Worst nail experience of my entire life. I paid $80 and left in tears because i hate may nails so much. Very disappointed. Nail tech was very rude and unprofessional and lazy. She clearly took no pride in herself and had stains on her sweatshirt and yellow brownish dirt under her finger nails. Personally, if i was a nail tech, may nails would be on point. She refused to do design and rushed the process even though the establishment was empty. When i showed/ explained what i wanted she was nodding along like she knew what i was talking about and could do it. Once i got in the chair she said i could only do one design. Other nail techs were nice and professional, I guess I just got stuck with someone who takes her misery out on clients. Please request a male nail tech, the woman clearly had other places to be like sitting in a pedicure chair and eating chips and scrolling on her phone. I wanted cute, whimsical pokémon nails and instead got easter middleage mom nails. The most stressful experience I have ever had during a pedicure. They are open until 5 my appointment was at 4 I was rushed through the process and done by 4:25. The owner and employees we talking very loud and constant during my entire appointment. Very annoying!! I barely had a leg massage, she hardly got any of the dry skin off of my fee. Don't book appointments if you don't want them. I got half a pedicure at best. I will never go back. I went to this place since they opened 20 plus years ago. I have very brittle nails and the only thing that helps them to not split down the middle and tear is polish. I hate having to do it daily, so I occasionally go for a gel manicure. I know of a great place but it's almost an hour from me. Thought I'd try Modern Nails in Mukwonago. Called ahead and they said they had openings. People were courteous, but only the person who greeted us spoke any English and with my hearing loss I found it very hard to understand him. The other nail techs did not talk ...at least not in English. They just carried on conversations in thier own language which I find to be VERY rude. Everything seemed to be clean. Polish and manicure was subpar. I have polish on most of my fingers around the outside of the nail bed. My one pinky nail isn't even fully polished. I know I have chubby fingers and short nails, but this hasn't been a problem at other salons. I didn't get cuticle oil treatment and was charged $10 extra for a polish choice. Check in person said that I was told it would be $10 more (above and beyond gel price) when I was deciding but it was not stated (daughter was there with me and agreed that nothing was said about more $). Not disputing that they shouldn't charge a bit more because it had an extra step,just stating that they didn't tell me,but claimed they did. I left a generous tip, because that is just what you do. I'm sure the nail techs get paid very little. BUT, I will not be going back to Modern Nail. This is gel polish so it should stay on for at least a week. read more

I generally get a mani/pedi and had been to Modern Nails a few times over the years but did not return due to the quality of the work. However, I decided to give them another try this summer and was pleasantly surprised. They've made some positive changes to staffing and it has definitely improved their quality. Horrible!! I had an appointment at 5:30. Arrived a little early and got into a chair right away, but sat and waited forever. I indicated when I arrived that I had to leave by 6:50 to get my boys from football (an hour and 20 minutes is more than reasonable for a pedi). People that walked in after me were serviced before I was. Understaffed. The gentleman that takes the appointments started on my pedi and clearly didn't know what he was doing. Put warm towels on my legs and left me sitting there for 20+ minutes...I finally took them off as my legs and feet were freezing. At 6:45, I was still sitting there with no polish on my feet and said I needed to leave. The guy told me to "come back tomorrow" and demanded that I pay. Ended up leaving with no polish on my feet. I will never be back. Rude people, horrible customer service and honestly, the place is a dump. Pay a few extra dollars and go to Woodhouse Spa. read more

I have been going to Modern Nails for 25 years. The new owner took over 2 years ago, and the service is terrible. The nail techs are rude they over book and rush you through they do a crappy job on your nails. If you ask them to fix it, they get mad and are rude. read more

