We were promptly seated and the band was just about to start playing live Cuban music--super fun and lively vibes! Our waiter was excellent and attentive. We had an assortment of Cuban dishes including the Yuca fries, plantains, Cuban sandwich and ox tails entree. All of our dishes were so flavorful and tasty! This place is close to home, and will be a definite place that I will revisit. Since it's literally down the road, I've been here a couple of times since writing this review. The first time I came here we weren't quite living in the area yet but had a house in mind to buy. The second time was after I bought the house and we were lazy to cook, so we decided to order some takeout from Mojito's. This place is always hopping during dinner time, and there's a reason for it. The food is great. I'm by far no way an expert at Cuban food, but from what I ate it was pretty great. The second time that I came here I got a bit more of the different dishes compared to the first time. I ordered the spicy ox-tail and it was great. The ox tail was braised, and was like a stew where the meat fell off the bone. It's a little pricey, but it was well worth it in flavor and the way it was cooked. We also ordered tamales as well, but I think this wasn't our favorite as we thought the roast pork that was topped off was a little dry. The stuffing inside the tamales was great though. Also, the roast pork comes out a little dry so just a warning if that's not what you're looking for. I think it's missing out on a little bit of sauce or something to not make it so dry. However, on the other hand the pork was flavored. The first time I came here we ordered some empanadas and I got the cubano sandwich. It was pretty simple and nothing too crazy. It was flavorful and done well. I wouldn't say it was dry at all and a perfect sandwich that you can get any time. All in all, everything that I had here at Mojito's was great. I would definitely recommend everyone who is in the area to come and check it out. Or if you have this place on your list of places to try out, you won't regret it. read more

It's been a few years since we've been here. I hate we were too early (came around 1:30) for the live music but the food more than made up for it! We started with the empanadas, 1 need and 1 chicken, and the tamales. The empanadas are plz The tamales are different as the sliced pork is served on top of the tamale. It's very flavorful. I also had a strawberry mojito. They do not skimp on the alcohol. It was strong and sweet like me! We shared the paella for two. It was worth the wait! We could've easily shared the paella for 1 as we took more than half of it home. We filled up two of the large two go containers! SMH! The paella is filled with all types of seafood, mussels, fish, shrimp, calamari, scallops, and is topped with Jonah crab claws. It also has chicken, fried pork chunks, & plantains. We added the steak and chorizo for an extra $6. The flavors of the dish were amazing! The chorizo isn't spicy but has a little bit of a kick to it. It's not bad. My husband doesn't like spicy things and he was able to eat it. Oh, I also had the mango mojito. It was good also. I don't think it was as strong as the 1st one but it was still good. We finished this fabulous meal off with a tres leches to have there and the guava cheesecake that they make in house daily, to go. The tres leches was perfection! I'll say, I got a thing for paella. One day, I'll be fortunate enough to travel to Cuba, and enjoy some that will knock my socks right off. Until then, a trip to Atlanta will have to do. First up, we ordered empanadas. To our surprise, were only slightly smaller than a Jamaican beef patty. And much fuller, not to mention completely delicious. I insist you get those. The drinks were top notch, and refreshing. I had a desire to try another appetizer, but I knew that paella would demand as much stomach space as I could give. There was so much topping on the skillet, I could only barely see the rice. Pork, chicken, squid, scallops, crab, shrimp, mussels, plantains, all piled neatly. Fear not, there is ample rice, and tons of flavor. The size is gargantuan. You know, I've always liked that word, gargantuan. (If you know what movie that line is from, you rock.) So you will certainly have to get the rest to take with you. And it's just as delicious the next day, and the next. I enjoyed my date's avocado salad, since he passed on it. At the time I began writing this review, Mojito's had an average rating of 4.5 stars with 581 reviews (7/19/20). ~~~ THE SCENE I began visiting Mojito's back in September of 2017 just after discovering my new favorite restaurant at the time... Parkside District in nearby Lawrenceville. Like all good yelpers I was spreading the word not just by review, but telling non-yelp friends as well. One of my more well trusted non-yelp friends told me of her favorite new restaurant called Mojito's, so I came to check it out. Life before Covid-19 seems so long ago. In those days Mojito's only had one location and it was packed, especially after 5pm when they offered bottomless mojito's. I ordered the Paella for one as instructed by a friend, but let me tell you, there are easily 3 or more servings in this "order for one" size meal. Typically if I don't write a review straightaway, I'm undecided and want to give them another try. My next meal here came when my eldest son wanted to introduce us to his new girlfriend (now wife) in October of 2017. We had 5 adults in our party that day and ordered a variety of dish including: Tamales, "Loaded" Mariquitas, Empanadas, Classic Paella, Red Snapper Fillet, Crema de Calabasa Soup and Cuban Seafood Gumbo (Zarzuela de Mariscos). Honestly, no one was particularly impressed with their meal, but not upset with it either. So again, I skipped writing a review. Which brings me to July of 2020. Realizing I had never taken my wife here sparked an impromptu date night. We've been sheltering in place and after calling the restaurant and hearing "no wait" and "low crowds", we decided to take a chance. When you first walk in, there is a smaller, more well lit dining area with only two tables. We were lucky to have this section to ourselves for the entire meal. Oddly, this is also where