I would give 0 star to this place if I could. First time here and its going to be my LAST time. Although, the doctor was really nice and professional, the receptionist was such a rude and impolite lady. As soon as I walked in, there was no greetings and the lady was giving such an attitude as if she was forced to work there and talk to the patients (customers). This was still ok ( I didn't mind this thinking everyone has rough days) until I saw the doctor and it was time for me to choose a frame. As soon as I chose a frame and gave it to the same front desk lady, she threw the frame on the desk and said 0 words. I had to ask her if they are going to call me or if I have to wait. Basically, all the information she needed to give me, I found myself as if interrogating her. Finally, still trying to be polite, I thanked them and said bye, however, there was still no response. The receptionists here made for a very awkward experience. Despite my responses in English, they insisted on keeping the conversation in Armenian. I don't understand other dialects very well so I was a bit annoyed by this. Whenever I'd respond, they would give me blank stares and act as if they didn't understand what I was saying (even though it was clear by the end that they speak both languages). I thought that this was an obvious foreshadowing of the doctor being just as inconsiderate as them. Receptionists can be a reflection of the doctor at times, right? I'm so glad this wasn't the case this time. Dr. Kamkar was so cool and down to earth. It made the important part (the eye exam) easygoing. He was very knowledgeable with any questions I had as well. I teetered on docking one or two stars for the receptionists, but decided to only take one off. An easy five stars if not for the aforementioned issue. read more

This review goes from good to bad. I liked their selection and I liked that they give you your glasses on the same day as your visit, sometimes within an hour. The receptionist, Rouzan, is also nice. There is also another lady there that helps you pick out your glasses. One of the doctors is nice, the other one (the guy that does the lenses) is really rude. I had been there twice for appointments. I've seen that rude doctor yell at his employees while I'm waiting there to be called in, which is uncomfortable to watch. The first appointment was ok. I had my glasses done within an hour. The downside was that he set the prescription to be the same on both eyes. My right eye is weaker than my left eye and he said that "it wasn't a big difference, it's better to have it set to the same prescription." He also said that if I didn't like it, I could go back and get them changed. I did go back and explained to him that the right eye was slightly blurry and that at night it was more noticeable. He changed the lens free of charge. I then took my dad to get his eyes checked one day. That same doctor (the rude one) did my dads exam and he then followed us to go look at frames. He wasn't giving us time to look at frames and he kept suggesting frames and rushing us. When my dad got his glasses, he said that they felt that they were too strong. He said that it wasn't like that when he took the exam. My dad tried them out for a week and he never ended up using them. That's when I should've stopped going there. I didn't like that he was rushing us and that my dad wasn't happy with his new glasses. But I went back because of their fast service. My second appointment didn't go well at all. He set my prescription the same he did last time, to the prescription for the left eye. I told him again that it was blurry on the right eye and he said the same thing he said the first time. I thought "ok, sure, it won't be that bad. I can always come back and get it fixed." When I got my glasses, sure enough, the difference bothered me. I tried them for a week and I had constant headaches that wouldn't go away. I went back to tell him that it was blurry and that my headaches weren't going away. His response was: "you know, I can't be ruining my lenses just because you say that it's a little bit blurry." F this guy. I walked out. He's not the one having to wear these glasses. If he didn't want me to go back every time, he should've done the job right the first time. I had gotten glasses at other places, and I had no complaints about the prescription. I just didn't want to wait a week to get my glasses. When I found this place, I was happy to get my glasses back on the same day, who wouldn't? But this guy got my Rx wrong TWICE. I never went back. He would've probably done the same thing if I had gone back for another appointment. I wouldn't recommend this place. He'll probably get your prescription wrong, too. Getting your glasses on the same day isn't worth the bad service, wrong prescription, or the headaches. read more

I went there to order lenses for my new eyeglasses, after the exam the doctor prescribed wrong lenses, I could't wear those eyeglasses I returned the lenses, they conducted second exam and corrected the prescription, changed the lenses, THE LENSES WERE OF AWEFUL QUALITY, I PAID 40$ AND COULDN'T WEAR MY EYEGLASSES MORE THEN 2 MINUTES I HAD AN HEADACHE , I am wearing eyeglasses more then 10 years in fact. I wanted to return the lenses but they REFUSED to take it back . I took the lenses to the other optometry and they WERE SHOCKED ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE LENSES. By far the worst service I received. I visited this place today with someone that had to get her eyes checked. As the lady I was with goes in to see him, the two ladies up front were assisting me when the "doctor" decided to rudely interrupt and tell me what is covered under my plan when he doesn't even know me and hasn't even looked at the coverages. I ignore him thinking he may be having a rough day. As I go over to say something to the patient, he rudely demands that I go to the waiting room!!! I told him I wasn't planning on going to the room I just had to say something. After waiting over an hour for a simple checkup, I find out he was extremely rude to the patient as well. I will never step foot in this optometry again. Horrible service!!! Save yourselves the headache and avoid this place at all costs. read more

