Food is a solid 4, but the service was a 2 (today). This is my second time here. I live in Tampa, but road trip often. The quesadillas were so good the first time I had to make it a point to stop in again. The cheese they use for their quesadillas is super melty and oh so delicious! As far as the service goes, we were forgotten about, or at least it felt that way. When I asked a fourth person for something, telling him I hadn't seen our server since we ordered, he explained they "team wait" there. Didn't feel like there was any team waiting going on. Hopefully this was just a one off and the service was just lacking that day. Their remodel looks great, but there isn't a changing table in the restroom, yet. Worst place to it, service extremely bad. Talk to the waiter and explain that the margaritas are extremely sweet and he responds that he already made it and I have to pay for it. I'm sorry, but I didn't prepare it, so go and fix it, and he refuses to exchange, fix it. Related to the food, I got chicken soup that tasted like a tea, shrimp cocktail loaded of rotten tomatoes. We were visiting Perry for my daughter's gymnastics competition and wanted something for dinner near our hotel. The agreement became Old Mexico of Perry, which I must admit was a memory for the books. Not only was it gloomy and unwelcoming, when a drink was accidentally spilt NOT one employee tried to help. Food was pretty tasty. Just weird vibes and felt like it was ran by children. I would recommend taking your chances on another spot. read more

The food wasn't bad but the service is terrible. The place was almost empty, they had a few servers (young girls) that had absolutely no personality at all. No welcoming, no smile, no thank you. Food-awesome. We came in on a Saturday and ordered the special- Quesabirria. I had never heard of it before, but decided to give it a try. OMG it was so delicious. Basically three grilled corn tacos with cheese, cilantro, onions and a special roast beef, very tender served with a red sauce/broth that the meat had been cooked in. We went back today, because I needed more. Service- was outstanding. Several staff always circling. Ambiance-very colorful, could probably use some fresh paint ") Will definitely return. read more

We've eaten in a lot of Mexican restaurants across the country. Although we are not experts, we know what we like. Old Mexico surprised us with how good it was. The chips and salsa, margaritas, tacos, and enchiladas were all fresh and flavorful. Service was friendly and professional; the restaurant itself was clean and inviting; and the prices were reasonable. We will be back next time we are in the area. read more

Just one visit, I had a tamale and cheese enchilada. The food was outstanding and the service maybe not attentive I guess. But that's not a real problem for me I just held up my empty glass and then some came to refill it. What a lovely surprise, to find an authentic Mexican restaurant in Perry! We were blown away by an impressive (over 100 items) menu, and quality of food when it arrived! We were greeted by a friendly waiter, and given delicious, warm nachos and homemade salsa. We ordered Margaritas, and were amazed by how potent they were - the restaurant certainly didn't skimp out on tequila! We are happy to have discovered this gem, and will ne back for more! read more

Food was okay - nothing special. Service was pretty frustrating, as we had about 8 different servers approach our table to ask us for our drink/food order. What I didn't care for, was the additional charge for everything. Fajitas, for example, came without sour cream or guacamole (guac, I understand). I asked for sour cream, boom, added to the bill. More flour tortillas, because they don't give you enough, yep, a buck! By the end of the meal, my check was marked all over with up-charges (they leave the check at your table and just add to it when you need something). I likely won't be coming back. read more

