Dr. Hobbs is incredible! I've never had a physician take the care that he took to answer my questions and to explain what was happening during my daughters eye exams. Beyond him being knowledgeable and thorough, Dr. Hobbs was eager to help me understand and provide education. This has been one headache after another! They have so obviously been completely adamant about getting everyone in our family into the most expensive & unnecessary contacts possible even to the detriment of my husband & daughter. They have expressed over & over how uncomfortable & less effective these extremely expensive contacts are but the Dr Reece refused to listen. My husband did finally get through to Dr Reece in person after months of "trying" them & proving to him that he preferred the others. However Dr Reece then refused to give him the written prescription for what they decided on when we decided to purchase elsewhere. My husband & daughter both took weeks, multiple calls, & multiple in person visits to get their prescriptions from the office & when my husband finally got his it was for the contacts that he had actually fought so hard to avoid. Therefore he had to go back two more times to get the correct prescription. Due to frequent insurance changes we have been to many different eye doctors. They have both been in contacts since childhood. We have never had any issues like this! They have always had success in contacts with no complications at all. There was no reason for any of this. Obviously patient care & quality eye care are not the priority here!! read more

Avoid this eye care center. I went in in February for an eye exam never having worn glasses on a regular basis before and they put me in trifocal progressives. Charged me almost $1000. They made me sick to wear. They redid them again now as a bifocal. These were worse. They would not run my visit through my insurance. Four months into it I still didn't have glasses. I asked them to just refund me the amount of the lenses and I'll go somewhere else that can do it right and they refused. Every time they had to redo my glasses to get it right they charged me $95 for their problem. The doctor was clueless. I have melanoma, and he said because it wasn't on my face I don't have to have concern about having my eyes checked. Spoke to my dermatologist and she said he couldn't be more wrong. Please, if you're thinking of going here and you want to get your glasses right in a decent amount of time I would suggest going elsewhere read more

I chose this office for convenience. That was my first mistake. I spent over $1500 on new glasses and frames and ended up with glasses that I can't even see clearly out of. When I first ordered them they came back without being progressives when my last pair clearly were and my exam showed that! So they sent them back. When they came back I had trouble seeing out of them as if they were the wrong prescription. So I sent them back again! Still no good. A THIRD time I sent them back. They came back and now they're even worse! How can you not get my prescription right 3 times??! Especially when I paid over $1500?? How I wish I could return these. Now I have to go elsewhere and start over. I've given up on this office. Now I'm stuck with glasses I can't even wear. All they kept saying was "give the glasses a few days to get used to them". They are clearly wrong. Please don't waste your time here. read more

I went here for the first time last year and they gave me a hard time about my contact prescription and pressured me to try daily contacts which I had to decline multiple times. This year I just went there and didn't get contacts but lenses for my glasses. When they switched the lenses I immediately alerted them my left side was fuzzy and I should drive home. They stated that my eyes could be tired and to give it a few days. There was no solution they offered me and it made no sense that my eyes were fine before I got there. I now have to call them to explain if my left side is still fuzzy. I am not going back there next year and do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Being to new to the area I went to modern eye care a few months ago for new reading glasses. When I put them on they made me dizzy. I went back to have my glasses readjusted to work for me, I felt like they didn't have the time for me. They never adjusted them for me and they told me I had to get used to them which I never did. so I've got glasses I cannot wear right now. Not very impressed. read more

My experience at Modern Eye was incredible. The staff was so friendly and went out of their way to assist me. They helped me understand my insurance benefits because it was confusing to me. I LOVE my glasses that I purchased from them. The frame selection was great and I enjoyed trying on the different styles. They even had a camera that took video clips of the frames I liked so I could see on the computer how they looked on me and it helped me narrow down my selection. The doctor was friendly and knowledgeable. He explained everything in a way that I could understand. It was obvious that he really cared about my eye health and vision. Modern Eye, you guys ROCK! Here is what I experienced yesterday: Of course, Dr. Corte was awesome. That goes without saying. Jordan does SUCH a great job! She didn't rush me, was extremely professional--and honest. I LOVE that in a sales person! I enjoyed meeting Dana--she seems sweet. She probably thinks I'm crazy, though. I couldn't decide which frames to get and I asked a thousand questions. Whitney checked me in at reception, did my optomap and worked me up in the exam room. She did an EXELLENT job explaining what she was doing and why. She was quick yet didn't rush me--very efficient with her time (and mine, which I seriously appreciated). She was friendly yet professional. AND--she mentioned the co-pay for the optomap so I wasn't caught off guard. My wait time was so minimal, I didn't even get a chance to open my book! So kudos to all of you on a good schedule system. read more

