There are too many numerous great things I can say about the owner, Moises! I called Moises business before I even looked at his reviews. Moises came to redo two walkways that my landscaper said he could do the pavers. I already knew while pavers make the "WOW" factor, the pavers themselves are 1/3 the cost, and the labor is about 2/3 the project. There also are some factors that play in the delay of installation that is unforeseeable like , weather, obstructions such as tree roots, water sprinklers systems, gas lines, and electric lines. Fortunately, we had none of these! I called Moises on a Wednesday, met with him the next day, called him on Friday morning, to start the job on Saturday. He gave me a two day completion installation on my walkways. His crew came in and were killing it in the over 100 degree heat. Not only did those young men finish the job in one day, they cleaned up everything like they were never there. I grew up in a family of construction and landscaping professionals, that took pride in their work and always exceeded the customer's expectations. If I did not know better, I think Moises had our DNA!!! Some of the reviews were negative, this was not my experience at all. Moises was professional, knowledgeable and a straightforward on his contracts and everything was in writing what the scope of the work is, no surprises. My brother who is a commercial landscaper and lives in Florida and told me his pricing is very reasonable compared to Florida paver experts. I am so glad I went with Moises Pizana Hardscapes. See attached images. When Moises came over to provide an estimate, he educated me on the proper way to install a retaining wall to last. I saw some photos of previous work he did and liked how precise the wall were done. I had railroad ties that were falling over. His crew had an incredible challenge because I didn't want my AC or the neighbor's fence disturbed. To add to the challenge, the ties were staked in about 6 feet! His crew had to chip away at the ties to accommodate my requirements and did it with perfection. The work took a little bit longer than expected but their work ethics were that they would rather get done right than on time which I really appreciate. The end result as you can see is that they did an incredible job. Since they did so well with wall, I had them install pavers to extend my back patio. That was another great job! I had a little garden patch that I thought I wanted to keep but the foreman pointed out that there would be drainage issues and recommended against it. It made sense so I went with it. Moises Pizana had what I consider to be a great first impression; he came off dedicated and knowledgeable. Moises Pizana arrived on time wearing a suit to quote my outdoor kitchen. I was enthusiastic because he seemed committed and ready to do a great job on my outdoor kitchen. The plan was to create two separate areas that would house my grill, drawers, a warming drawer, cabinets and an outdoor fridge. My wife wanted the same stone used on our pool put on the outdoor kitchen so the backyard would flow. There are currently issues with the way the stone is being put on the grill. The framework was done to my satisfaction, where I'm concerned at this point is the finish work. The finish work is what we will look at everyday once they builders have moved on... It needs it to look as good as my pool finish work did. We talked to Moises about the work done and he insists the work is fine. The problem is, the company that did our pool did the brick work correctly, so we have the correct work 10 feet away to show as an example. He admitted he hasn't worked with this type of stonework before, but won't admit that his work is inferior. He even had the nerve to tell my wife "I knew you were going to be a problem when I walked in your home". After a brief conversation yesterday, he leaves my house and asks if I can make the final payment. Really? You've damaged my home, your work is sloppy, theres mortar all over my deck and you've not installed my appliances. Yet you want more money? Upon further investigation, it appears the gentlemen installing the outdoor kitchen made their tile cuts on my pool deck and now I have at least 15 slice marks where the blade cut into my pool deck. I'm furious. Also, where they used their machine, there is rust on my concrete. His guys attempted to rub the stain out with a wire brush, now there is damage where they scrubbed and you can still see the stain from the rust. I'm disappointed in not only the work, but how he handled the escalation. What makes me crazy is when my wife and I are showing him the corners on the pool which was done correctly, and all he could tell me is "it's fine, it's fine". IT'S NOT FINE, IT LOOKS HORRIBLE. We were initially impressed by the work performed by Moises and his team when we contracted them to replace our crumbling concrete pool deck with pavers. The job required the installation of a retaining wall, a stone walkway, space for gardens and landscaping, and the replacement of two in-pool skimmers. Moises was very accessible, responsive, attentive and made great recommendations about the color, size and scope of the project. His crew was prompt, courteous, and exceedingly hardworking, despite the heat and humidity of a brutal Texas summer. Within a month of completion, we noticed that the pavers were moving, creating gaps of up to 1" between stones. Moises sent a crew out to reset the pavers. Within the month, the pavers were moving again, and it was decided that the pavers would need to be pulled up and the groundwork redone, which cost us an additional $4500. The pavers near the door of the pool house were also moving, which caused rainwater to seep under the doors instead of flowing toward the drain. Moises refused to rest the stones, assuring us they would eventually settle and be fine. (They haven't settled yet.) Within seven months the materials used to replace the skimmers and reset adjacent tiles failed, causing the pool to leak, and tiles to fall off, leaving gouges in the gunite where they fell. One of the pipes the workers installed broke at the joint, so we hired another plumber to make the repairs. The new plumber showed us the section of pipe he removed so we could see that the pipes had been improperly installed. Despite the failures of his crew, who are admittedly better at setting pavers than making pool repairs, Moises charged us an additional $2000 to complete the work. I told him we shouldn't have to pay since the problem was caused by his faulty materials and installation. He argued that the problems were the result of a recent freeze (we've had the pool for over 23 years and plenty of freezes without any such incidents), but he insisted we pay, which we did because we were afraid he would put a lien on the house, which had recently gone on the market. He laughed and said this is how he could afford his lavish lifestyle. It wasn't funny. Additionally, soon after my husband signed the initial contract, Moises began flirting with me. I reasoned that as a salesman, this was how he endeared himself to all his female customers, and tried to ignore him. Soon he was attempting to hug and kiss me when he stopped by to inspect the work, and was asking me out to lunch, dinner and/or drinks at expensive bars and restaurants. He offered to take me joy-riding in his expensive cars. He called, he texted, he even sent pictures of himself in a Speedo on a Florida beach and asked me if I would send him "a good picture" of me. He said he hoped my husband wasn't reading the texts he sent me. Moises and crew do beautiful work with pavers, and it will cost you plenty, but you'll want him to stay away from non-paver projects--and your wife. read more

