I went here because we needed a new filter for our pool. It was a large above ground pool we recently bought from Walmart and lots of people said we should upgrade to a sand filter. We bought a hot tub from Moir's about 3 years ago. The tub we bought was excellent but it recently developed 2 cracks in the shell. Moirs told us that as long as they have been selling this product that only two had this problem. We sent them a picture and they called the manufacturer which is Freeflow spas. Freeflow immediately said we will send them a new one. Moirs fordered the same spa and within a couple of weeks we had our new spa. Moirs went above and beyond installing and rewiring our new one. They sent out two guys Steve and Casey, to install the new one and remove the old one. They were excellent and caring. They helped position the spa and made sure it was full and running before they left. None of this cost us one penny.Dealing with Teresa and Don Moir is like dealing with family. A few weeks ago I noticed my hot tub was not hot, of course this was after a long day of aches and pains and I was super bummed. I fiddled with the controllers and pouted my way back to the house. I googled hot tub repairs, with Aqua Man (lake port) coming up as my solution. I called Aqua man and spoke to "Scott" who said he could come the following week for $180.00 just to see the hot tub and then go from there. So booked the appointment, what else could I do..?? Then to my surprise, my hot tub kicked on and started heating again, I waited a whole day before I canceled my appointment. The hot tub was hot and made it all the way through the 4th of July festivities.. When my company left, I had that same aches and was ready to submerge in some bubbles only to open and get into a cold tub. Bummer!!!! Again!!?? The very next day I was dropping off my dogs off at Dirty Dog Day Care (Ukiah-plug) and saw Moir's, I had forgot the even existed. I Yelped them and was super disappointed by all the negative reviews. So, instead I got on line and began to research my hot tub issues, maybe I could fix it on my own, maybe it was something easy, after all they're not that complicated. I was sure it had to be the pump. After a few days... I took a chance and I called Moir's, Theresa assured me that Erwin (hot tub guy) would call me back and schedule an appointment. Erwin was able to fit me in the following week. He came up, confirmed it was my pump. But.... My hot tub was full and against the deck rail, Erwin could not get to it. He suggested I empty it, move it, take the panel off, and send him pictures of the pump, since I was doing all the leg work, he did not charge me for his visit. I did what he asked and he was able to find me a new pump and scheduled the following Friday to install it (today). Since I just became a hot tub *expert I too, looked up the pumps to see what I could find. Erwin was able to save me a few dollars through his cost, he was prompt and completed the job in 47 mins.. (Lucky)... He said I would be billed, I was ready to break out my credit card (they do not use Square ..yet.. I sure hot they will in the future) and I expect my bill to be a little less than 400$ (280 ish pump and 100 labor). I highly recommend Erwin for your hot tub needs. I must also note that I did not purchase my hot tub through Moir's and read in a few yelps that Moir's refused to work on any hot tubs not purchased through them, that is not true. After buying a pump that was a new motor with an old case, the motor went out within five minutes I open up the case to used, rusted motor. Gave solutions but Don continued to talk over me and wanted to hear nothing. Did not even want to fix the problem. Just sent me back my money and left me to dump a broke motor. If he would have given me 5 minutes on the phone to get out all the issues I had( was not yelling or name calling) then we might have been able to get to a solution. Even drive 1.5 hours out of our way to go back and get a working pump for this holiday weekend! Sad!! And then the comment he made is that he was responsible! read more

While I wanted to "shop local"... I tried. Moirs appears to be the only game in town when it comes to spas. The service I obtained in my search for my first spa was horrible at best. The young man didn't really seem to know the products. He never introduced himself to me or even asked my name. While I told him I was shopping for a spa he barely gave me the time go day to compare the different spas they sold, other than price range and that "this one is my dad's personal spa." Needless to say I went to Sonoma county the next day and found our spa. All the dealers I dealt with there were quite helpful! Last spring my wife and I went to Moir's to buy a pool and a hot tub (called a spa these days, but I still call them hot tubs). We had a complicated plan that involved quite a bit of excavation due to living on a hill, some cement work, deck work, and a gated fence. Don and his wife spent a tremendous amount of time with us making suggestions, explaining details, answering questions (and I had a LOT of questions!) and recommending someone to do all the work. We are very happy with our pool and our hot tub. Don made some astute suggestions that really paid off for us. Since that time I have talked to both Don and Teresa many times when issues came up as they invariably do and they have always taken the time to explain things and be helpful. The whole point of buying local is service and Don and Teresa have always provided great service to us. They have always come through for me. Their service is great and they are really