I highly recommend Sylvia! I had previously taken my bridesmaids dresses to her in the past and trusted her with my wedding dress recently. She did an amazing job and did exactly everything I asked. I was very impressed with her suggestion on how to do the bustle and she hid the buttons so cleverly. My dress fits like a glove, it's perfect! She completed it in a very timely manner and the price was the best out of many quotes. read more

Ruined a blouse by cutting the sleeves too short, so now can't be worn as a long sleeve blouse. On a pair of jeans that needed a little tightening in the waist, she tightened them so much I now have to find another tailor to fix this problem! read more

Sylvia was welcoming and friendly. Her turn over time and prices were great. I needed my formal 3-layer dress with a band hemmed and it turned out perfect! I'll be going back to Sylvia's for any other future alterations. read more

I brought in two pairs of jeans and one dress for alterations and spent about $75 total. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the results. For the jeans, instead of being taken in through the back seam (as is standard for jean alterations), fabric was taken in on both sides. The stitching is very obvious, and there is a thick, bulky clump of folded fabric left inside each pair, which looks and feels uncomfortable and unprofessional. This is not how jeans are typically altered, especially at $25 per pair. I ended up having to spend more money and take them to another place that was willing to fix the mistake and alter them correctly. The dress was partially fixed, but an important detail was missed. I specifically asked for the back clasp/snaps at the top of the dress to be sewn back on, and that was completely forgotten. Overall, the workmanship did not match the price, and I felt like I wasted my money. I wouldn't return or recommend this service based on my experience. read more

I 100% recommend this busy for any and all your alteration needs. She is professional, personable and great at what she does.

Sylvia was very nice and my dress was done on time. What I didn't like was her assumption I wanted her to do the work. After tacking the hem and I got out of the dress she says $80.00 and it'll be ready on Thursday. Not once had we discussed the price. I was in a time crunch so I didn't say anything. She said she steamed the dress and when my sister saw the dress, she asked why it was wrinkled. She had to steam it and given the hem alteration cost almost as much as the dress it should've been wrinkle free. I would suggest she invest in some poly bags for her clients and a better steamer. I would use her again because of her work, but would definitely talk about pricing. read more

Sylvia did a flawless job on a pair of athletic pants that needed to be taken up. She kept the stylish zippers on the bottom of the pants, and did a clean hem. Thank you, Sylvia, for the prompt and professional service! read more

I went to Sylvia based off all her good reviews to have my wedding dress altered. She is based out of her garage in her home. I'm currently pregnant with twins (wasn't planned when I originally bought my dress) and so I had to wait pretty close to my wedding date to get altered due to my belly growing fast. I had an appointment with Sylvia on 11/4 where myself and my bestfriend went in to get our dresses measured for alterations. Here is what I asked for- A sweetheart cut - my neckline was straight across My lace sleeves to be shorter and to be taken in as they were too loose. Sylvia mentioned taking it in at the waist - however I didn't need it but wasn't opposed as she was the "professional" . My wedding was 11-16-24 , she said I could pick up my dress on 11-12. My totally would be $300 cash only - there also is no contract. 11-12 comes and my daughter is sick and I couldn't make it to my appointment, so I sent my bestfriend to pickup our dresses. As soon as I received my dress later that night at around 5pm I tried it on and immediately was disappointed with what was done. The neckline was only cinched with. Few pieces of thread and it was crooked, as well as the lace sleeves were FOLDED and sewed, and one was crooked. I immediately called Sylvia and let her know I was not happy with the work at all and asked if there was some type of refund that could be given as I was leaving for my wedding on Friday and had no time to get my dress fixed. I felt like the $300 that I did pay did not align with the quality of work I received. She called me the next day and left me a voicemail that said "you didn't have anyone to take care of your baby, we had an appointment and you didn't show up" as if my appointment would have changed the outcome of her work or that would even have time to fix my dress. I had text her after receiving the voicemail and our texts are in the photos. She did offer to fix my dress however i had other appointments lined up for my wedding and I was leaving Friday morning and this gave me no time to get my dress fixed as this conversations transpired on Wednesday. In these messages you can see I was willing to pay Sylvia for her time spent on my dress however the $300 I did pay I do not feel like I was given the best quality of work. I wanted Sylvia to work with me in meeting me halfway to make us both happy and she refused and claimed her work was good and her work was done and on time - yes it was done by my pickup time but it was not done correctly. This was bad sloppy work and even worse professionalism on her behalf. I lost $300 and had to wear my wedding dress the way it was. LUCKILY because her work was so cheap I was able to cut the piece of thread that cinched the middle of my neckline to revert it back to the original straight neckline as I liked that better than her work. However the sleeves I could not change and it looked awful in every picture. Beware if you decide to use Sylvia & ask to use card. read more

Sylvia is a sweetheart! I discovered her when the original alteration store I wanted to go to couldn't fit me in (plus their waitlist was a month out, I'm assuming due to prom season approaching) so she saw me last-minute after a quick phone call. She was super welcoming & easy to converse with. She did a hem, made my dress slit higher, & even sewed in bra cups (LIFESAVER! Finding bras for dresses can be such a mission!) all for a very reasonable price (under $200). I was able to pick my dress up after 2 weeks or so. She accepts cash or Zelle. I'd recommend anyone to go to her. Thanks again, Sylvia! read more
