEL & FOIE GRAS ROLL - 4pcs] 10/10 The insides of the roll had avocado, cucumber, tobiko and bbq eel and was topped with bbq eel and foie gras. It was well balanced in flavor and the amount of rice was minimal for the roll so we ordered TWO of these actually -[SALMON YUZU-MISO YAKI - 2 pcs] 6/10 This was torched salmon topped with truffle ponzu, truffle aioli, and crispy onion. It wasn't super flavorful but was only 2 pieces so could pass or order again tbh -[SALMON TATAKI - 3pcs] 8/10 Slightly seared salmon in spicy shiso ponzu - I didn't find it to be spicy but it was tastu -[TUNA & SALMON STACK] 10/10 This was deliciously seasoned and diced tuna & salmon stacked on diced avocado that is served with crispy wonton chips -[PORK BELLY SKEWER] 10/10 The pork belly is perfectly flavored and is so tender that as soon as you bite into it, it basically begins to melt away -[ENOKI BEEF ROLL] 6/10 This wasn't super flavorul but the beef/mushrooms were tender enough -[ASSORTED NIGIRI] 7/10 Spicy salmon/tuna gunkan were alright but had too much rice like all the other nigiri. Hamachi nigiri was fresh and the aburi scallop nigiri was great but the amount of rice was still -[BAKED MUSSEL WITH CHEESE] 10/10 Not fishy at all and the cheese/sauce pairs well with it -[BEEF TONGUE SKEWER] 7/10 It was a little tougher than we would have liked but overall was tasty. Definitely looked different compared to the picture though -[AUSTRALIAN WAGYU SKEWER] 6/10 Could have been more tender since it's wagyu but hey, it's part of the AYCE menu -[BEEF TATAKI] 8/10 Very refreshing and light -[BEEF CARPACCIO] 8/10 This one was interesting because the bright green of the sauce made us think it was wasabi flavored but truthfully, the whole dish just tasted like parmesan -[GARLIC BUTTER SHRIMP] 8/10 This was a nice little snack and was just the right amount of garlicky -[KING BACON MUSHROOM ROLL] 10/10 These were so good we ordered another round of them haha - the bacon/mushrooms were cooked well -[GREEN TEA CREME BRULEE] 10/10 If I could take these home, I would have taken 10 home but instead, I ate two there haha. Very good matcha flavor -[TONKOSTU RAMEN] 2/10 Do NOT get this!!! It had 0 flavor, almost like someone made instant ramen and FORGOT to add the seasoning packet :') -[TERIYAKI CHICKEN] 8/10 Very tender/juicy but was a large portion in our eyes as our bellies were very full at this point HAHA -[ROSE MILK PUDDING] 8/10 LOL I KNOW HOW IT LOOKS but trust me, it tasted way better than it looks. Marks off for the presentation though They take cash and debit only!

Momokoko is perhaps my favourite ACYE sushi spot in the GTA so far. The diversity and creativity of all the items on the menu make it worth it, although it is a bit more expensive than the other spots. I also always feel good after visiting Momokoko which says a lot about the quality and freshness of their food. I really like Momokoko. Clean and spacious interior. Great service all the time too.

Honestly my partner and I found it okay. Although we did appreciate some of the dishes that you would not normally see in other AYCE places such as the deep fried durian ball and their version of rainbow roll. It did not wow us enough to say that we would want to come back as the premium price was a little steep. Atmosphere was really nice, lots of booth seating! Service was pretty fast as well.

Came here Sunday upon opening with a reservation and was seated promptly. The service here is quite good. The waiters are all attentive, energetic and polite. I came here with skyhigh expectations and left with a lackluster experience and a much lighter wallet. The good side are the aburi (torched) sushi. My favourite sashimi is scallop and they do an aburi sushi with it, very good. The salmon is also good. The surprising star here is the cod fish taco! I like a good fish taco and this is one of the best. The fois gras sushi was nicely balanced. Unfortunately everything else was just okay or really bad. The wings were small and burnt. The short ribs were hardly grilled, it's like they didn't use enough heat. The shrimp tempura was all stuck together. The carbonara can't be called carbonara. All in all it's not worth the price IMO.