AWESOME one of the persons in my party has been to Mexico visiting her husbands family and she said this place was very close to what it tastes like in Mexico. I always thought Mexican food should have alittle kick cooked in and not added on top . Well there's was cooked in and it was AWESOME and even my husband that doesn't like spicy food likes his burrito. Stopped here while traveling, at the recommendation of our hotel clerk. The atmosphere is not a good indication of the overall experience. It looks kind of bland, but overlook that, and enjoy everything else. We were seated in a booth, which was enclosed and cozy. The servers were prompt and attentive. I don't think they assign regular servers, as we had several--always quick, and happy to attend. The margaritas were delicious, and it was 2 for 1 night--even better! The salsa was good, with a unique taste, like maybe a touch of oregano. Unusual at first, but it really grows on you. I had the pork carnitas---excellent! The pork was moist and tasty, and the corn tortillas were melt-in-your-mouth good! I rarely eat more than one tortilla at a meal--but I ate all 4 here! I asked for more pico to top the pork--the only shortcoming to the dish. A little is good--more is delicious. My husband had the Old Mexico beef burrito, which was huge, full and covered with cheese. Yum! He finished that off, too! For a couple who regularly take home half our meals, we just couldn't stop at these dishes! A nice addition to the meal was two gentlemen playing guitar. Not Mexican music, but relaxing recognizable tunes. Made it feel like a real night out. The only thing that was unusual was that they don't leave the check at your table. The "locals" are familiar with the routine. Go to the counter, tell them your table #, and pay your bill. Easy-peasy! All in all, glad we stopped in! read more

Food is really good, definitely pick this one over the other restaurant up the road for quality of food. I would however agree with many others here, the servers don't seem to have a plan, so you'll probably have between 1 and 5 of them asking different (or even the same) questions, typically in hushed, muddled english at best. Also, for some reason they feel a need to really push the chips and salsa, which are not free. That extra few dollars seem very important, but ultimately makes you feel like you've been taken advantage of. I've gone by myself and with a group and they even charged for multiple baskets of what i'm sure amount to about $1.50 in chips. That said, the rest of the prices are very fair for the portions. read more

Customer service was Eh...our table was the only table and yet I had to wave down our server to order food. Food was OK aka kind of bland. Had the Chicken Flautas, with rice and refried beans and guacamole. Overall the chicken was the most tasty component but the beans and rice tasted like they used little to no spice. Similarly, the salsa and chips provided to the table was sub par since the salsa tasted like it was just canned tomatoes and the chips left one with greasy fingers. I haven't eaten at Old Mexican in a while but it is usually the best place for mexican food in town. I had some out of town friends visiting this week and we ordered takeout food from them. (on Monday evening around 8pm) They said it would be 30 minutes. We waited 25 minutes to go pick it up and when we got there we found they had not started the order. We waited another 30 minutes at the restaurant. When we got home the fajitas we ordered were missing the tortillas, the chips that came with both of our taco salads were so stale they 'bent' but never 'broke'. They were not impressed with the taco salads either, and we were missing some other items. However the steak quesadillas I ordered were delicious so I shared them with my friends. We called them and all they said was you can come back and get the missing items. :( My friends and I were not impressed. We spent approximately $65 that night for 4 people. Giving them another chance, I called and ordered take out for a late lunch today (Saturday around 2pm) I ordered the steak quesadillas again with queso dip n chips ($15) but this time it looked like they were cooked on a grill that seriously needed cleaning and they were very, very soggy on the bottom. The service was very fast. You do have to ask for the spicier salsa because it is very mild, but when you get the green spicy sauce it has a great flavor and a nice punch. The beers were cold, my wife's margarita was huge and the prices were reasonable. The food was pretty standard. The tacos al pastor were the best thing on the menu. read more

The food is usually great kind of bland depending on what u order. The menu lacks order and proportion it's actually kind of confusing in parts. There are one or two waitresses that are very kind , don't understand much of what u say but are still kind. The waiters I seen today however were as previous reviews say non-interested in good service and seemed like they could care less if we were there or not. All around they all look and act like they hate their jobs. My order was wrong but still tasted okay just poor service :( sad to say because I used to love this place. We will definitely not be going back. Food was just short of just okay. Might be okay if you have not eaten or know what good Mexican food is. Having lived in numerous places, I can say, without a doubt, Old Mexico is not good, and the service is worse. Our server could not be bothered and actually "humphed" when I asked for something. She also cleaned the corners of he eyes, played with her hair and scratched her arm a lot. She even had the nerve to sarcastically repeat what my husband said - to the other "servers". From what I have read, we definitely have company with regard to our viewpoint....just wish we had checked Yelp first. Lesson learned. read more