I cannot speak to the quality of work because we never got there. After signing a contract in early May, I was given a start date of 6/22. A few days before, I was told it would be another week. After that week, I was delayed another week, and after that week, I was delayed another week. This happened two more times before I finally gave up asked for my money back. I do understand that COVID-19 has greatly affected the availability of workers, supplies, etc. However, this should have been factored in to the original start date rather than stringing me along from week to week six times. I honestly did not believe them the final time they told me I was "so close" to being "next" on the schedule. Luckily I was able to get my deposit money back and I have hired another contractor. read more

After receiving three different quotes for a project (demo a 26'x16' deck and build a patio), I contacted Moises Pizana. On Sat, Sep 30, he arrived well-dressed in his BMW 750li for the estimate. His communication skills and knowledge left a good impression (1st star earned). He returned the next day (Oct 1). I signed an agreement and paid 50% with check. I clarified that his estimate was the highest one, but his reviews were impressive on HomeAdvisor. Unfortunately, I had not noticed only two reviews on Yelp, both with 1-stars. I informed him of three more projects including a pavers, fence and bathroom remodeling, contingent upon the quality of this project. The project was to start the following day, Oct 3 (Tue). I took the day off, rescheduled my business appointments and waited. At about 11am, I learnt that project is postponed to next day due to bad weather (drizzle around 5am), and it remained cleared rest of the day. He promised again to arrive the next morning, Oct 4 (Wednesday). For the second time, I took the day off from work. Once again, I could not get a hold on him until about 12:30pm, because he was in the meetings. I told him it was a beautiful sunny day, and he could have his team come out to tear down the deck. He responded he would have to pay for an additional day of labor, which I later learned was $90 to $120 per day depending on experience (regardless of the number of hours). On Thur, Oct 5, my third day off from work, four guys showed up at 8:30am, tore down the 26'x16' deck by noon, prepared the ground and poured the gravel before the end of day. The sand was not enough, and pavers had not arrived, so they couldn't continue. On Fri Oct 6, my mom had a surgery scheduled. I took her to hospital early in the morning and returned by 8am. The team arrived with more sand and the pallets of red and black pavers. I asked Moises to replace a few red pavers with black ones for a little design. He started asking for more money for additional work, which made no sense, since it was merely placing a black paver instead of red without any cutting. Then his employees informed him that they were running short on red, and black would have to be used, so he agreed "as a courtesy", and tried to teach me about "no free lunch" in US. Then he asked for the remaining balance and refused payment thru credit card, because he did not have his credit card machine, and they would charge him fees? So I gave him a check with the understanding that the job would be over in couple of hours, and it was moving along satisfactory enough up to that point. He left with the check and that was the last I heard from him. The guys kept laying down pavers and ran out of red ones, so had to use black in one section where I wanted red. Moises had miscalculated and ordered wrong quantity (for black border and red in the middle). Next, the guys used two bags of polymeric sand. I provided them with my leaf blower and extension as they were simply sweeping with a broom. They told me they did not bring additional sand and would return early in the morning. I was upset, but had no choice. I got ready and went back to hospital. On Sat, Oct 7, while at the hospital (and spending the night there), I texted Moises at 10am as to where the guys were to "complete" the job. No response, but one of the four showed up with two bags of polymeric sand at about 11am. As I reviewed the security cam video, he had used the broom to spread the sand all over, and sprayed with water only once. No plate compactor or leaf-blower was used. He was barely there for 30 min. When I got back from hospital on Monday (Oct 9), I noticed uneven gaps between pavers, the sand was not filled in thoroughly and some of it was glued on top of pavers. I texted Moises, but no response yet again. Now I am stuck with a patio that looks bad (2nd star for job completion). I wonder who ended up with a free lunch? One thing for sure; no more projects or referrals for Moises from me! read more