I took my mother to this unprofessional place for her to get an eye exam and eventually change her eyeglasses. Whoever it was, who performed the eye exam was not properly trained and prescribed wrong lenses (which we didn't know at that time). When after the exam we looked at several frames and couldn't decide which frames to pick, the guy (did not look like a doctor to me) got really fraustrated, realizing that we are not going to get the glasses right away. He made us feel very uncomfortable. I don't think anybody is obliged to get the eyeglasses right after the exam!!! About a month later, we went to another optometry, where my mom liked a frame that suited her face the most. We ordered the lenses based on the prescription given to us from Modern Optometry and guess what, my mom couldn't wear those glasses. The prescription was WRONG!!! My mom end up having the second eye exam and the optometrist was shocked by the difference in prescrptions. Please don't get caught on the modern design of their office and their advertisement of $45 for an eye exam. You rather pay $100 for an eye exam and get correct prescriptions. These people seem to be crooks and I am glad I didn't order my mom's eyeglasses from them. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR EYES DON'T EVER GO TO MODERN OPTOMETRY! read more

I'm going to start off by saying that I have Ben there customer for about 3 years now. Every time I go for a eye exam, the doctor is very obnoxious and raises his voice. He is unprofessional and is always in a hurry. I would not recommend this "eye doctor" to anyone one. He has a very terrible attitude and has major problems. Let me start off by saying I've been their patient for about 5 years now, and these other reviews couldn't be any more accurate . Every single time I've stepped into their office, the Armenian "Doctor" has been so disrespectful. He will raise his voice at you and is the most unprofessional person I've met in the medical field. I can't stand his terrible attitude and personality. He has major anger problems and should take some therapy. Also gives the front desk girls such a hard time, which is very uncomfortable for me to see. This guy gives off such a terrible reputation for Dr. Kamkar, who is in fact a great doctor. He is calm, polite, and will answer all your questions. I'm giving this place 3 stars because I like Dr.kamkar but he really has to get rid of his assistant (glass maker). read more

I went in my first time and the service was amazing. The front desk helped me out with any questions I had and let me look at glasses while waiting. The optometrist spent 2 hours with me and my friend making sure we had the perfect prescription for our glasses. He stayed an hour after closing just to help us and even after all that he asked if we wanted him to get our lenses prepared even after being there an hour after closing. read more

A friend and I walked in without an appointment, we both needed to get our eyes checked. Since we didn't have an appointment we had to wait around 20 minutes. Their selection of eyewear kept us very occupied. They have some amazing deals on certain frames, and a lot to choose from. Everything that's not on special, isn't marked up. The doctor went out of his way, made sure our prescriptions were absolutely perfect, and even stayed an extra hour after close, just to make sure everything was set. After two exams each, medicine, and dealing with our bs, he didn't even charge us for everything he did. I walked in expecting to drop 5-6hundred ended spending half that, getting the greatest service ever, 2 pairs of glasses, and having met a very fun and interesting doctor. I had gone to Modern Optometry for a contact lens exam less than a year ago, and I went back today because I unexpectedly ran out of contact lenses (I usually order them online, but this time I was in a rush). I explained to the receptionist/cashier that I had already been there for an exam, had a valid prescription on file and only wished to buy one box of contacts. Despite this, I was made to wait fifteen minutes because the doctor was with a patient. Finally, after I repeated my simple request, the receptionist went to consult with the doctor. Why it was necessary to consult with him in order to sell me a box of contacts, I do not know. She then informed me that one box of Air Optix would cost $70. Yes, you read that right - $70. For those unfamiliar with the price of these contacts, if you look them up online, you can buy them for anywhere between $17 and $36 per box. I made her repeat the price and walked out. Not only did Modern Optometry waste 15 minutes of my time today, they then attempted to swindle me. I'm not sure who in their right mind would pay $70 for a box of basic contacts that can be bought for an average price of $25 elsewhere. If you can put up with mediocre service, this place may be worth a visit for an exam (because they are cheap), but I would definitely advise anyone against purchasing eyewear here. I know I won't ever be back after the experience I had there today. read more
