I had a crazy accident that caused my right eye to actually burst open and fill with blood. We thought I had lost that eye forever. We bypassed the ER and went straight to CEC where the entire staff jumped into action. Dr. Harper, my regular ophthalmologist called Dr. Lark in immediately. They consulted with Dr. Baer, who was out of town, on the phone and they included my wife and me in their discussion. My wife, a nurse, was so impressed by the level of collaboration we saw there. That, in itself, was a confidence builder. Just less than 2 hours from the time of the accident, Dr. Lark had me in surgery putting my eye back together. Along the way, I needed a vitrectomy and a lens implant-- 4 surgeries in all. We are so fortunate to have so many highly trained surgeons- each contributing his/her own area of expertise-right here in Concord . And their assistants and front office are the best. My doctors went the extra mile for me. They gave me their home numbers. They called to check on me. They knew we were worried so they saw me almost daily for a long time. Drs. Robinson and Baer arranged to do surgery at night after long days in the office so both could be there to work together. The teamwork among the staff at all levels was amazing and their kindness has been comforting. I could see that they were all doing their best for me. After the third surgery the doctors said that they were afraid there was little hope that my vision would recover. The next day, however, I saw light, shadows and even color for the first time! Two months ago, Dr. Robinson implanted a new lens in my eye which improved my vision greatly and this week I was fitted for new glasses that will bring my vision back to 20/20 in both eyes!! We will forever sing the praises of Cabarrus Eye Center. Locke Floyd, Concord, NC

There are some other ladies in the office who come across as abrupt, rude and just generally unhappy people. No warm fuzzy going with them at all. The nurse who takes you back to the room is nice enough BUT she is usually in such a hurry that when she asks you questions, she lets you get out a few words before she cuts you off and doesn't let you finish your statement. I am no chatty Kathy. I will answer a question succinctly with the information you need. Please don't cut me off. First, how RUDE and second, it ended up taking even more time because I had to repeat what I had started saying and then finish my statement for her to have the information she needed. How did the rudeness save time? It didn't. Thankfully Drs. Fix and Eckel are AWESOME. I am difficult to get a correct lense because I really need a stronger RX than I have but it gives me headaches so we have to work and find what will work for me. I've seen both doctors over the years but have stuck with Dr. fix overall because she has found the knack for getting the right RX strength for me. So ultimately, I keep coming back because the doctors are fantastic but if it weren't for them, I would go somewhere else because the front staff just make me feel like an imposition when I come in. Maybe that is completely unintentional on their part but I'd like them to be aware of how the make people feel. I'm thick skinned but how about the elderly or people going thru tough times...they don't need to be made feel like that. I only took off one star for that.

If I could give this location zero stars, I would. This has been the most disappointing experience…read moreI've had with an eye care provider, and I have been receiving routine eye care since adolescence. My primary concerns relate to communication and professionalism at the front desk, particularly involving the office manager at the Rocky River location. During a recent visit, I was given incorrect information regarding my insurance coverage for an eye exam. I was initially told that I would be responsible for a significant out-of-pocket cost, which understandably caused concern and led me to consider canceling or rescheduling my appointment. When I attempted to clarify this with the front desk, I encountered inconsistent explanations and was informed that I would be charged a $50 cancellation fee. This was especially frustrating given that the confusion stemmed from misinformation provided by staff. When discussing the matter with the office manager, I found her demeanor to be dismissive and unprofessional, which further added to the stress of the situation. Fortunately, after speaking with a member of the financial department, I was correctly informed that my exam would be fully covered by insurance. While I ultimately proceeded with the appointment, the experience leading up to it was unnecessarily stressful and could have been avoided with clear and accurate communication. Additionally, I observed what appeared to be staff discussing patients within earshot of others, which raised concerns about professionalism and patient privacy. I do want to acknowledge that several staff members were courteous and helpful. However, my interactions with the office manager significantly impacted my overall impression of this location. I hope leadership addresses these concerns to improve communication, professionalism, and the overall patient experience.

After speaking to them 3 times and I asked for an itemized list of where my $789 dollars went. My insurance company was able to tell me that eyecare center is trying to charge me for a test that is not covered by my insurance. With every eye appointment I have ever had, if ever there was a test available that wasn't covered, I was always asked if I wanted that. And I have asked 3 times for eyecare center to send me an itemized list. I have also asked on the phone what they are charging me for. They said items not covered by insurance. But they can't tell me what exactly, nor does the bill have a list for what I am being charged for. My husband and I both have been going to eyecare center a long time. The doctors changed, the staff was different. It felt rushed. But what doctor's office waits 6 months to send a bill by email. No call. No paper bill in the mail until I asked. And when I call, I don't get to talk anyone in the office I went to. And they don't call you back. No I do not recommend. My husband and I won't be back.

They have expressed over & over how uncomfortable & less effective these extremely expensive contacts are but the Dr Reece refused to listen. My husband did finally get through to Dr Reece in person after months of "trying" them & proving to him that he preferred the others. However Dr Reece then refused to give him the written prescription for what they decided on when we decided to purchase elsewhere. My husband & daughter both took weeks, multiple calls, & multiple in person visits to get their prescriptions from the office & when my husband finally got his it was for the contacts that he had actually fought so hard to avoid. Therefore he had to go back two more times to get the correct prescription. Due to frequent insurance changes we have been to many different eye doctors. They have both been in contacts since childhood. We have never had any issues like this! They have always had success in contacts with no complications at all. There was no reason for any of this. Obviously patient care & quality eye care are not the priority here!!
