I wanted to keep this place my little secret but I can't!! They're just too good!!! I knew I was going to have to get my dressed hemmed and add on a bustle. What I didn't anticipate was the zipper getting stuck and having to break it off to get out of it (it was my literally my second time putting the dress on) I took it in and asked if they could possibly put in a corset... and they did more than that in my opinion, they completely transformed the dress! It felt perfect, complete!! And don't get me started on the pricing!! I went to modern tailoring to get my wedding dress altered. Though my dress was already perfect there were some tweaks i wanted to make so it would be even better. Everyone there was extremely nice and worked with me every step of the way. From brainstorming at the start what would look best to coming in for multiple fittings to make sure it was perfect ! I know my dress was not easy mostly because of the appliqué but they exceeded my expectations and my dress truly could not have been better ! As for price i believe I was charged accurately especially with the amount of work and time my dress took! It may seem pricey to some but it's amazing quality work and worth every penny. read more

We were very disappointed in their customer service. We dropped off a shirt to have tailored, pre-paid for the work, and were told it would be ready for pickup the next day. The day of pickup they had no power. However, we needed the shirt urgently so when I arrived and saw they were closed I tried calling to see if somebody was still there so I could at least take it to a different tailor but nobody answered. When I picked up the shirt the following day, I told the gentleman that we would have appreciated them at least staying open to allow customers to pick up items and I told him I would have just taken it to a different location if it wasn't done since we were in a bind. He was not understanding or apologetic. He kept talking to me as if I was blaming him for the power outage. The whole thing was a very negative experience and we won't return. read more

I have never experienced such unprofessionalism & horrible customer service. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. I brought in 4 yards of fabric & asked the guy if he can make a "fitted sheet" style cover for a playroom bench pad. He told me no problem, it'll take a week. Ok. My husband picked up the bench pad & I couldn't believe the quality. See the picture of how the elastic is tied in, it literally is frayed & looks like a 5 year old did this job. When I pointed out that it is very tight in one corner causing the pad to pull up, but I'm unable to adjust it due to the elastic being tied like this, he took SUCH offense & said "YOU TELLING ME THIS IS THE WORST JOB?!?" What? I said, sir those words did not come out of my mouth. He then began describing this conversation where he told me anything I want to add to fabric (elastic, zippers, etc) need to be brought in, they don't have them here. This conversation NEVER happened. I asked if fitted sheet style was possible, he said of course I'll do it, & then he said pick up in a week & I left. I would NEVER leave him to do a job where he told me I'm missing pieces to this project & then allow him to make something that I'm paying for, missing whatever needs to get the project done, that doesn't even make sense! Why did you start AND FINISH the project when you don't have what you need?? He was just cutting me off & getting so defensive telling me WHY DONT YOU TELL ME HOW I SHOULD DO IT?! & I said sir, that's not my job. If this was something that couldn't have been achieved & looked nice I just wish that would have been communicated to me? Not to mention the fact that he used the very border of the fabric I brought in, you can see the white edge/border of the fabric...the quality & technique is just so horrible. He basically made me so uncomfortable that I am not leaving anything with him to adjust, (he thinks his work is perfect anyways & wouldnt accept any feedback or adjustment requests ), I didn't dare ask for any kind of refund that surely would've been refused anyways, & now the 4 yards of fabric is wasted. Blown away by this guy, wow. I chose this place because of the awesome reviews. I never complain on Yelp, but have to warn others. Recently came here to get a bridesmaid's dress taken in. The dress I brought in was a chiffon j crew dress with pleating and boning in the bust, right where I needed it taken in. I was super nervous that the adjustments would be obvious or noticeable. The seamstress was very friendly and did an amazing job on the dress! Literally the dress looked PERFECT! The price seemed fair at $30 and after seeing the dress finished it was MORE THAN WORTH IT! I will definitely be back to Modern Tailoring for any other items I need adjusted! ((My only issue is that it felt a bit smaller when it was finished than it had when it was pinned. I can't thank Mary enough for what she did for me and my wedding dress!! I bought my dress in Chicago because I was obsessed with this particular designer and they shipped me the dress after it was completed. Since it was a custom made dress I had asked the designer to add certain things however when I received my dress some of my requests weren't completed properly. I was so scared to bring my dress anywhere to be fixed but Mary reassured me she could do it and she honestly did it to perfection! I requested she added more appliqué to the sleeves so it had a more off the shoulder appearance, she switched the bustle to an American since it was originally French, and she added tulle to the bottom to give it more of a mermaid look rather than a straight look and it was everything I wanted and looked so beautiful! My designer paid for all the alterations but regardless Mary's prices are hard to beat given the work she does! Thanks to Mary I felt beautiful on my special day!! Also, she has done several alternation on my past bridesmaid dresses and my moms mother of the bride dress for mine and my sisters wedding and they all turned out exactly how we wanted them!
