Ambiance is top, such a cute spot on the drive. coffee is so smooth and rich! The music and overall vibe is so cozy perfect for working or a cute date! The building itself is an old building so the aesthetic is top.

Flat white ... one of the better ones I've had in Vancouver

4.5 stars ... really good roasters in an unassuming spot. This roaster came out of no where for me... I was told that Vancouver downtown and far east downtown had some great coffee roasters. This North Van spot was a great find and I hope it gets more love and attention. Though I will be honest, I think the neighbourhood knows about it. When we were here for an hour, it was a constant stream of take out for their coffee and croissants. This location is pretty amazing as it's quite zen even though the actual coffee roasting and all it's big equipment is right there as well. You can see it through the looking glass. They have a great little patio under the shade of a beautiful big tree. The landscape is... wanting. I mean if you have fond nostalgia of Canadian Tire, then the patio is great but Moja is tucked in an industrial street. The interior of the cafe though is really calming. Lots of big windows lets in warm light and sets off all the nice wood tones of the shared tables. Service here is quick and polite. They don't speak too much but their skill on the latte art is really nice. Check out my pic! Flat White - Honestly one of the better flat whites we had in Vancouver. We loved the first one so much that we got another one with their single origin bean to try out the different notes. The coffee had a really nice strong nutty ending to the sip. It's a touch naturally sweet in the same sense as a good almond would be. It's a darker roast but little acidity to distract you from how good the bean is. The crema was rich and the microfoam was just right. Nice balance with the milk and letting the espresso take centre stage. This is a very very good flat white. 4.5/5 In addition to the drinks, they do have a nice offering of baked treats. A lot of it looked quite good. Especially their croissant. I'm not sure if they're baked in house or not but the pistachio croissant and butter tarts were calling my name. I also did spy my favourite lemon treat in Vancouver, Lemon Bar, here so thats another great local business that I'm happy to support. I love supporting local business and Moja is one of those spots that is deserving. They create a great flavour from those beans but also they have a wonderfully cute little space to showcase their skills.

* VERY disappointing * With the plethora of top notch Yelp reviews, I was really looking forward to trying out the coffee at this North Van roaster. They have a nice glass window overlooking their roasting area from the cafe portion. The niceness ended there though. The service was lackluster as if they just couldn't give a sh*t about their job. This showed both in the customer service and the quality of the espresso shot. This coffee shop is excellent. It is in North Van on the East side of the Canadian Tire on Main St. (that's on the 2nd Narrows Bridge side). They are a high quality micro roaster. They opened a cafe last year or so and boy, did they hit the mark. The staff are all coffee afficionados but they don't rub your nose in it if you are not. They have a beautiful 3 group manual press espresso machine that works differently for all the baristas. That, in my opionion, is what the larger coffee retailers have lost hold of.

Hot double baked almond croissant right out of the oven! This place was a random find for me, we were at a restaurant a block away, and we didn't enjoy the coffee (food was great just not the coffee) so we thought of grabbing another one and also craving something sweet. So I checked yelp and this place was a 2 minute walk away. Modern cafe, my type of spot. I looked at the pastry display, to my disappointment no almond croissant, actually they were pretty limited in options by this time, it was almost 12:30pm. My friend grabbed a latte and so did I, I asked the barista if they had any other pastries except the ones that were out, he said " actually we have double baked almond croissants coming in 6 minutes if you want to wait " this wasn't even a question, Of course I was going to wait. The coffee was lovely, they had their own brand. When the wait was over it was worth it. If you haven't had a fleshly baked croissant you're missing out, especially a double baked almond croissant. For the first time I think I actually used a knife and fork to eat one that's how hot it was. Lots of almonds on top, soft center, buttery, and flaky goodness. Oh it was messy lol but good!!

Moja is one of the best coffee shops in the whole Vancouver. I hope they had more locations around Vancouver, and their hours of operation were longer. They have 9 coffee selections and I love the HOUSE for my French press. And their Espresso Imra is excellent if you are into espresso. BTW their pastry is fresh and delicious if you want to have some carb with your coffee. I recommend them to all my friends and colleagues who appreciate a great cup of coffee. If you try the coffee you won't go to any other places to buy beans or drink coffee. I live in Burnaby and I can only go there during weekend and my wife and I enjoy every sip of our coffee. Regarding customer services, I had an excellent experience with Doug who returned my call in less than an half an hour regarding one of my purchases and helped me out. Again in store, (unfortunately I do not recall his name) the guy who is behind the espresso machine, is superb. read more

Lovely hipster my coffee joint. Think latte art, clean lined design, beautiful shiny espresso machine and artisan baked goods. My husband got an Americano and I got a mocha. His was outstanding. The flavor was complex, rich and earthy. It didn't need anything to make it perfect. For his coffee I would give a 5 star review. For mine I would give a 3 star. This was a very disappointing mocha. The chocolate was so dark that there really wasn't much sweetness. They also don't have whipped cream. OK I know that high end coffee shops don't do a million flavors and run their business like a low end coffee stand, but whipped cream can be made in house and done more gourmet. So my vote is definitely go and enjoy yourself but go for an Americano or maybe a latte. read more