So I came here to get glasses. Upon arriving they took my insurance information and took the time to explain everything to me. They also offered me an assortment of beverages which was nice. The customer service was impeccable. The exam went great, this place has the latest technology to ensure that my eyes are fully examined accurately. I would highly recommend this business to anyone. I called to make an appointment for an eye exam. After talking to Sarah on the phone for about 10 min. I decided to look for another place because she insisted we had to give them our medical insurance card, even though my eye insurance pays 100% for eye exams. (& in the past it accidentally got filed by medical vs. eye insurance and it took me over 1 1/2 yrs. to clear this mess up). Additionally, there where a couple of other areas of concern Sarah had created. I politely tried to end the call. Sarah closed with, "Well thank you for wasting my time," & she hung up on me. I immediately called her back & asked to speak to the office manager. Sarah said, "There's not one here, she's out on maternity leave." I then asked to speak to one of their doctors. Sarah replied, "They don't talk to patients." So I asked if there was anyone else I could talk to, & she told me no. Needless to say, being extremely upset, I found they had another location in Salisbury. I call & did talk to their office coordinator, Jessica. She was very polite & nice & was equally appalled at Sarah's response & said she would report it & their phone conversations are recorded & I would probably hear back from their doctors. I have not yet heard a word, but do hope they get rid of Sarah who is the rudest secretary I have ever encountered. It's sad, because I'm sure this office has no idea how one person, Sarah, can run off their business. read more

My daughter was complaining that it was hard for her to see, shes going into 4th grade and is very aware of how she looks and what she wears etc. She was worried about needing glasses and thinking her friends would make fun of her. Not only was the doctor, Dr Reece, amazing with her, explaining everything he was doing and how her eye worked in a way she could understand, the optical staff also helped her find a pair of glasses that made her feel pretty and ones that she thought were "great accessories" for her outfits! She is ready to walk into 4th grade able to see and to show off her glasses to everyone! read more

A year ago, I was under the impression I was being well taken care of through this office. However, after learning the office did not do their due diligence by informing me of a warranty and full disclosure on purchasing contact lenses every 90 days, I will come back to this office. read more

everyone was extremely nice ...dr reece was very good he explained everything completely and took the time to answer any questions.... the only thing i can say bad about the visit was the chairs in the waiting room were not comfortable at all...but since all the glasses are right there you can pick out your glasses before you see the dr if you need them read more

Modern Eye Care maintains multiple policies designed to force patients to purchase their contacts and frames from their office. Following a yearly exam, the office placed the $175 allowance provided by my insurance on hold. When I attempted to purchase contacts from an online retailer, I was notified of Modern Eye Care's hold and had to contact them to request that their hold be removed. This was unethical behavior in that Modern Eye Care had no right to place my funds on hold as I never indicated any intention in purchasing contact lenses or frames from their office. Following the next year's exam, I again placed an order with an online retailer to purchase contact lenses following my yearly exam. The online retailer notified me that Modern Eye Care did not approve the prescription provided in my online order. This required a follow-up with Modern Eye Care in which I was advised that the brand of contacts in my prescription on file at their office was not the same as the brand that I was ordering online. If the office staff had completed even the slightest amount of due diligence or research, they would have determined that the brand that I was ordering was the exact lens brand that I was currently wearing and matched to my previous year's prescription. Modern Eye Care had made the decision, without my direction or approval, to update my prescription on file to a contact lens brand that they had provided me a trial version of, although I never notified them that I wanted to switch to the new brand. The office staff updated my prescription once I pointed this out and I had to contact the online retailer to re-submit the prescription to Modern Eye Care for the approval. I also visited the office to obtain a hard copy of my prescriptions so I could ensure that the prescription was approved for the online retailer, as it was clear that the office couldn't be trusted in ensuring a smooth process for me in moving my online order forward. Additionally, I was provided with a copy of my frames prescription, however, Modern Eye Care refused to assit me with providing my PD measurement, which is required when placing a frames order with any frames company. Modern Eye Care indicated that their policy is to only provide this value if the patient is placing the order with their office as they are not REQUIRED by law to provide it with the hard copy prescription. By not providing the PD value, patients are forced to order glasses through their office to ensure accurate measurements with their new frames. Although Modern Eye Care maintains that these policies are to ensure the upmost interest in the patient's well-being, that is simply not the case, as demonstrated by their policies and practices. The office's priorities are clear to any patient that enters their lobby as there is a board behind the main desk that tracks metrics of the number of contact orders the office processes each month. It is clear from the past few month's metrics that contact orders and patient exams are trending downward, which likely explains the office staff and doctor's high priority and push in having patients purchase all of their eye care needs directly from Modern Eye Care. In response to my multiple negative experiences, I have obtained copies of my medical records (had to make two trips to get my full patient record) and I will be in the market for a new eye care professional. I do not recommend this office for any patients that value free market choice in deciding where to purchase their contact lens and frames. read more