Located in the north west corner of Warden and Steeles in the T&T plaza. There is parking out front but with the supermarket and many other establishments beside, parking gets scarce and drivers may not be on best behaviour as they zip around in search of parking. Their online reservation system is buggy and definitely needs some better Q/A and User Acceptance testing as many people (myself included) were shocked to find out bookings not reflected on their system. There is an online ordering system with a decent assortment of offerings. The food is ok. I did find the fried items a bit oily (oil not hot enough) and the shrimp sashimi a little on the fishy side. The sitting is split between booths, cafeteria seating to accommodate any size parties and a few 2-4 top tables. The staff is rushed and the seats may not be as clean as should be. Take a peek before sitting There is an All You can drink pop for $3.00 ontop of the regular meal price

I was so excited when I finally came here after wanting to come here for months! They really live up to its hype of "premium AYCE". The premium menu is $7 more than the regular and each person can choose 3 out of the 6 premium items. My group tried the lamb rack, miso cod, a5 wagyu roll, and lobster scallop. As for the rest of the menu items, they were delicious and stood out from other AYCE places. Some must have items include Thai pork jowl, salmon tataki, durian ball, and foie gras & unagi roll. My only *small* complaint is that some items didn't come out looking like how I would've expected. Eg, I got the brown sugar rice roll and it came out looking very questionable...my waiter actually thought it was trash and took it away from our table right after it arrived and I had to be like, "Nooo! That they arrived!" LOL They have a 2 hour seating but last call is at 1.5 hour and they will close off the on line ordering. Like others have mentioned, dessert is quite limited. Service was friendly and attentive! The food came out really fast and we got everything we order, but by the second or third round of ordering the food came out noticeably slower.

Lovely Japanese AYCE restaurant in Markham Lovely interior design, polite and great service from all staff. Kate was our server and she was fabulous. They have a full bar with a variety of drinks. It is pricier than your average AYCE sushi restaurants in the area but they do deliver greater quality and variety. For an additional $7 you can get the premium menu with a choice of 3 of 6 premium one time order item which includes lamb rack, scallop and lobster, waygu beef roll, miso cod and yuzu or matcha cake. Dessert options aren't too much, there's cup sundae, scooped ice cream or melons. There is also a fried durian ball which is not on the dessert menu page. Lunch ends at 2:30pm and dinner starts at 4pm but be sure to make a reservation because it gets busy! And parking is limited when the T&T plaza gets full.

The restaurant is super quiet and they offer great quality of food with great service, and the price is expensive if you choose to order sukiyaki set (expect $80+ per person). You can choose between sushi sets at different price level or sukiyaki from the menu. This suits the need of our group given some people prefer sushi but some couldn't eat raw food. They also offer a couple of limited appetizer dishes such as tempuras and unagi don. If you booked the sukiyaki table and want to order sushi, you need to call them in advance to notify which sushi sets you want. We tried the sashimi and sushi courses at $55, which included miso soup, 5 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi (squid, toros, salmon, scallop etc.), handroll and matcha or black sesame icecream at your choice. The sushi is smaller than average, suitable for small eaters. The course is totally worth the money. I love every piece of sashimi and my favourite sushi include the scallop and the squid. Everything was super fresh. The dessert was also having the perfect sweetness level for me. In addition, we also tried the sukiyaki for two ($110), which includes mushrooms, cabbages, great quality of Angus beef, yummy tofu and udon. Again, all the material was with great quality and super fresh. I especially liked the sweet sukiyaki soup, the tofu and the udon. We also ordered some shareable dishes including chawanmushi, unagi don and cod. Cod was cooked to perfect (soft and flavourful), and unagi don had quite decent portion. It would be better if the unagi could be softer from my personal opinion. Chawanmushi was mediocre. Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant to fan of Japanese cuisine. It meets different people's needs by offering both cooked and raw food options, and the sushi set definitely has great value for money.