nice people, willing to help. I didn't expect them to be competitive with online businesses for pool supplies, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that often they had the best price too. Moir's is a local family-owned business that has been in business for as long as I can remember, so they have lots of expertise when it comes to various pool problems, and what works and what doesn't. I first went to Moir's when our new home needed a replacement cover for an extra-large swim-spa. I was surprised by how large the store was and how much stuff they carry. I never would've thought to go to the pool store for patio furniture. Anyway, I had already shopped around online and was happy to find that Moir's was about 2/3rds the cost. We purchased the cover from them and have been very pleased with it. I've since returned for various oddball supplies and parts and, so far, Moir's has been able to locate everything I've needed (and called me when my parts were in). Could I locate the same stuff online? Possibly (if I can find it), but Moir's comes with free advice, their prices are competitive, and there's no hassles with returns if you get the wrong part. If you have any problems, just ask for Don. He seems genuinely interested in keeping customers coming back. read more

My wife and I were thinking of purchasing and installing our own above ground pool. Since we have never dealt with a pool store or manufacturer before we started off by talking to the folks at our two local pool stores. We walked out of each store not impressed at all. We looked outside of our local area and discovered Moir's in Ukiah. I was very impressed with Don from the start. In my initial phone conversation with Don, he took his time to discuss which pool was best for my home. Don offered different pool configurations giving me the pros and cons for each pool style which provided the information my wife and I needed to select the right pool. He made that job much easier for us. And Moir's was cheaper than our two local pool stores. When we drove up to Ukiah to pick up the pool equipment, Don and his family were very helpful in explaining everything to us. From the equipment we were getting to all the extras that came with the pool package we selected. I've never installed a pool before so of course I had a lot of questions throughout that process. Don was always very willing to share his knowledge and experience with Doughboy pools. It was always a pleasure to talk with Don. It made my pool installation a success! WOW! I'd driven by Moir's several times in the past but never gone in. First of all I was shocked at the size of the building and inventory. Everything under one roof from Pools and Spas chemicals not to mention all the high quality patio furniture. I'd been looking for a spa to purchase but every store I'd been in only had a limited selection. Moir's must of had 10-12 spas on the floor. So after a couple of hours talking with Don and Teresa I made my selection and had it delivered. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I own a rental in Ukiah with a pool and spa (I live and work in Santa Rosa)...in 2008 we installed a new saline filter system, a new liner, and new deck around the pool...(No, we didn't buy it from Moirs....it's an in ground/above ground 'doughboy' type pool) Moirs started taking care of the pool when the new tenants took over in May 2014...I recently checked in on the property and found a nice GREEN ring around the pools perimeter! I immediately called Moirs and spoke with the owner Don. He was apologetic and helpful. He said he'd have Jeff, the technician call me the next day Saturday...when Jeff called, I asked if he was still maintaining the property and he indicated he was, twice a month...I told him I was upset and that it certainly didn't look like it was being taken care of properly, as evidenced by the nice big green ring around it...he didn't like my upset tone, wouldn;'t let me air my grievances, kept talking over me, and then he promptly hung up in my ear...I called back, only to be hung up on again by Jeff!! I called back and spoke with Dons wife, expressing dismay over Jeffs short demeanor, and she said, "we don't have negative customer service issues or complaints", as SHE promptly hung up in my ear as well!! I called back and Jeff indicated that if I called back he would report me to the Sherriffs Dept for harrassment!!! Cause I was I was displeased with their service...or lack of it!! I was NOT not being rude, but I was upset...(hanging up in my ear three times certainly didn't help much!) I just wanted to know why they were being paid to take care of my pool, yet they weren't doing what they were paid for! It looked like crap! The customer service SUCKS at Moirs. I get the distinct impression that business SUCKS and the employees are not happy....U can almost feel the tension when u walk in...if u want your pool taken care of call someone other than Moirs...problem is, Moirs is practically the ONLY pool maintenance service in the greater Ukiah area...where else can you go?? That's part of their problem too, no competition....it's obvious that their customers aren't a priority....it you don't like the way they treat you, "there's the door"...is their attitude! I bought a spa from them four or five years ago. It has started to leak water from the jets and Moirs does not have a technician to fix the problem. I was advised to try and locate the leaks and they would give me the parts. There were so many leaks that I did not want to tackle the problem. My suggestion, don't sell products you can't service! read more
