I've been coming to Shelby for 6+ years. When I first started seeing her, my hair was super fried from bad color treatments and at home box dye. Shelby has brought my hair back to life. Let's be real, finding a good hair stylist is hard. I knew Shelby was the one when she talked me out of doing something that would have completely damaged my hair. She keeps it real! Shelby is always so fun, super helpful and always has at home treatments and tips and tricks to keep my hair healthy in between services! Go see her! You won't regret it! read more

Long hair before and shorter hair after! I saw Caroline's videos on Tik Tok and had to get my hair done by her. I love the layers. She gave me tips on styling with mousse and textured hair spray. She showed and explained how to blow dry. I'm a low maintenance girly. Her explanations made me realize what I wasn't doing correctly. She was so friendly and personable. I was brought a glass of water but completely forgot to drink it. Beautiful location right across from the beach! I brought my little dog with me. She sat on my lap, and we went for a walk at the beach afterward. It was a perfect because the rain just stopped.10/10 would recommend. read more

I've been getting my hair done by Jessica for about 6-7 years now, and honestly, she's so much more than just my hairdresser she's a friend. From day one she's been incredibly sweet, patient, and just genuinely easy to talk to. She always understands the assignment, no matter what look I'm going for, and somehow manages to make it even better than I imagined. Over the years, she's listened to me talk about my life, celebrated my wins, and been there through the tough stuff too. I always look forward to my appointments with her it's like therapy and a glow-up in one. At this point, I trust her so much that I just tell her to do whatever she wants with my hair, and she always kills it. If you're looking for someone who's talented, kind, and truly cares about her clients, she's the one. I can't recommend her enough. read more

I made a big deal before the stylist started that I want my hair to grow long enough to braid and that I've had problems in the past with growing it out, because the hair dresser kept cutting off more than just the split ends. I made a big deal that I didn't want her to cut much off, that I just wanted it to look healthy. There was a huge pile of my hair on the floor when she was done. She kept a few long hair at the very back. If I put my hair in a ponytail, there's a disgusting huge bump where she cut the first layer and a thin, frizzy ponytail. It's too thin to braid. She cut off almost all the hair on the sides of my head, so when looking at me in the front it looks like I have short hair. The stylist was nice and I wanted to complain to just her over the telephone, but I've left over 5 messages and it's been a week and she still hasn't returned my calls. The owner also hasn't returned my calls. I wish the stylist had listened to me. I blame myself for not stopping her while she was cutting. It will take over 3 years to repair the damage done. I feel sad every time I look in the mirror or see myself on a video call. read more

Clean, efficient salon! $90 for a 45-50 min haircut (nothing fancy, includes wash, excludes tip). I had 2 cuts with Fallon and she is so sweet! Listens during the consultation and makes sure I know what she will be doing before she does anything. Recommended some products for volume and I appreciate her tips so much!! My only thing is that one receptionist (unsure of name) can be iffy in terms of phone service. Nothing too alarming though. Free street parking as long as you pay attention to street sweeping signs, ocean right behind you. Overall I recommend the salon! read more

I would highly recommend Chelsea! I went to her after I got a bad haircut someplace else and the whole team was so welcoming, I felt like I've been going there for years! Chelsea not only fixed my hair, but I have the best haircut that suits my needs. I took off my glasses and just said do what you think would look best (on my second appt with her) and when I put my glasses on, I LOVED it! So does my husband, who never really comments on my haircuts! I totally trust her! See the Molly Moon Salon team soon! :) read more

Chelsea is the best! I can't remember the last time I left a salon being absolutely obsessed with my hair, and Chelsea made that happen! She really took the time to listen to what I was looking for, and added her professional opinion and creativity, which I really love- as I can be super indecisive when it comes to my hair. I have fine, thin hair and she knew just what to do and what my hair needed. The salon is super cute, clean, and parking was a breeze which I appreciate. Everyone from the front desk, to the surrounding hair stylists were so friendly and accommodating. My hair has never looked better, thanks so much Chelsea!!!! read more

I'm a Long Beach local and I always pass by this salon when I go to the dog beach, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I've been bleaching my dark brown hair for a couple of years now and the hairdresser I usually go to just wasn't really giving me what I wanted when I asked her to give me a more seamless blend from dark to light, so I booked an appointment with Sarah and she is amazing! Super nice, understood exactly what I was asking for without showing her any Pinterest images (lol), and taught me a new hair curling technique I could try out at home. Will definitely go back to see Sarah when I need a touch-up. read more

