Thank you Yelp! When my subwoofer on my PA system stopped working, I opened it up and knew a few wires were loose. I didn't have the tools or the knowledge to fix and thought it would be an easy job for someone who knew what they were doing. Where do I find this person and what kind of shop would service this? Turns out there was this place, very close to my house in a discreet business strip. I read the reviews and knew this place could help. Benny's shop is small and he had old school stereo equipment scattered throughout. He was super nice and required a $50 deposit. He said he would either fix it, or call if it was more than $50 so I could decide whether or not to proceed. His call was to me the next day saying it was finished! Benny is the man when it comes to vintage audio. I've seen work he's done for friends and it was very impressive. I bought an expensive turntable that had some issues and dropped it off to him when I went on vacation for a week. I came back and it was ready. One thing was just a tad off and took it back to him and he gladly corrected it for free. Taking it back was my fault because I did not describe the issue correctly. He charges a $50 deposit when you drop it off, that gets applied to any repair needed. His prices are extremely fair and he doesnt pad on extra charges expecting you to not know any different. My turntable was only the $50 to repair, it needed some tonearm adjustments. Since the tonearm was more complex than the typical "S" tonearms, I didnt want to roll the dice and try it myself. I had called another local tech and they were asking $150... This is the only place my gear is going. I feel so lucky to have such a great tech locally, it's rare to find someone with his skillset and fair prices. I have nothing but good things to say about his services. He also makes his own tube amps, preamps, phono stages, speakers, etc. Everything is made by hand and it extremely high quality and sounds amazing. I'm saving up my pennies for one of his phono stages. All work from the case on in is done by hand. He also specializes in B&O equipment restores and modifications. Have a B&O turntable that requires the expensive needle replacement? He can mod the table to accept a Grado cartridge. If you're into vintage audio and have some items needing repairs, call Benny. I am the owner of an EICO ST 70. It was sold as a self build kit Amp in the 60's. A friend recapped it a few years ago and modified the speaker connections & outputs. When it comes to Audiophile equipment I trust no one but Benny for advice or repair. He has already repaired my Yamaha receiver, Sansui turntable, Pioneer Reel to Reel, B&W speakers and he has also upgraded my Bogen tube amp all at a very reasonable price and in timely manner. He is very knowledgeable and friendly and I say he's got Golden Ears which is a necessary part of audiophile repair and modifications. Don't take my word for it just take your speakers, amp, turntable, etc... to him and let him listen to them, he'll tell you what is wrong with them, if they are worth to fix and what it takes to make them sound better by just listening to them for a few minutes. He also builds his own speakers, Amps and Preamp which can compete with brand name audio components 10 times the price.