I sat on my very 1st visit years ago. ~~~ THE FOOD & DRINKS I started my meal with a MANGO MOJITO and OMG!!! It was so delicious I ordered two, which is saying a lot considering I'm generally too cheap to order drinks when dining out. (5+ stars) We then ordered YUCA FRIES (4.5 stars) + VEGGIE & CHEESE EMPANADAS (3.5 stars) as appetizers. The fries were great, especially when dipped in the delicious avocado-cilantro sauce included. The empanadas were also good, but unfortunately the cheese did not melt fully in the one. The other included a spinach & mushroom mix that was to my wife's liking. Next came BLACK BEAN CASSEROLE (4 stars) and SPICY OXTAILS (4 stars). Both were good, but still left me wanting just a tad more flavor. The oxtails were surprisingly meaty and super tender! Finally, before completing our meal we ordered the CLASSIC PAELLA to go. We thought our boys would enjoy mom & dad bringing home a little something for them. However, to our surprise neither liked it. It has been a few years since I tasted this dish. Either I forgot, or didn't remember the rice tasting so overwhelmingly fishy. I know this is one of the most popular dishes, but I must admit the flavor is probably the reason I never reviewed this place in my previous two visits. Sometimes it feels a little weird to be the only 2 or 3-star review amongst a sea of high praise. ~~~ FINAL THOUGHTS While I would have likely rated this latest visit 4-stars overall, I thought it best to include my two other visits into my rating consideration. I took the paella home where my boys tried it, but would not eat any more of it. So I doctored it with a little old bay and salt + a few tablespoons of water to re-hydrate it and the boys finally enjoyed it enough to eat. The fishy flavor of the rice can indeed be overwhelming and the old bay helped to tone it down. So far, my favorite items are the Mango Mojito, Yuca Fries w/avocado-cilantro sauce and the Spicy Oxtails. I don't think we will be ordering the paella in future visits, but I'm looking forward to introducing the Guava Baby Back Ribs to my taste buds sometime in the near future. 2020 / read more

I was not a fan of the empanadas; they had olives and potatoes in them which tasted weird. The service from the bartender was okay but as someone who works in the restaurant industry she was not able to multitask so the drinks while we were halfway done with the food. This was our first time eating here, but definitely not our last! We called ahead (so glad that we did), and by the time we arrived, we only had to wait about 20-25 minutes. The band was on a break, and the place was PACKED! We got a nice sized table in the nook, and we were quickly greeted by our server. We got a pitcher of mojitos (great taste and was $35) and got the chicken empanadas as our appetizer. The green dipping sauce (assuming it's some type of avocado crema) was AMAZING. Like absolutely delicious! The empanadas were excellent--flaky, well-seasoned meat, and large. I got the famous Cubano sandwich--this was by far the largest Cuban sandwich that I've ever had! But also, the best. It was on fresh, flaky and perfectly toasted bread, and was absolutely delicious. I would order it again and again! It was only $10, which was absolutely fantastic given the portion sizes. The sandwich came a choice of several sides: I got the congri, which is a rice and black bean mixture. So I was in the area looking for cars and decided to take a break for lunch. Who knew downtown Norcross had such great restaurants. It was in a very cute shopping plaza next to other restaurants, and I took a Lyft but it looks like the parking was a little scarce. But very walkable. I came during lunch which surprisingly was not super busy or had a long wait. The waiters were very attentive and got my drink order right away. Naturally since I was off I opted for a mojito, I watched as the bartender made my drink with precision by hand (so you know it wasn't a pre-made cocktail mix). The drink was good & strong I had to sip slow lol. The bartender was even nice enough to top off my drink with the extra he had from a pitcher. While sitting there waiting on my lunch, I noticed there was a stage for live music which I think they have on the weekends. Onto the grub, I ordered the lunch portion of the Ropa Vieja (nice portion) with a side of rice and beans (not mixed together) it came with sweet plantains, and I ordered a side of the guacamole salad because it looked so good on everyone else's plate. This is a great spot, conveniently located in downtown Norcross. Parking is usually pretty easy unless there is a downtown event. The restaurant is popular, so you may want to get there on the early side if you are visiting on a weekend. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. They play live music on the weekends at night. I have never had anything I did not like. I have enjoyed several salads, the picadillo, the Cuban sandwich, the ropa vieja, and the roasted pork. Recently I visited Mojitos with a friend for a Saturday lunch! Tucked in downtown norcross between other little shops and cafes, Mojitos is located in a cute area with some outdoor seated and limited parking. I love Cuban food, so I was super excited to try everything. Our server was on the slower side which was surprising for a relatively small restaurant but pleasant. I couldn't decide on one appetizer so we opted for the appetizer platter which had stuffed plantains, empanadas, yuca fries, and croquettes. Everything looked amazing but was pretty meh overall and lacked distinguishable flavor. The stuffed plantains are such a great concept but upon trying it, not much flavor and the plantain itself was kind of lost. There was so many entree options but nothing really stood out so I settled on something simple which was the chicken fillet plate. Overall, it was a simple and delicious plate of food. The chicken was huge and seasoned really well. The rice and beans were standard and the plantains were a yummy addition. I'll go back put sit on patio next time where music wasn't as loud. Everyone in our party of 8 raved about the food. Only other problem was we wanted individual checks and was told all they could do was divide the check by the number in the party.