First, I live in San Francisco and visit Long Beach often. Especially for family events. I called ahead and spoke to a lovely person and explained I what I was trying to achieve, asked a ton of questions and she was super helpful. I highly recommend hair with Dana and the lovely makeup artist took the time to put individual lashes on me. They said it would take 2 hours from hair wash to finish and they were FASTER than I expected. I had a wonderful night completely worry free. Thank you Molly Moon! I'll see you soon! Hopefully you aren't completely booked up by the time I get there next :) read more

Made an appointment with hairstylist named Jessica. She asked for a $75 deposit and made me wait about 2 months to come in. She decided to cancel at 2 am Friday night ( so basically Saturday morning) and my appointment was the next day Saturday at 9 am. I didn't see her message on Instagram (no call no text just an Instagram dm) and drove 20 miles to Long Beach. Lazy and irresponsible hairstylist they clearly don't want to work read more

First time at Molly Moon Salon today after I have either walked or driven by for almost two years! Huge thank you to *Joy* for my new haircut and style! After two years of not having a "go-to" salon or stylist, I have FINALLY fell in love with a stylist just down the street! She not only did a lovely job cleaning up my length & layers but taught me so much in the process (I'm not the best when it comes to my hair). Joy was so thorough and is very talented. I couldn't be happier & can't wait to come back for another amazing & relaxing experience. As for the salon itself, it has a great contemporary yet homey vibe and everyone is very friendly. I love how quaint and small it is. Plus the view behind you of the ocean in the mirror when you're getting your cut isn't the worst thing to look at either. Support local! read more

I would love to HIGHLY recommend Chelsea. I had my first time at this salon and she made it an amazing experience. Its taken me years to have anyone cut my hair. My hair was long and dead from so many styling tools, I came in and told her to chop it off and give me some partial color. She took so much time into understanding exactly what I wanted and put so much detail into every part of the process. It's also a great feeling when your hair stylist is just as excited for the results as you are. Chelsea is incredibly nice and made me feel comfortable and excited the entire way through! read more

Yay Jennifer! I found this place on Yelp and needed to have a blow out done. I met Jennifer who was mega friendly and fun to talk to. She gave me a scalp massage with essential oils prior to my hair washing, that was so nice! She spent a good amount of time on my hair and even did little things at the end like teasing at the crown, all sorts of fun products and gave me tips along the way. I can't wait for another reason to get a blow out from jennifer, great job! read more

Business hours listed on their website are not their actual hours. Staff answering phone is rude. I called for appointment at 730pm. After the 6th or 7th try, and two hang-ups by the salon, I got through to a woman who said she only answered the phone because she thought it was an emergency. When I asked about an appointment for my daughter she said she did not have the appointment book in front of her and that the salon was closed. Apparently she was at the spa location and my call was forwarded there. She did not apologize. She was not very pleasant at all. read more

Who drives more than 20 miles for a haircut? Evidently I do! In fact, now that I think of it, I'd probably drive 40 miles just so I could keep getting my hair cut by Jennifer. Not 41 miles, though - that's just crazy. Viva Molly Moon, viva Jennifer! read more

Jennifer Albers is the best!!! I am not originally from California, and I spent years trying to find my go-to stylist. I tried friends, referrals, and Yelp recommendations--dozens of different stylists--but the end result was always a little "bleh." Finally, after a while, I was convinced that I just had BAD HAIR... Then I started seeing Jennifer.. I had been dark for a while, & had decided that I wanted to lighten things up a bit. I brought in some photos of a VS model who's beautiful honey-brown hair I pined over. Jennifer suggested a method of lightening called Bali-age, where highlights are painted directly on the hair, resulting in gradual and very natural, sun-kissed-looking lightening. Wow! I loved it. In addition to great coloring, Jennifer also transformed my "whatever" hair with long layers. I've had layers cut before, of course, but always they would end up looking kinked, blunt, or some kind of funky. After Jennifer cut my hair, it had such great shape and flow-- Even without having to style! She also recommended a few great products, (Bumble & Bumble Quench shampoo & conditioner & Moroccan Oil) that I still use to this day. I have been seeing Jennifer for a little over a year now, and would (and do!) highly recommend her to anyone. Every time I visit she is always pleasant & easy to talk to. I'm not a huge "hair person," and I'm not very creative or trendy when it comes to style, so I put the reins in her hands a lot when it comes to deciding what we're going to do. I really trust her. At this point, I have been from dark, to light, to red, to two toned-- she never disappoints! But the best thing of all... I FINALLY HAVE GOOD HAIR!! read more