BEWARE !! DO NOT USES THIS COMPANY!! Big talkers and poor workmanship! Moises never came by to ck progress stages while they drained the pool, replastered and replaced concrete walkway. Javier, the lead, did such a lousy job finishing grout, etc. We had to repeatedly call them to come back . There are areas of grout that still have cracks; Javier left mortar in the bottom of the pool; its a mess! read more

DO NOT USE THIS GUY....!!! Moises comes off as a professional but is far from it. I wish I had seen these reviews before I hired him to do my job. From the beginning he came out in his suit, well dressed and his BMW. This is all a front to lure you in. He quoted me a price then once the job was complete he said he needed more money cause his guys did extra that I never asked them to do. I paid it just to get him out of my hair and off my property. The guys showed up to do my project two months later after I gave him 50% of his asking price up front. Yes, the were TWO MONTHS late. I should've stopped him then and asked for my money back. The work which was done was very substandard. He promised to have the work done in three days and it took a week and a half. Three out of those days his guys never showed up. His guys removed things from my back patio and never bothered to replace them. Caveat Emptor... Let the buyer beware. Oh one last thing, I almost forgot. They installed a fire pit but didn't put it together. They left it partially assembled. If you know like I know if you see this guy coming, go in the other direction. read more

Moises Pizana assured us he would build a beautiful wall and there would be no water drainage issues, he would take care of that, he would slope all land away from the house toward the new wall and with drain pipe around the wall, it would carry the water away. He did build a beautiful wall. However that was the only thing he did right, he built the wall and sloped the land TOWARD the house. He created a major water issue, as with a rainfall less than 1", we were outside digging a ditch to drain the water away from the house, as it was dangerously close to coming inside the house. He was called, came to the house and said it was not problem, they would fix the issue within 2 weeks, NO SHOW! Moises refused to answer our calls, Husband calls from his work phone and he answered, oh well, we will be there by the end of the week, NO SHOW! Called again, said he would fix it within 3 days, NO SHOW! We are now paying again to have a problem HE CREATED corrected. He is not a man of his word. He does not stand by his work. There are so many other negatives I can list, all he wants is his money, he is NOT a trustworthy man. AVOID. read more

I recently hired Moises to construct a wall. After the initial quote came in and I agreed to a price he then asked me for more money because he "forgot" something. This has happened 3 additional times. He keeps asking for more money. I unfortunately paid him in full and he still has not finished the job and refuses to answer my calls. The installation was half hearted at best and there were problems that I had to hire other contractors to fix at additional costs because he would not address them or even answer my calls. Stay away from him and his business unless you want to over pay and create many problems! The 1 star rating is very generous. read more
