Located on I5 southbound near mile marker 445. If coming off Hwy 99 to I-5 southbound this is the first rest stop to take a break stretch your legs, go to the bathroom or take you fur baby out for a walk. Plenty of parking for vehicles and truckers. Area was very clean, there are a couple of covered picnic tables. Be sure to check out the circular information center a few tiles with information about the area, The vending machines were all not working at this time as they have caution tape across all the machines.

Area is run down places to sit down and rest are closed looks like they are renovating. Cal trans was out cleaning but one of them was arguing with one of the workers.. they do have 2 charging for the car

11/3/21 Had to make an early pit stop to let some of that coffee out of my system. Darn Trenta sized drinks at Starbucks... Quality/Quantity - Not sure when this rest stop was built, but it needs more attention and updates. It was very rough with push button sinks. It needs some major renovations. In my youth, we would NEVER stop at these rest areas; it was always Starbucks or fast food. These rest areas are much easier to go in and out! I save money and I do not end up over-caffeinating or eating excessive amounts of fast food. Of course, after saying all that, I started my trip with a Starbucks Trenta Iced Coffee. Atmosphere - Clean and safe. It could use a little more updating. Maybe touchless sinks and soap dispensers? And paper towels or air dryers. Service - N/A, self service. Price - FREE!!!!!! Owner Suggestion - Our tax $ at work but need to invest a little more at this location, thank you.

Me and my family made a stop here recently at the Southbound Westley Rest Area. The restrooms were decent. There were nice scenic views here. I liked seeing informational displays here on the local wildlife.

"Lots of running and jumping and sniffing around!" Typical rest stop. Honestly, nothing special about this rest stop. The restrooms were fine with the usual state'supplied type of fixtures. Rather annoying to have to hit a metal button to get the water to flow. But at least you do get real water. Sigh. At least they had a quick blowing hand drying machine. Perhaps the only really distinctive thing about this rest stop is that there is an exhibit in the rear which had some historical information. Mildly interesting, but nothing special. As with many rest stops, there is a large pet exercise area. Many of the visitors were walking their dogs in this area. They seem to be having a good time, running and jumping and sniffing around. (The pets, I mean, not the owners. I did not see any people actually jumping and sniffing.) Reasonably well maintained. At least, I didn't see any overflowing trash cans like I have at some of the other rest stops. So all in all a decent place to stop. If you have dogs, they will love to jump and sniff. Even if you don't have dogs, you can try jumping a little bit yourself.

    Dirty and broken restrooms

The restrooms were dirty and broken this the women's restroom I would try to skip this rest area if possible

Inspires Me To Finish That Coffee-Table Book On Urinals I've Been Kicking Around SITREP Beautiful, Wild, Natural Tundra - Everything You Want In A Rest Area. Srsly. When I die, spread my ashes here. Great rest stop area with lots of amenities. THE SETUP One of the nicest touches at this stop is the informational kiosks that are around that discuss the local animal life & ecology of this area: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/westley-rest-area-westley#VVUtM621C_RXbvasERcbNw And apparently there is a local San Joaquin Kit Fox - it would be kinda cool to see this creature: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/westley-rest-area-westley#aHmOZkdbSjHy2LzeyKTksQ AMENITIES The bathrooms are clean, with sturdy lookin little urinals. I mean, look at these guys - they look like mean little rugby players: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/westley-rest-area-westley#V0cpb0KS2S4pX_xo7uVsnw And that actually brings me to an interesting point here: in all the stops I've made, I don't think I've seen identical urinals from stop to stop. They all seem to be different. NOT as strange as the ones in Utah that look like vaginas, mind you: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/kanarraville-rest-stop-st-george#TmeLXTMQ89sKPhvaX67ERQ But even some in California give me the heeby-jeevies, like these ones in Buttonwillow: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/buttonwillow-i-5-rest-area-buttonwillow#QFQXoAfW5drQ3rehDUysTQ Anyways, this stop had everything you'd one: vending, lots of picnic tables, room to roam & hike event, and you gotta love those vistas views of the landscape of utter desolation (like out of a Mad Max film). ;) THE LOWDOWN So I may soon pursue my dream some day of doing that coffee-table book on urinals. :D

I found this rest stop to be visually relaxing and does what it is intended to do. Maintenance workers were on duty when we arrived to use the facilities, which made it feel safe. This is one of the first rest areas my boyfriend and I stopped at on I-5 heading to southern Ca. There was plenty of parking spaces for all vehicles from cars to trucks. Nice lawn areas with shade trees for humans and dogs to walk around on. Lots of picnic tables were available either under covered shelters or out in the open. There was even a separate small building with vending machines. I can only speak about the women's rest room. While I noticed that about half of the other reviewers spoke about how dirty it was, it appeared clean on the morning I used it. I did have some annoyances though.... There were 2 sinks, but only 1 was working. There were 3 stalls on one side of the room, but 2 of the stall doors wouldn't latch. There's nothing more irritating than having to hold the stall door closed while trying to squat over a toilet. The toilet paper was one ply, but seemed even thinner than 1 ply! I had to grab a larger than normal amount of TP just to get the job done! The toilets have automatic flush systems, which is nice, but mine didn't cooperate, so I still had to manually press the button. These are the pros and cons of this rest area. At least it's there when you need it! And I think the pros outweigh the cons.

After a few hours I figured his shift was over and maybe I can speak with a different manager on duty which there was a lady named Heather who claimed to be the manager and her herself actually did call the help desk but because the help desk said that the weight would be longer than usual due to high call volumes she said she could not wait around for them to pick up so then I asked if it did not matter to her that I was a customer and needed his transaction to be completed she pretty much told me there was nothing she could do because she was not going to wait around that she had a whole store that she had to manage so I told her okay I guess I have no other option then to call corporate her reply was do you have their number because I don't and I responded with I'm pretty sure it won't take me too long to find it online and she said okay do what you have to do in the meantime I stepped outside and went about to make that phone call while she was inside she spent the whole time on the phone looking out the window as to what I was doing probably calling Ruben to inform him that I again had returned to ask her to help me out and probably that I threatened to call corporate the time that she spent looking at what I was doing she could have really been on hold with the pilot help desk to make the transaction go through but she was more worried about taking care of her store which she did not leave the desk after I left the desk to do what she said she had to do ultimately corporate told me they cannot force them to do anything but they were just put it down in the books and make sure that they received proper training for those transactions in the future. I believe they need more training in overall customer service and learning how to keep learning and not believe that they already know everything and there is nothing a customer can show them that they don't already know very disappointed in both managers because they are just passing that on to their employees who will probably follow their procedures on handling situations like this. I left with nothing resolved
