I had another company out first who felt like used car salesman and had very poor implementation ideas and were considerably more expensive, for not as good a system. I've never met anyone from this company, nor have I used them for anything BUT I did schedule an estimate a few weeks in advance with Ryan. Since this home is a second home I made sure to be there for my scheduled appointment time and date. Ryan was a no show, no call, no apology. I called the business twice to find out why and got a voicemail. I left one message with my name and phone number. Still no response. Very poor customer service. Thank you Modern Misting for wasting my 2.5 hour drive to be at the home for your appointment and $4.50/gal gas to get there. read more

We are happy with the misting system that Ryan's crew installed in our backyard. We had a very small window of time in which to install it and they delivered on time. The only reason for the 4 stars was that he never originally suggested that we check with an electrician to see if we have enough power to run the pool pumps and misters simultaneously. My husband thought of that. So we had to scramble to get more power installed before Modern Misters came. Modern Misting installed my misting system about six years ago, and I have paid them every year since the installation to change the oil, and service the pump at the beginning of each season. For the past six months, I have left dozens of messages on their answering machine, (because no one ever answers the phone) requesting that someone call me back to schedule my maintenance service. Modern Misting Systems got a 5-star review when I met with Ryan. He was courteous and professional and even helped to paint the water lines to match my house. Subsequently, I needed some service to make sure all the nozzles and foggers were operational after. I spoke to Kim and told her I would like to add a few foggers, but since the foggers provide five times the misting as the regular nozzles, I would not know how many I would need unless someone comes out and give me some professional opinion. Kim told me they would not do that. In order to get a service call, I would need to place an order for foggers. I told Kim that I would not know how many I would need and "mandatory" order was not what I was told when I first spoke to another person. Kim said to me "I am the owner and this is the policy." Misting systems are not proprietary. Even though Ryan was amazing when he came out for the design, my experience dealing with Kim left me with a sour taste and I will be seeking future maintenance from somewhere else. read more

However, Ryan heard my concerns and told us what he would recommend. His bottom line was really to make us happy and not to up sell us something that we didn't need. He actually came out at the installation and adjusted it perfectly. I was afraid I would get too much mist sitting at our table but it is PERFECT!!! I had a misting system installed in 2020 by Modern Misting Systems. Right from the beginning there were issues with the install. They came out to price the system and came up with a ridiculous length for the stainless piping. I was there and knew that they had not even measured. So once I pointed out that their estimate was based on wrong information my price had to be adjusted by $500. So at least I prevented overpaying by that amount. The installer arrived and started instantly complaining that he hadn't been told that part of the water line needed to run under a concrete sidewalk. Every time something took a bit of work he started cursing, using foul language right in front of me. I had told the person doing the estimate that the electrical outlet they intended to use wasn't working and he said they could fix it. Turns out that the installer couldn't handle that project so right up to today this is plugged into another outlet over twenty feet from the pump with an electrical cord running across my sidewalk (tripping hazard). The plumbing was another disaster. The installer tied the pipe into an existing water source, but didn't take the time to correctly install the pipe below ground, so now there are exposed PVC pipes running along the side of my house. I gave up expecting a nice, neat install and will be cutting those pipes and correcting the placement myself. Now, today, I had them out to solve a problem with the pump. The cabinet that holds the pump started leaking water recently so I called to get this repaired. They scheduled a window between 8-10am for a repair. I got up at 7am, had my phone with me all morning because I have a large house and can't always hear either of the two doorbells, one outside the main gate, one at the front door. Never heard a thing from them. I called just past 10am and spoke with Kimberly. The same Kimberly who was happy to take my money just a few short months ago. After some checking she told me that the tech showed up, but nobody answered the door bell so they just came into the property unescorted. They entered the area with my mister system by opening two gates and walking thru my dog run. Now, my dogs are pretty friendly, but as a Real Estate Broker I am appalled that Kimberly thought that entering my property unescorted, thru my dog run, was perfectly acceptable. When I asked her why the tech didn't call my cell to let me know he had arrived she told me that they are really busy and he just hasn't got the time to make a call before entering properties. So after her rude response I checked to see what was done to my mister system. There is now a new gauge and a relief valve has been added, although I am questioning why that hadn't been put on my pump when it was installed? It just doesn't make sense. For the price of the system these people seem to be distracted, unorganized, and sloppy. Sorry, Kimberly, I just don't expect to hear excuses for this bad behavior. Public beware! I will never recommend them again. Just a quick update: I had a call from the sherrif's office today after Kimberly told them that I was threatening her. It seems that when I told her that she was going to *hear from me on Yelp* she construed that to be a threat of phyisical harm. The Deputy and I had a laugh over that and he agreed with me that Modern Misting Systems was taking a big chance by allowing their employees to enter a property unaccompanied. What if my dogs had bit the employee? It is an obvious liability for both the business and the homeowner. So just beware, if you don't agree with this girl she isn't going to hear your concerns, she is going to call the police. I did notice that the only other bad review was also naming Kimberly as the culprit. Too bad it is so hard to get customer service training for an owner. read more

Rick was very prompt in answering our concerns and questions about system design and usage. Kimberly answered my email and returned my calls promptly and gave us wonderful customer service. We bought a misting system from Arctic Fog in August of 2011. The first pump they sold us stopped pumping after nine (9) days. When we contacted them regarding the defective pump they claimed it wasn't the pump but the nozzles they sent had too large an orifice. when i pointed out that it worked just fine with the "too large" nozzles for nine days, they still said i needed to try smaller nozzles. They sent them out and i replaced them and the pump was still putting out too low a pressure. They finally sent out a replacement pump and that one died after 10 days. Then when we asked for another replacement they said they were OUT of the housing and it would be a few weeks before they got any new ones. A month went by and we never heard from them. We called and they then claimed they told us they said it would be February before they had the parts needed. February came and went, no calls from Arctic Fog and NO REPLACEMENT PUMP. We called again the first week of March and they said they would ship out a replacement pump in two weeks... well, that's come and gone too and still no replacement pump. We called again today and now they no longer carry the defective pump and we had to pay an extra $300 for the 'better pump'. Why they didn't sell us the 'better pump' in the first place is beyond me and why we had to wait FIVE MONTHS for a replacement is beyond my understanding as well. You can find misting systems from other REPUTABLE dealers... these guys are crooked and they are liars. BUYER BEWARE. read more

I had called Modern Mist for an estimate based on all the solid reviews. I'm so glad we did! The owner Ryan showed up right on time, was very knowledgeable and took the time to answer any questions we had. Modern mist had great prices. We were having a large party at the house and needed the misters installed within a week. Especially since it was going to be outside and the weather was in the low 100's. They were able to accommodate our request and completed the project in our timeframe. James showed up with Ryan in the morning and went over all the details before the installation took place so there was no miscommunication. I have to say James was one of the most hard working individuals I have seen! It was around 103 f outside and he worked non stop all day. Ryan was on another job for the day but managed to come back and install the pump in the afternoon and even worked after hours. Incredible team! Attention to detail was second to none. Clearly they are perfectionist and put a great deal of pride in their work. Everything worked perfectly and they made sure the system was to our satisfaction. We wanted a couple nozzles angled the next day and even though they were on another job they found time to come by and fulfill our request. Customer service at it best!