The inside decor is very hipster in a neighborhood that isn't. Interior is nice and clean, lots of seating. They made an amazing latte specific to my preference and dietary needs. Prices were good and the customer service was awesome. I came here on recommendation from another Yelper who wanted to contribute a shop toward my 100 coffee shop in 52 weeks challenge. read more

Very good coffee in the middle of nowhere. It's by the Canadian tire in North Vancouver. I love their medium roast coffee beans. Bought few bags for home and for out-of-town friends. I believe their pastries are from Thomas Haas. It does get pretty busy during weekends. One thing about this place is not so easy to find street parking read more

Amazing! We are new to north shore and have been looking for a great coffee place. Hands down, Moja is the best on the shore and the best we've had in Vancouver. The beans are amazing and the caffe is very cool. I love that's on my morning commute giving me a great reason to drop in for a chocolate croissant! read more

Moja has excellent coffee but terrible customer service. Every time I have called to ask a simple question no one has ever answered the phone. I've gone in on a number of separate occasions and the service is extremely slow. Last time it took 30 minutes for me to get a mocha because there was one barista. The employees do not greet you with happiness or engage in conversation. This place serves one purpose- roasting good coffee. This is not somewhere you go for the experience. read more

I don't know about their cafes, but I tried their coffee at the Cedar Cottage Coffee House in East Vancouver a few weeks ago. I went back yesterday to buy some beans for home use. The coffee is excellent. I am not a coffee snob, but I also don't think Starbucks is the best coffee (by any measure). I am always up for a change. read more

While the coffee taste great, the decor could improve. I have been going to this coffee shop almost everyday for the last year and not one person ever says hi to me or tries to remember my order. It doesn't have a warm, friendly feel to it. There is something nice about being a regular at a coffee shop....but this doesn't have it. And it's really too bad. The taste of their coffee is what keeps me coming back and that's it. read more

I try other coffees - Stumptown, Intellgentsia, 49th, JJ, Kafka, Republica, Klatch, etc - but Moja is the foundation of our coffee bar which includes a Salvatore E61 Leva, Nuova Simonelli Mythos and Baratza Sette. Their beans are truly outstanding and their twice/year sale of $10 bags is a must-attend. Staff are really nice too! read more

Things I always like to look for in a coffee shop are warm and friendly staff, neat layout design for a creative environment, and of course a great cup'a joe! Moja- though a little bit cramped in the busy periods is all these things and more. I take my coffee black usually as an americano, and the americano served at Moja is arguably one of the best I've had in the city. It's dark and rich but not so dark that it starts to taste bitter or acidic. There is a light and almost sweet quality to it that I can only describe as roasted chocolate. It pairs incredibly well with their pastries! Coolest part of the shop has to be that it is also a roasters and they actually have a window where you can see what's going on in the back. I really love this place, I just wish the space was a bit bigger! Just a note to laptop users, they do not have any public wifi, though there is a Shaw-Wifi in the area for those that are a part of that service. read more

Look as far as the coffee goes, the coffee is good. The problem with this place is their poor costumer service. Second to last time they gave my friend attitude because they made a mistake and gave her regular milk instead of soy milk. My friend is allergic to dairy. If she had that latte she would've been ill and even then it shouldnt matter cause they made the mistake. I let it go cause it was someone i hadnt seen before so i figured this person was new and wouldnt last. But last time I was there it was busy. I knew my drinks were gonna take time cause of how busy it was. And then i realized people were getting served before me even though i ordered first. I was the second to last to be served in that rush even though i came in quite early. The reason? Cause i ordered lattes. And most people ordered americanos and those were easier, so once easier is better regardless to them it was ok to serve everybody else and leave me last cause i decided to order lattes. Never have i seen such a logic were its ok to delay someone cause steameing the milk might take a few extra seconds. And i know this was the case cause the girl behind the counter said so. I rather go back to the JJbean nearby. read more

Coffee-snobs will love Moja! They have old-school machines that make espresso quite delicious... and I swear they put more espresso in their latte's than most other places. Beautiful venue, (although one has to deliberately stop to get there, not an intuitive place for coffee), beautiful interior, and delicious coffee. Now for the negatives: staff was cold and detached, the food was only snack-worthy with limited healthy options, parking was barely existent, and no more than 10 people could sit in the tables/seats provided. I understand there is a pretentiousness that can come in cafes, but in the end, you work a service job. And although the staff listen to your orders carefully...one might barely feel welcome. I even overheard one customer almost back-tracking/apologizing after asking how many shots of espresso are in her drink. I'm sorry, but having worked in coffee-shops, restaurants, etc... the customer should never feel they have to back-track or apologize. It's called a perma-smile, and if you work with people, you wear it! Or if not you, one of your co-workers. This place had a perma-stoned look or perma-apathy look. Not really acceptable.
