Came here on March 5th for the first time to get dip powder and a gel pedicure . Two of my nails chipped in the middle of the week. It was decent service and a guy name BEN did them. I came back on March 12th ( 7 days later) and asked for the two that chipped to be redone . The guy name Ben sis not remember doing my nails so the owner tells the receptionist that i will have to pay . I paid 90 plus a tip to this guy and my nails didn't last a week. I asked to speak to the manager . He said it would be 45 minutes and for me to sit at the drying station... two chipped a nails that someone in this establishment is responsible for ... and i requires to pay because the mail artist wouldn't own up to their mistake ...!?! I usually enjoy my time at Model Nails. I live in Vestavia, so if I am in the area and visiting my parents and need my nails done, I go here. The facility is large and I never have to wait more than 20ish min. They usually do a good job. It's definitely the best I have found in the McCalla area. read more

This is the most horrible place I've ever been. I was growing my nails and they were extremely long, the male tech in the front closest to the wall cut every single one of my nails saying they were old and needed to be cut off. He cut them past my meat and they were sore for weeks. I have a painful blood clot growing under my toe nail from the most painful pedicure I've ever endured. I was charged $5 more than what the sign said and was advised of a price increase that was no where to be found. I called to report this issue to management and was told to call back 3xs. That night, one of my big toes had chipped off. Saturday, 08/18/18: half of one of my gel polish nails chipped off and another toe was chipped off halfway. Monday, 08/20/18: This was the first afternoon that I was able to return to the salon to show them my nails. I didn't have time to have them redone, but they said to come back when I could. Wednesday, 08/22/18: I returned to the salon to have my nails redone. At this point, ALL of my toes looked like they had been painted for weeks and my gel polish was trying to peel from my nails. After he had to remove the polish from every single one of my nails, I asked if I could get a different color. He offered me half off of the normal price for a color change for my toes and fingers and said that would be $15 for my hands and $10 for my toes. My friend called and asked for their pricing after I left. Come to find out, the normal price is $25 for gel nails and $12 for regular polish toes. Yet, I was charged $25. It may only be $6.50, but that kind of sleaziness adds up quick. Honestly, I shouldn't have had to pay a single dime since every single nail had to be redone anyways, but I obliged to half off. When I realized the mistake, I turned around and went back. Rather than refunding the $$6.50 difference, they gave me $3 and refused the rest. I had such a horrible experience at this nail salon. I came in recently for the first time trying to find a new nail salon that I may like. I came in to get a fill in and the guy who did my nails was so rough with my fingers. I honestly thought he was going to break them in half. One of my nails ended up breaking so I had to come back for a nail repair. I waited so long for someone to come and fix my nail. Just bad customer service overall. I know of other nail salons in the area that does nails way better than this salon and are very affordable than this one. The prices at this nail salon are ridiculous. Don't let the inside fool you. Absolutely terrible service!! The young girl in the front is especially rude and even brushed off my concerns when I told them I was overcharged. I asked for a gel manicure and pedicure. The tech literally put my feet in water, cut my nails and applied polish, for which I was charged $42. I didn't even get lotion. NOTHING!!!! Since I moved to Alabama I've been going to Model Nails in Bessemer in the Publix plaza to get my nails done. I've overlooked alot of things such as over price service and often witness attitude given to clients. Today I went to get my nails done and while starting to service I was asking about prices for this and prices for that so I can get a better idea on what I will need to pay. The guy told me $60.00 for my hands. I said okay, which I thought was way over price. So while I was getting my feet done he brought up the piece of paper with the price for my hand which was $60.00 and hand it to the guy doing my feet. While getting my feet done one lady kept looking at my hand and talking in their language to the guy who did my hand and to guy doing my feet. She kept coming to me looking at my hand and talking in the language. That made me feel so uncomfortable because I didn't know what they were saying. I asked the guy doing my feet was everything okay? He said "yeah, they were discussing the way the price work so the customer are not confused and it wasn't about me" I said okay. I not stupid I don't understand what they were saying but I had a feeling they were saying the guy didn't charge me enough for what I done to my nail. But I figured since he already quoted me the price and wrote down for the guy I was fine and they would honor that and trained him next time to over price the next customer. When I went to pay the guy who did my feet put $67.00 for my hand instead of the $60.00 that was written on the paper. The color that I picked from their color charts, matched the shirt that I had on exactly. But however, when they brought it out and put it on my nails it was more fluorescent than a pale color. The person doing my nails left big gaps wavy, nicks even had painted fuzz on the end of one. My nails were crooked in places not the same size. Pros: You get your nails and/or feet done. Cons: Rude, disrespectful, entitled nail techs and managers who seemingly have no manners or concept of customer service. They will overcharge you if you do not pay attention. Poor quality work, causes nails to come off prematurely. They rush you. On Feb 6th I had an appt for fill-in with Danny for 9am. I had already finish my pedicure at 9:06am. 9:30am rolls around no Danny. Manager states "He's on the way". I stated "Okay". 10:00am rolls around I had to be seen by someone else. I was give $5 discount after sitting there an hour for a 9am appointment. Manager told me its not his fault. His co-workers said Danny does this all the time. They are very unprofessional and inconsiderate of your time but they want their money. I should have known better when I went in the time before that one of the girls got mad at me just because I ask her if my nails was even. They was not. They do not like to be corrected. I'm pretty upset to say the least. I came in on a pretty easy Saturday. I wanted SNS and a pedicure. Well guy does my nails and toes, and the manager looks at them...he's pissed and so am i. I went in today to get a pedicure and it was ok. I messed up my toes at home and I called to see if they could fix it and they said yes. I get there and I was questioned to death; when did I come? Who did my nails and so on.. The lady who re-painted them had a nasty attitude about doing them over again and wouldn't help me put my sandal on so I wouldn't mess they up again. I didn't even let my toes dry in the salon. I put the heat on blast in the car and let them dry there. Needless to say, I won't be coming back.. Horrible service ! read more