Was worried it wouldn't be filling, but it's just the right amount of food. Whether you're celebrating something special or just want a traditional Japanese meal, this would be my spot. The sushi chef was very friendly and approachable, but he wouldn't make you feel like you need to yap with him like other omakase I've been to in Toronto where they would talk to the customers a lot. The wait staff was attentive and polite. Overall really good quality sushi, service and value. Would come again! I also appreciate that they don't require a deposit for reservations and don't require to pick the set you want beforehand. Very clean and warm design. Felt like I was in Japan!

Tastes exactly the way I thought it would. Which is internal organ like but in an unpleasant creamy way. Duck liver raspberry toast: Nice but could be bigger. The raspberry brought an expected nice sweetness to the nice liver taste. A little more raspberry would be nice. Tuskune and egg yolk dip: It's ok but not that big a deal. Cheese momo: Fantastic. The swiss cheese is an excellent pairing to the chicken. Skin-Kawa - Delciious. Crispy. Must have, Hiza (knee cartidlidge): nice and crunchy Beef short rubs boneless: Was enticed due to the tendon part. It was nice but not incredible. Beef tenderloin + Chimichurri: Wife's favourite. We always order several of these. P-toro: Another must repeat. Great pork belly taste. Cherry tomato bacon maki: New and delightful. Bacon wrapped cherry tomatoes provide a delightful burst of tomatoey sweetness wrapped with the unctuousness of bacon. Lamb rib chop: Excellent and tasty. Once again everything was cooked perfectly and the amazing binchotan smoke made everything delicious. Fun fact, they put charcoal in the free water carafes as well.

Good food that hurts your wallet…read more Japanese izakayas are few and few between in Markham - that's why I got excited to see Sumoki pop up! It's not on the main street of Unionville, but its presence on a side road matches the quaint nature of the restaurant. It's not the biggest inside, but it gives off a Japanese aesthetic with the wood trim throughout. We made reservations in advance to avoid long lines, if any (thankfully it wasn't packed the night we went). Orders are made via QR code, which seems to be the norm now. I like it since you don't have to waive down waiters in a low-dimmed izakaya. Their main offering seemed to be skewers. We ordered a bunch of them to try - notably, all of them had a nice smoky fragrance to them (maybe that's why it's called Sumoki). We especially enjoyed the Grilled Chicken Skin. Perfect crunch from the initial bite leading to a slight chew throughout. The seasoning was spot on as well. Other honourable mentions include extremely succulent Chicken Thigh meat, Gizzards and Beef Tongue. You could really taste the meat juices from each skewer since the chefs don't overpower it with seasoning. Other local skewer places tend to have the same seasoning across different cuts of meat, so Sumoki felt like a breath of fresh air amongst the growing market. Coincidentally, it's also the first place I've been to offer Giant Rooster Testicles. Now...don't be alarmed. It sounds exotic and might not be everyone's cup of tea, but this dish is extremely creamy. Give it a try if you have the courage! We came to celebrate my brother's birthday, but quickly realized our bill was racking up really quickly despite a small number of orders. Sumoki is definitely a place where you don't want to come on an empty stomach, since each order is 1 skewer (unlike other local restaurants). Other menu items, from what we saw of neighbouring tables, didn't fare much better in terms of portion sizes. We left quickly to avoid some serious financial damage for the 6 of us, but also quickly drove to another impromptu restaurant to get settle our hunger down. Sumoki definitely isn't cheap. I wouldn't recommend this to be a formal dinner - moreso if you wanted a light snack after dinner. But then again, with these prices, Sumoki tries to make itself bougie without delivering 100% satisfaction so maybe try at your own risk.
