It's been years since I've done a wax! I'm usually able to maintain myself fairly well "down there" but, currently 8 months pregnant, I can barely catch my breath when I bend over. I was recommended to try out LG Wax which turned out to be the most convenient location for me anyways! As soon as I went in for my appointment, I was greeted by the owner, Monina, who was so sweet and welcoming. She was very knowledgeable and honest with all of their services. I was a little worried that the process could be more painful since I'm pregnant but oh my goodness, it took less than 20 mins and I would say the pain level was like a "3-4 out of 10". Monina was a life saver. The best thing about Monina is that she listens to her customer! I'm sure I was far from her most demanding client but I gave her these parameters; off my neck, the higher the better, don't use a lot of extensions and I didn't want it to feel heavy. I loved what she did with my hair. She saved my life because the first person I went to was terrible! I didn't like the set up and it bothered me. They wanted me to sign a contract before they even touched me. A non-refundable contract. The makeup person was good but she needed 1.5 hours to do my makeup. I think initially Monina was not available that day so we initially went with these other people. I wish I could have had Monina do my makeup too. I would describe as: Professional. Clean. Comfortable. THE hard wax spot. I have to say as someone who was committed to shaving for 10+ years, I am absolutely in love with hard waxing after going to LG Waxing. I am very picky when it comes to choosing where and by whom I get my nails/hair/grooming done by. I chose to stick with LG Waxing and Limor after trying out 4 other places. Limor is extremely professional, very knowledgable about waxing, and overall an amazing person. She uses a specific hard wax that leaves your skin clean, smooth, and glowing. My hair growth used to be thick, prickly, and weekly when shaving and now it grows back thinner, softer, and takes over 6-7 weeks for full growth. This of course has happened after waxing regularly for well over 1.5 years. So don't expect it to happen the first time! Appointments fill up fast so try to book a week in advance. Her prices are on the higher end (for example: $45 for full arms & $78 for full legs) but if you want a good wax and are thinking long term I would highly recommend her! read more

After a couple of visits, I can say that I'm happy that I decided to go with LG waxing. The waxing room is located inside of Avalon Salon. It is sanitary and the decor doesn't make you feel like you are in a clinical setting. Limor is very thorough in explaining what she is doing, yet she keeps you focused on other things to take your mind off of the anticipation of pain (I'm a big baby when it comes to pain!). To my surprise, my experience was great-- simple, fast, and not as bad as I was expecting! It was more on the painless side than painful, but of course with any waxing there is that initial sting, it only last for a few seconds, however. I've heard of wax jobs that have gone wrong: bruising, tearing, burning, etc. I am feeling pretty confident that I won't be running into that at LG Waxing as Limor is awesome at what she does. She is very accommodating too! I was able to secure a same day appointment on my first visit. And also changed my appointment dates with no problems. Of course that's if her schedule allows it. Contemplated on writing this review for quite some time because I like to keep these aspects private but Limor deserves to be recognized! I've been seeing Limor for over a year now & I completely recommend her. She's the best professional I've seen & I've seen many before finally finding this gem! I wanted a place close to work so I could just conveniently run in & out. Now I have to make the trek from home but I would gladly do so because once you've found the right person, you stick to them! Just like a hairstylist! She's located in Avalon Salon -- everyone there is very friendly. You can help yourself to a beverage while you wait but I've never waited more than 5 mins, most of the time she greets me as soon as my bum hits the couch. She uses blue wax.. it's heated in a container and she uses sticks to scoop it out onto your skin. Don't worry, it's super clean, never double dipped!!! I've had my fair share of waxes and I can say hers are the least painful. It helps that she applies pressure right after removing the hardened wax. Limor is also super sweet & funny. She keeps the conversations flowing so I don't zone in on feeling any pain (even though there's not much). Appointments are very organized. You can make them online or call. Once you've got an appt, you'll get an e-mail confirmation & you'll receive a reminder before your appt as well! The best tip I can give you is to buy her packages!!! So I went back to Limor after trying out a couple of other places in the area, and I think I'm staying for good. She provides the most painless wax experience, in my opinion. And maybe also the fastest. I remember telling her about the couple of other places I had tried, and she wasn't at all like "Oh well see, that's why you should have never left." (I've definitely gone to people who have said that...lol, and then proceeded to bash the methods that other places use). But Limor was just like "Well, at least you can say you gave it a try." Before she started waxing, she told me that she had read my Yelp review and wanted to address the pricing misunderstanding that I had mentioned in my review. She explained that the "first timer" price is for all new customers because she takes extra time to understand the growth/thickness of your hair. And the sensitivity of your skin to the wax. Stuff like that. And I really appreciated her taking the time to read my review and address my concerns right away. She really cares about her clients! Even though this was my second time here, Limor was still very thorough in explaining each step of the process (which sections would hurt more, etc.). But honestly, the way she does it, even the most painful section is only like half the pain you would endure at other places. read more

I came here with a Living Social voucher. The place is clean and nice. You are offered water and coffee in the waiting room. When I met Limor, I thought she was very professional and congenial. She seemed very knowledgeable about waxing, asking me some questions about my previous experience and giving me advice. This comforted me before my waxing experience started. She made me feel like I was in good hands. Then, she applied the wax. The wax was very hot and burned my skin. I reacted to that by twitching a bit. She asked, "Are you ticklish?" I said, "No, the wax is just very hot." I was hoping she would do something about that, such as waiting for the wax to cool a bit before applying more, but she just continued applying hot wax on me, saying, "It should cool in a minute or two." I felt very uncomfortable, my skin burning with each application of wax. Then, she waxed. It was very, very painful, and she pressed her hand firmly on my skin to relieve the pain. She waxed large sections, which made me think it was the reason it hurted so much. I don't think my previous experiences hurted as much. As time passed and I endured the pain, I realized she's a bit slow. I'm glad she took her time but I wanted the painful experience to end already. It kept dragging on. She made small talk, asking what I was doing for the weekend. That's all I remember she asked during my waxing experience. I guess it's better than nothing, but my previous waxers were better at distracting me, keeping me engaged in conversation and making me laugh. When my experience was finally over, she suggested I schedule another appointment before I forget. I was getting dressed. After I got dressed, she asked me again. I ended up telling her I'll think about it. A couple of days later, I checked the area she waxed to see how it was doing. I was breaking out! I've never broke out before from my previous waxes. I think it was her technique of waxing large portions that caused that. Also, she pulled the wax off in weird directions. Large portions and weird directions is her style of waxing.
