My smoke alarm started beeping and going off at 7 PM. In a panic, I started calling people on Yelp, hoping to find someone who could come out on a Tuesday night at 7 PM. I was worried it would be going on and off all night long, interrupting our sleep all night. Moeller Electric picked up the call on the first ring, and over the phone walked me through how to fix the alarm. It was very stressful, as the alarm was blaring in my ears while I was up on the ladder, but they stayed on the phone with me and walked me through it. They did not charge me for this. EDIT: This review has been modified in light of new information. Please read the whole thing. First off, let me say that their work may very well be top-notch, but I'll never know. Also, Derek seemed like a very nice and knowledgeable guy. This review stems completely from the poor service. I initially contacted another electrician who is prominent on Yelp requesting a quote. After months of being given the run-around by them, we finally got an appointment set up at 3pm on a day in December. So 3pm rolls around and instead of the electrician showing up, I get a call from Derek at Moeller. He says he was they referred me to him. Not at all Derek's fault. I told him I had an appointment for pretty much right now and he hopped in his truck and came over. So I had a very good impression of him at this point. We discuss a number of things I wanted done and he lists a few options. Very helpful. Then he takes down my info, says he'll email me the quote and we part ways. Three weeks go by and I still haven't heard anything. Now I feel like I've been blown off by two electricians. Although that is pretty unprofessional, I don't want to find another electrician and go through the whole thing again. Plus, I liked Derek well enough when we spoke. So I call him back. He remembers me and apologizes for dropping the ball. We confirm my email address again as well as the details of the quote and he says he'll get it out to me soon. EDIT: When I originally wrote this review, it had been a long while and I thought Derek had ignored my second request. Recently, however, I have spoken with him and it turns out he had sent out a quote following my second request in January - but sent it to the wrong email address. I did go to pains to make sure the correct address was supplied in both of the above cases, but I do accept that this was an honest mistake. So my only legitimate complaint can be about not receiving the initial December quote in a timely fashion. I have increased my rating to reflect that. I am glad that many other people have found Moeller Electric's work to be great and I would have liked to find that out, myself. read more

Derek is very knowledgeable and offered up different ways of completing the job (which turned into more jobs at my request) at hand. Derek has done electrical work for us half a dozen times. The work has included the big projects like changing out the breaker panel and the important little things like smoke detectors and an attic fan. He is fast, and his work is really clean. He is also just a super good guy. He communicates well and with integrity. I will hire Derek for every project that I have, and I recommend him to my friends without reservation as well. He is so efficient and cost effective as a result that I don't even bother slowing things down with competitive bids or estimates any more, just call him up and let him get 'er done. We called Derek because of the already great Yelp reviews. We needed a little help splitting one fixture into two for the completion of a bathroom remodel, so we hoped to have it done quickly. We called Derek on a Saturday evening and he had the job complete by Monday evening. Derek is extremely helpful and friendly and wonderful to military. Derrick Moeller did a fantastic job. He came out immediately the day before Thanksgiving.We had him do several jobs installing new electrical outlets. He recommended options that saved us money. I wanted to have lighting installed throughout my house - recessed lights in the kitchen, living room, and hallway, plus ceiling lights in the bedrooms. Moeller Electric was one of five companies I contacted, and one of four quotes I received. I chose to work with Derek not only because of his competitive bid, but also due to his eye for safety. He didn't come in and only look at the work I wanted to get done, but provided an overall safety inspection. His additional safety fixes were all common sense (smoke detectors not correctly installed, hot water heater not properly grounded, etc.) and did not add much cost to the overall bid. I found out today that my drip irrigation system was not getting power, so my 1/2 acre garden had not been getting water (and this during a heat wave). I called several electricians, but Derek was the only one who picked up the phone. He took the time to walk me through some tests, and we were able to get the power back on by resetting a GFI on another part of the property. No charge.
