Will not return and strongly do not recommend going here. I got a Brazilian and she went so hard and fast that I have bruising on me. (This can be normal but I haven't had before). Usually they go fast and hard like that but hers was another level. I guess I irritated her because i was sweating and flinching. She made a rude comment to me "girl you're wearing a sweater and it's hot out". No aftercare instructions were given. Extremely unprofessional, and rude. I booked with Hoda for a Brazilian wax as a first time client and these are my takeaways: Positives: + Booking an appointment/communication with Hoda is done through texting which makes it very convenient. + prices are very reasonable. (Brazilian is $50 the first time, then $40 each time for maintenance) + accepts many forms of payment (cash, venmo, card) + she's FAST, I was out of there in under 10 minutes for a Brazilian. + painless procedure. This might be subjective since I've been doing Brazilians for a very long time. + easy to find, plenty of parking Negatives: - She's cold but not in a hostile or intentional way. She's just terse and doesn't say much. As a first time client, it didn't feel very welcoming going in there. It was very much like "oh you're here, drop the pants." Since I was getting a Brazilian, I would've liked to have some interaction first since this was my first time meeting her. Maybe she could've asked if I've gotten a Brazilian before or asked if there was anything she should be aware of (medical, etc) before starting. - Not thorough. After leaving the salon and going back home, I noticed some hairs that were missed. She doesn't seem to do any plucking or extractions either. - no communication during appointment. Since I'm new to Honey Wax, I don't know what what her process looks like. I would've liked it if she explained what she was doing. Obviously I know what to expect for the waxing portion, but she wiped me down after the wax and didn't say anything about what that was. I assume it's just something to remove any wax residue off, but it would be nice if she told me. She never once asked how I was doing or if the wax temperature was okay. - lack of care/not gentle-- during the wax, she doesn't soothe your skin after ripping the wax off. This might be very painful if it's your first time. An experienced waxer will press down on the skin, or lightly tap on the affected area immediately after to minimize the pain. She also doesn't use any oils, creams or sprays afterwards to protect the area. Overall, I think it's still worth going because of the price. ($40 for maintenance) To put it in perspective, I used to pay $40 for a Brazilian 5 years ago so it's amazing that she's able to price it this way with inflation and all. If you're someone that needs more time to get to know your waxer or it's your first time, I would not recommend Hoda. If you have a lot of questions and you're very anxious about getting waxed, I would not recommend her either. Honey Wax is more suitable for people that have very simple requests and are experienced to waxing. Since I just wanted everything gone, there's really nothing I needed to tell her. read more

I have never gotten a bruise from waxing until recently at this place. The whole experience was fast but really painful. The lady also reused the same waxing paper multiple times (and from behind to the front). Not very sanitary in my opinion. The price is on the cheaper end but you get what you pay for. However, she was running a little late to my appointment which I didn't mind much but she double booked me and this other person that I found out in conversation with while we were both waiting. When Hoda arrived, she took the other person first without saying anything to me or apologizing for the inconvenience so I waited a little longer. The wax was not as thorough as I would've liked. I noticed a lot of stray hairs that were missed, I wish she would've double checked or tried plucking some instead. I was looking for an affordable and convenient place to get a bikini wax the week of and decided that $25 at Hoda's Honey Bar would be my pick. Big thanks to yelp for directing me to Honey Bar because now I'm waxed and ready for my trip to Hawaii coming up. I've only gotten a bikini wax one time before in Santa Cruz and had a positive experience at that spa, so I figured this one wouldn't be any different. Both experiences were pretty different in techniques used. I could feel Hoda put the hot wax on then peel off the paper, but she also used it to get any remaining hairs in between. I loved that she also tweezed the stray hairs that weren't wax-able. The previous experience was a bit more smooth in that the aesthetician walked me through what she was going to do and spent a lot of time making me feel welcome, comfortable, and confident when she explaining her 20+ years of beauty experience. I definitely felt confident in Hoda, but we didn't have that trust-and-talk beauty experience I need when I'm exposing my privates. However, Hoda was super easy to reach via cell. Email took a while, so I spoke with her about that and she said that cell is the best way to go about getting an appointment in ASAP. She was able to get me in her studio the day after we texted which I give 5 stars for! She communicates efficiently and quickly, so expect to wait no longer than a few hours. I got my wax done in between jobs near the beginning of the day. Honey Bar is in an indoor "complex/mini mall" of sorts in the JC Salons ownership. There's a grand map at the entrance which you can use to guide you to whatever beauty salon/service you're going to. I first experienced one of these setups when I went to Willow Glen--I think the service providers love having their own small space that is easy to clean and manage. In all, the pain level was very minimum. I'm not a fan of waxing--I mean, I still tweeze my eyebrows and lip hairs from time to time...and I think that's enough. To be fair, I spend way more money on hair and spa, so waxing isn't a big priority for me...especially since I don't have too much body hair to begin with luckily. But Hoda suggested that I try a full Brazilian next time since I was "basically almost there," so we'll see what I decide next time! Hoda's stored on my cell phone!! read more

I would gladly make an appointment just to visit because she is the most sweet, personable, funny and down-to-earth person I've ever met. But I'm ecstatic to say that on top of her having a beautiful soul, she is the absolute BEST at what she does. TRUST ME! There was one rare occasion when Hoda was on vacation, and I went to a different place only because I had a pool party to attend.
