Nice small town restaurant. Fried mullet was really good. Not something you find too often. Don't think it's available every day though.

Angelita's Cafe - French toast sandwich with omelette and sausage

I was out on a long ride around North central Florida and as I was passing through Mayo, I…read moreremembered that there was a little breakfast diner off to the side of US27 that I had seen a month or two before. Seeing as it was breakfast time, I figured I would give it a shot. The place is non-assuming from the outside, and also quite small. Just room for a counter, a couple of tables and a booth, and that's about it. Small kitchen in the back to make the food. I walked in and waited for the person in front of me to finish their order while I looked over the menu. I'm not normally a breakfast person, so when I do grab breakfast it tends to be special and I go for things that are fun. I opted for a French Toast sandwich with an omelette and sausage in the middle of it. It took a couple of minutes to make, so I made myself comfortable at one of the tables. Once it came out, I was presented with exactly what I described... two pieces of french toast sandwiching an omelette and sausage. Just a light drizzle of syrup for the toast, and I was off to the races! It was quite good, though I can see if someone drowns it with syrup like I have seen some folks do it would be kind of strange. I definitely enjoyed this breakfast, and I was back on the road in no time with a nice happy tummy.

Wonderful breakfast spot. A small and unassuming building, but they make great used the space. Food…read morewas great and the service was attentive.

The chicken was disturbingly small Chicken- butchered thin( less than 1/2 breast portion) The chicken not breaded, breast filet sliced served on an oversized bun, which belittles the poor chicken. When complained another breast sandwich was sent right away, but was not cooked. How can you send out RAW chicken! Chef ramsey would be infuriated! also portioned smaller than bread and full of gristle. Un- edible. Made due with over-cooked first order to appease my appetite, and not to complain a thirtd time. but both a sad looking chicken choice for the $10.99 price tag. However, our Waitress tried to compensate for the cooks poor or lack of skill: by only charging the price of the french fries. For a day of just taking a drive and finding this restaurant on the water, he view was gorgeous on the suwanee. Lovely day, nice weather and many airboats and finshing along the banks, the food I would skip. (At least the chicken) however my friend who ordered the blackened fish sandwich also a small portion of fish, but was pleased with the flavor and cook. So it may be a hit or miss type of place. The one star review is on the chicken sandwich. I guess the saying goes don't order something land when at a seafood restaurant.

Had some light rain on the way to Suwannee only to discover their "covered" outdoor seating is no longer safe due to structure issues. The staff was kind enough to allow is to sit inside. I must say the seafood was the best I've had in the area and will definitely be making the 30 minute drive more often.

We made our way to the front counter and got on the list. Figured we would be in for a long wait, but our total time from putting our name on the list to being seated was under 10 minutes. It was a buffet style restaurant so the waitress got our drink order and invited us to help ourself to the buffet. The food was overall very good for everything I tried. They had 5 buffet bars set up 1 salad bar, one meats/mains, 1 veggie, 1 split veggie & warm desserts and a cold desert bar. The standout foods I tried were the fried chicken, fried catfish, and fried shrimp. I tried the catfish without many expectations since it was a buffet and not a huge catfish fan, it was one of the cleanest tasting catfish I have ever put in my mouth. The fried chicken was delicious as well. We weee totally impressed with the building, speed of service and the great food. My wife who hates most buffets even looked at me and said she would come back to this buffet anytime.

When we pulled into the parking lot only 1 hr after opening it was packed!! went in put my name on the list less the 15 mins we were seated and greeted! They have specials which change daily , today they had pork chops added to the buffet.Salad bar was amazing .And the chicken they have both baked and fried. Shrimp wasnt over breaded, matter of fact all the fried foods were perfectly seasoned and lightly breaded. The waitresses were all very friendly and came by and checked on us regularly, and refilled our sweet tea. Even the dessert bar was amazing , peanut butter cookies were so soft and my favorite. I only wish i took more pictures of food, next time!! It is only about an hour from Gainesville, nice relaxing drive and worth it!!
