I got to MJC and I'm about to sue these people for discrimination. They let drug addicts and alcoholics to be loud, stops for them, puts the ramp down for them but for parents with strollers, single parents or people that don't look BUSTED, they discriminate against. My son had a medical emergency and the bus driver pulled over and refused to move. My son had a baseball sized bump on forehead. Today the bus driver wouldn't open the door for me so I banged on his door. He played games with me until I begged him to take me to work so I don't lose my apartment for my kids. I was left for dead and I'm building my life up again from a narcissist. I will make you people pay for the treatment that you have given me. I'm the most honest, caring person you will ever meet and I'm done with you demons judging me for being a good person. I will own you people and teach you how to treat people. read more

The bus driver are not trained properly. The trainers are freaking worthless and nobody sees it. They gossip they tell everybody everybody's business and nobody is training us. You want us to be safe drivers well, then find us some safe drivers to train us. There is no training involved in this company read more

I'm sick and tired of the drivers acting stuck up rude mean we all have a job to do we all need to get to work we all have places to go... that's why it's called public transportation! Another thing on Sunday's you have to wait over an hour at a bus stop and sometimes these buses reroute you call into Customer Service you tell then what's going on they get upset, they tell you oh, you have to wait another hour then they hang up on you, you try to call back, they hang up on you! I had to call back until somebody else answer the phone today, March 26, 2023. I've been waiting over an hour right now for a bus that has never showed up. It took a reroute they told me oh it already went by, it did not other people waiting with me. Yes I'm very upset right now so I left at bus stop walk to another bus stop and I'm waiting for a different bus right now to see if this bus will show up for I can get to my destination I need to get to the worst part is is that the max bus which is now called The S bus has not change their service they were supposed to make it better, but actually it's for the worse they merge the buses cut bus services cut. The hours made them shorter, went back to the original Services, so instead of proving the bus services, and making it better they made it worse for everybody, so if I could give this zero stars I would I've been on other bus services and Max or S or start whatever they want to call them selves now is the worst bus services ever and they never have drivers all the drivers are always calling out never show up I never dependable That's another problem. The service has the bus is always late never on time. Can't get to my doctors appointments on time because they're never running on time. read more

After deciding to give up driving a car in the car-centric modesto area - I heard a lot of negative judgments from incredulous people about my being car free and bus dependent. But - I forged ahead anyways. Three months later I can honestly say that I am very impressed with MAX buses. They are clean, run on time and the drivers are no nonsense and kind. Sure there is some funk at the transit station and obnoxious riders on the bus - but that's what headphones are for. Thanks to the hard working MAX staff and bus drivers for making my work commute so painless and inexpensive - and for offering so much of value to this community. read more

The ABSOLUTE worst public bus I've ever used! The bus is NEVER on time and their customer service is ALWAYS rude. START bus is much better but their routes are more limited. Only reason why I still give MAX bus my business is because I have no other option. A new bus company needs to come in and win the bid from this poorly run company. Routes 37 and 25 are always late and the busses seem to always smell like marijuana. I would give MAX zero stars if I could. Stay away! read more

I recently used the MAX bus to go round trip to the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station. I had some heavy luggage with me both ways, and the drivers were kind enough to open the storage compartment for me. I neglected to get the name of the driver who picked me up in Modesto, but he was great. He was filling in for someone else, and he was very friendly and helped me with my luggage. On the return, Kathy (the driver) was fun and friendly - I was the only passenger on the bus, so we had a nice visit, and again she was very helpful. Both drivers drove safely and were on time or early in each direction. This could not have worked out better and I will definitely use this service if the need arises - can't beat the price! read more

I've been riding the MAX bus for 5+ years. Most of the employees I see on a regular basis are super friendly and helpful with giving directions and answering questions. I love how affordable and convenient it is to get anywhere you want to go in town, there's even a MAX bus that'll take you to the Bart station in Dublin!! Modesto Area Express is awesome!!! read more