I went to get a pedicure Friday August 18,2023 for a wedding on 8-19-23. They got me in for an appointment right away.... A young man did the pedicure... when he cut my large toe nails he cut down on a slant towards my skin then took a tweezers and pulled out, part nail and part skin, from the top of my nail to the bottom!! It hurt so badly.. I think he pulled out a ingrown toenail? The nail and side of my toe was bleeding badly from him ripping out the nail and skin... OMG IT HURT!! To stop the constant bleeding he took a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol and sprayed the wound!!!!wow that was beyond painful!! They charged me $35 cash.. No receipt. I couldn't wear the shoes I had for the wedding.... To painful!! Here it is exactly one week later and my big toe(the one that the man ripped the nail and skin out) is infected puffy and numb!! I called and talked to the manager and he wanted to see the injured toe..... so I went in 8-25-23 he said he couldn't see anything and I must be wearing to tight of shoes!! I told him I wanted my money back... he argued with me and handed me $35 and said "you were never here and started screaming...GET OUT.... GET OUT!! I told don't worry I will never come back here again!! Then I said wait...Yelp! When I went to grab a business card.. the manager ripped the cards out of my hand yelling...GET OUT!! read more

I hate my last experience! I absolutely hate my nails that I just spent $50 on!!!! walked out so pissed off. When I walked in I showed the lady that was doing my nails, the chunky glitter on my PREVIOUS nails, and I said that I want this chunky glitter on all of my nails. Every time I get my nails done I get chunky glitter on top! When she was almost done, I reminded her that I wanted the chunky glitter on my nails and when she was done, she said, how do you like it? And I said what about the chunky glitter? I LITERALLY TOLD HER TWICE! She obviously didn't understand what I was saying the entire time!!!! And when her and some other guy there were having a conversation that I didn't understand because it was in a different language, he told me it was too late to add the glitter! Whhhhhhat? Omg, are you kidding me? I literally hate my nails!!!!! So not what I wanted! I would have gotten them redone done the next day, obviously somewhere else! but I can't afford another $50 right now. Buyer beware! If she didn't understand, she should have asked someone. I am so disappointed ok, maybe buy my own chunky glitter for a one time use cause this has never happened to me before. But the cheapest I've found it is for 12.99. That comes out to a 63.00 dip, I'm broke af to begin with and I will never need to use it again because I've never had a problem like this before, Ever! Not the absolute worst experience, but a close second and I've been getting my nails done for over 10 years. I hate my nails. Very Expensive and so not worth the money!! I live in Chicago, but on occasion have to go visit one of our Mills in Wisconsin. During my lunch break I thought I would stop by and get my nails and toes done. $42 later (without tip) I walked out and the job they did WAS NOT GREAT and defiantly not worth $42. I live in Chicago and you would think that Chicago would be more expensive....OH NO! Also when I asked them to cut my toe nails down ( I like them short) she told me "No" they were already short. I told her l like them short it is fine...cut them down. Again she said "No" but that she would file them down for me. So not only did the service/job suck they charged me more than I have ever been charged before for a bad job! I do NOT recommend this place and won't be stopping there again. read more

I hate leaving bad reviews... but they drilled down my natural nails to do a shellac manicure. They're already chipping the next day. I recommend paying $10 more and going somewhere else. Hygiene is questionable. You don't get a full manicure like you do other places. Sorry, but I'm going to say no. Edit the next day: my nails are already chipping. This place is awful. When I called I told them I just wanted a polish then when I was there I told the manicurist JUST A POLISH!!! twice. I couldn't understand a word she said plus she wore a mask. She did some mumbling and pointing and I just sat there and nodded. I had no idea she put gel on my nails or I would have said something. This is only the 3rd time I've had my nails done. Funny thing when it came to paying I could understand her clearly. I don't trust that place at all. When I was on the phone making the appointment and told the guy just a polish he was trying to talk me into the gel and I said no! He told me I could change my mind when I came in. Terrible!!! Two days before my wedding I go to get my nails done, after having an appointment for over a week. The guy (Jackie) that was supposed to do my nails just didn't show up! The mother was there and offered to do, but last time she did my nails, she cut 7 out of my 10 fingers! I don't think so. Despite everyone else, i like this place. I go in to get my acrylic nails put on, or filled, and get a gel manicure and they always look so nice! The man who does them is nice, we have conversations while he does my nails. My gel nail polish starts chipping after about a week an a half, only because i do a lot of work with my hands.