They don't speak English well which makes it close to impossible to describe what you want and many of the "nail artist" can't do the designs they show on their nail wheels. These people are so rude and disrespectful. I told the owners wife I wanted a fill in and gel overlay. She looked at my fingers and said, "you want full set." I said, "no." She began to speak in her language to one of her employees in an angry tone, and sent me to the back with a technician. The technician gave me the same attitude because she wanted me to get a full set. She proceeded to say that "it's just 7 dollars." I asked her "if it's just seven dollars, why don't you pay for it." She was so rude, I refused to let her finish my nails. I have observed this behavior on two occasions, and it usually happens to PEOPLE OF COLOR. I observed this behavior on a previous occasion when a grandmother brought her sweet little grand girls in to treat them to nail pampering. The technician clearly did not want to be bothered with young children from the start. The girls ranged in age from 7-9. One of the girls smeared her polish and the technician had the audacity to yell at her. The grandmother became furious and the manager (husband) had to be called back to intervene. He did not show compassion towards the customer, and was more considerate towards the technician. This was also an "AFRICAN AMERICAN FAMILY." These people do not appreciate our business, and if they treat you disrespectfully and mean you should stop patronizing them and spend your money where people are appreciative and value your business. read more

I got a fill in on Saturday August 25, 2018 and returned on Sunday August 26, 2018 because a nail broke the day I left the nail shop and her excuse was it was time for a soak off and I needed a new full set. They charged me $5.00 for a repair and she was very rude. I have returned to other nail shops and they've repaired for no charge if it was within 24 hours and the lady was rude and talked about me the entire time she was repairing my nail and now the one that she repaired feel like she used gorilla glue to put it on, If I take the nail off I think my whole nail will come off. I just got home from Model Nails. I have been a regular customer since they opened. Have always gotten good service, until today. David did my nails and was doing well until the polish was to be applied. He began applying and I said, "That's the wrong color." He said, "It's the one you chose." I said, "No, I chose red and this is clearly pink." He got up, brought the chart back to me and I pointed to the color I had chosen. He then said, "You chose 600 and this is 900. You looked at it upside down." I said, "No, the color I chose is 072..." He said, "It's pink too. Make up your mind," as he walked away mumbling something (foreign) then said, "72"... you sure it's 72?" I yelled, "72, did you understand me?!?" He began applying it after doing the Vietnamese chatter, that of course, no one understands... He then had the audacity to say, "Looks pretty, right? You'll like it..." I said, "BS! Just put it on and I'll take it off when I get home and use my own polish!" It was silence from that point on... It is really bad when a business has great potential but doesn't know how to treat customers. I went here to have gel nail done for my engagement pics. I had a few pictures to show the staff as examples of what I wanted done. I wanted a solid color with a glitter gradient on top. More glitter at the cuticle and less at the top...A GRADIENT. During the manicure, I looked at the first nail that was done and told the girl that it was not right. She yanked my hand back to her and mumbled under her breath. I Asked if she could fix it and she said "Yes yes". I showed her the picture again. I left there 30 min later with a pink nails with a big glop of silver glitter on each finger. No gradient, just a big glop of glitter. Because I had other appointments, I could not have them fix it right away so I called back the next morning. I was told that it would be $20 to fix it. I explained to the "manager" (who knows who it really was) what happened and he said the woman who did my nails said I liked it. Uh, no. That was never ever ever said. I explained to him again and he said it would be $20. Obviously I did not go back. There were a lot of people in there having their nails done but I suspect that this place will not be busy for long. I would not recommend this nail salon to anyone. The staff is extremely rude, nonapologetic, and prideful as if patrons don't deserve better service. Today was my first and last visit. The headrest are not sanitized after each brow wax, patrons wait 15-20 mins for a wax while the young lady does nothing but chat with her fellow associates, no one ever said thank you, and other patrons were asked to wait 30-45 mins for gel nails and 3 associates sat at the front desk. Given the prices, the service should be much better. It is very difficult to get good service, because many of the workers do not speak English well. What makes the language barrier worse, is that the three tecs I have had keep nodding their head and saying yes as if they understand me, but they do not. I have asked them not to use the electric filer, but they continue to do so because of the language gap. The shop is very clean and they offer many services. I love the atmosphere and the ambience, but the service does not match the shop. The woman who does the waxing is great. I wish that everyone else was great too. Today was one of the worst experiences that I have had at Model Nails. I frequent there often and it is one of the cleanest nail salons that I have been too. The problems is in how they treat their customers! I had gone this morning and spent well over 60 dollars on my nails and my niece's nails. After leaving I chipped my nail and needed a repair. Upon entering after they learned that I needed One Nail Fixed the owner tells me that they are busy and to come back another time! I literally just left the establishment 2 hours before. I was pleasantly surprised with this nail salon. I was greeted promptly, and taken to a station to have a fill done. After taking off my nail polish and seeing that my nails had been filled many times and that there was mold/fungus under one, the gentleman recommended that I get a new set. I agreed, and he took me to another gentleman who would do the new set for me. The new gentleman was very nice, was talkative, and explained to me what he was doing and why and that it was not a good idea to go for long periods of time without getting a new set because fungus could grow in the air pockets between fills. He took his time, did my full set, and did a great job. I am new to the area, so he talked to me about different things in the area and about college sports that are popular here.
