The coffee here is delicious-- I had the dark roast and returned the next day for another cup. Unfortunately, the customer service doesn't match the quality of the drinks. The employee at the counter was far more interested in her conversation with the other employee than in greeting or acknowledging the customers. Their conversation never broke, and I had to repeat my order multiple times, which made the whole experience frustrating. Great coffee, but the staff could use some training in basic attentiveness.

This place is to die for the bakery is absolutely fresh. I can consider this to be my best breakfast spot in BC. service was awesome. Location is relaxing and great atmosphere. Will be back soon

Convenient location for such a lovely shop. Great natural light throughout the day. Smaller selection of food and drinks, but what they have is well executed. A nice visit for locals and travelers alike.

Until my recent visit to Vancouver, I had never heard of JJ Bean before. Turns out it is a popular coffee chain in Vancouver. Stumbled across this exquisite location that is one street down from Robson Street. The location seems to attract a mix of folks, Robson shoppers but also business people as this space is close to the Financial District. The interior of this cafe is great as it has two levels of seating. The upstairs seating overlooks the coffee bar area. There is also outdoor seating here which is good for warm days. The food offerings seem a bit more extensive than your usual coffee house as they have baked goods and sandwiches. The coffee prices here are cheaper than in Seattle once you factor in the CAD-USD currency conversion rate. Ordered a large (grande) caffe latte ($4.50) and the drink was well made with bold flavor and creamy froth on top. It is on par with my favorite coffee places in Seattle like Caffe Vita and Zeitgeist. I really like this space as it is sleek looking. I tried to get a seat upstairs, but there were none available so I ended up taking a seat at the high bar table instead. I think you may have a problem finding the seat you want here at certain times of the day here because of the location. Enjoyed the coffee at JJ Bean. They have many locations around town, so I will consider going to them on future visits to Vancouver rather than my default place, Starbucks.

Came here to get some coffee. Parking here is pretty crappy, so you may want to walk. The interior is surprisingly upscale. Special mention here. I felt like I was in some high end furniture store. Glass and metal everywhere. The coffee was quite decent.

The cafe recently opened in July 2010. Both levels of the restaurants boast a very clean line modern minimalist decor. The second level is more like a catwalk around the perimeter of the restaurant overlooking the service counter to the inside and the streets through the 2 storey glass windows. There are also sidewalk seating outside the restaurant. Coffee, tea and pastry items are standard. A great place to chill out and people watch.

No wifi. They have a sign up explaining that it's on purpose, because they want it to be more like an old-fashioned coffee shop. Um, okay. Enjoy. I'm going to somewhere I can check my email. kthxbai.

Great coffee, dark roast in general. No aftertaste, minimal acidity. Worth going in for a cup.

Something pulled me toward JJ Bean....and with it being a local business it made it even a sweeter deal. I like my coffee strong, black, piping hot and served in a quality cup. So, I just keep it simple. Large Dark Roast with an Everything Bagel, which really hit the spot. The bagel was fresh, tasty and definitely a favourite. Their Rhubarb Danish took me back to my childhood in Switzerland, as it was a homemade family regular. The carefully blended sweet and sour rhubarb weaved into the perfectly baked pastry finished with toasted almonds. All of that...followed by a sip of what I can only rightly name as a cup of exquisite ground beans with character....... Yeah....I want my coffee to have character. Yup JJ. For those reading my other reviews, the basics are my baselining tool when trying a new place. The latte was as good as I've had them. The roast used was slightly acidic, fruity (to me) and had a little pleasant lingering palate. It like to sit with my drinks and take them slowly and this one was enjoyable to the last sip. The scone was excellent. The cheesy crisp was perfect. and texture was light but firm. The ambiance was extremely comfortable. The table layout alone is worth the stop. I would love to bring five friends for stop here. I LOVE the seating configurations. So many ways to use a fixed seating layout. The cappuccino was also well done; the coffee cut nicely through the milk and stayed balanced. The hot chocolate deserves a special mention -- one of the best we've had. My kid finished the whole thing, which says a lot. For food, we tried the ham and cheese pastry, which was light, crispy, and nicely melty inside. The marshmallow popcorn chocolate cookie was delicious and chewy, though it felt slightly overbaked -- most of the chew came from the marshmallow rather than the dough. The breakfast sandwich was decent if you're in a hurry, but nothing particularly unique and the least impressive item we tried. The aesthetic was dark and retro, fitting perfectly with the Gastown vibe. Warm lighting near the seating made it a cozy spot to get some work done or relax before heading out. Overall, I'd happily come back for the coffee and warm snacks. Great spot for small groups -- I'd say up to about six people.

Happy to discover that this place was nice and quiet inside so would definitely consider coming back here again. Food was awesome. I absolutely loved my Shakshuka. Might be the best Shakshuka I've ever had. Not that I'm any authority figure on what a Shakshuka should taste like. But I really enjoyed this one. The combination of flavors, the runny egg yolks, the gooeyness of the cheese...it was just such a wonderfully comforting and belly warming meal. I saw a Cinnamon Honey Latte on the board and decided to order that for my drink. These days, I can never tell when the word "Latte" is being used to describe a coffee beverage or whether it's being used to describe a beverage that has milk in it. A Matcha latte for example, tends to just be a sweetedned Matcha beverage with milk in it. No coffee thrown in. I was kinda hoping this Cinnamon Honey Latte would be milk with cinnamon and honey thrown in. It turned out to be a coffee beverage. No complaints about it. It's on me for assuming that it was milk with cinnamon and honey thrown in. I should have probably asked our server about the beverage before simply ordering it. Will make sure to do that if/when we end up here again. Kinda had my eye on the Turkish Apple Tea though so might just order that next time and the whole "Latte" dilemma wouldn't be an issue with that. My daughter's Avocado Toast looked super yummy as well. Might try ordering that next time, although Michelangelo's Mediterranean Spread was also kinda calling out to me!
