This place is Awesome!!! Friendliest team ever! I went last night to have dinner with my son, I saw that there was a double charge on a meal no big deal. Brought it up to the guys attention and he said give me a min we will fix this for you. This place is pretty good and reasonably priced. Thin crust pizza, very thin crust but tasty. They could put about 20% more toppings on their pizzas but I guess this is how you keep them under $10 each. Most men would eat the whole thing and still not be stuffed but that is probably not a bad thing overall. They sell Ding dongs for dessert but can't call them that. Salads aren't bad and the soda machine has excellent ice, the kind that is very easy to break down. Pizza is made in less than 10 minutes as well. read more

We went there for lunch on a Saturday. They were not busy at all when we first arrived. I think they were very disorganized in even making the pizza, greeting the customers, and we had to ask to pay for the pizzas and get drink orders in. Furthermore, we ordered a mini-pizza that was really completely burned on one side/edge and they offered no apology or anything. My wife called and was told they would remake. I showed up and Marty( the immature manager(he hangs up on me later) said he would not even though they choose the delivery service they use. Grabbed a quick dinner before a flight at MOD pizza. I've only had Pieology prior to trying MOD so that is what I compared it to. My pizza's texture tasted like it was not cooked long enough. This place is steadily improving. I went twice when it opened. The first time they made the pizza so spicy it was inedible. The second time they burnt my pizza to a crisp and played it off like nothing. I didn't return for a couple of months. I was not planning on going back. I saw, on my phone, an advertisement for a Wednesday special. I was literally in the shopping center parking lot. The whole crew working the afternoon (around 3pm) of 10/03/18 were so nice. They were all smiling. The young lady making my pizza took such great care putting it together, it was literally like she was making it for herself. Just want to jump on here snd say what an amazingly great place this is. The restaurant was clean. Gary and his crew allowed our school to do a field trip there and we saw it all! I'll make it short. The restaurants fountain drink and ice tea machines are off line, the interior of the restaurant is dirty, and the tables are not being cleaned as required by the CDC. It used to be fun to come to this restaurant but service has declined and Covid hasn't helped them. The only saving grace, the pizzas and salads are oddly delicious each and every time. Today was my first time here. Nice experience! Treat yourself to good food and drink at Mod Pizza in Palos Verdes. Drinks here are readily available, so you can enjoy a glass of beer or try something else. This restaurant is kids friendly, so little ones are welcome to tag along. Be sure to check out MOD Pizza's outdoor seating when the climate is right. MOD Pizza is a great location to host a group dinner or Lunch. I really recommend this restaurant to all neighborhood people. One SUGGESTION for Mod MANAGER: please put paper towels in the rest room for more healthy and hand cleaning, as well. Dry heater is not sufficient or enough for restaurants and food service locations. Their price is really reasonable and fair in comparing a lot of pizza places. read more

The experience started out good but then rapidly declined. The lady making my pizza and guy at the register were nice. But then a female employee came in, I assume it was an employee since she went to the employee only area. She sat at a table in the back by the restrooms. I changed my table to one in the back as well just because it was cozier however I was socially distanced from her and around a corner so we can both have our own space. I left my drink on the table and went to the restroom. I came out and she deliberately sat at my table with her stuff leaning against my drink. She says to me 'oh were you sitting here?' During covid they have been more than excellent to accommodating these circumstances. Their service is incredibly fast and ordering is quick and easy and they maintain social distance and still provide great service. They provide great pizza with incredible accuracy so it is very worth it to go there. We used to come here often, but didn't start eating out again till recently. We order a mega dough pizza and cheesy garlic bread. The cheesy garlic bread had no garlic and hardly any cheese, and tasted awful. The pizza was dry, and the crust was literally half the pizza. We had to trash it after the first bites, and still got diarrhea in the morning!! We had ordered curbside pickup. I feel it's better to order in store because the person that made our pizza really didn't care at all and it felt like there was no time or sincerely put into making our pizza. WARNING: DO NOT EAT AT MOD PIZZA On my visit on 9/9/2017 @ 7:20pm, as I dined in, I watched the workers assemble pizzas and operate on the line. MOD Pizza employees are violating hand washing health inspection codes. I watched one of their employees prepare the dough WITHOUT any gloves AND wipe her face TWICE as she proceeded to handle more dough. Currently it is flu season, and judging from other team members also wiping their faces on their arms while preparing food, you have employees who are potentially sick and should NOT be preparing food for public consumption. I notified the assistant manager about what I witnessed. He replied something along the lines of: "I understand" other restaurants do [make their employees use gloves while preparing the dough], but "it is not MOD's policy" for employees to wear gloves "while handling the dough." He notified the employee in question to wipe the flour of her face and wear gloves; HOWEVER, he did NOT tell her to throw away the contaminated dough she prepared. He MIGHT have told her to wash her hands too, but I did not see any hand-washing occur to my knowledge. I continued to watch the same employee wipe flour off her glasses on her SHIRT, NEGLECT to wash her hands, and then proceeded to wear gloves. I also witnessed another employee adjust his pants, wipe the assembly surface, AND inadvertently touch the trash can while throwing trash away with the SAME pair of gloves. The SAME pair of gloves that he was handling customers' pizzas with. HIGHLY UNSANITARY. When I passed my CA Food Handler's license test, I understood that ANY employee handling food MUST wash their hands before beginning work; before handling food/equipment/utensils; AS OFTEN AS NECESSARY, during food preparation, to remove soil and contamination; when switching from working with raw to ready-to-eat foods, AFTER TOUCHING BODY PARTS; using the toilet; OR ANY TIME WHEN CONTAMINATION MAY OCCUR. In lieu of constant hand washing, gloves should be changed as often as necessary then. I get it: MOD Pizza wants to be a "counterculture" and "hip" restaurant that sets them apart from competitors like Blaze and Pieology, but none of that matters when you are NOT following the same standards that ALL retail restaurants are held to***. *** As I recall, MOD Pizza did NOT have a food inspection grade/score card present/clearly visible. The food is nothing special. Roughly $12 for a 11" pizza and a fountain drink. The crust is very thin, so the more ingredients you add, the soggier and messier it gets. I suggest you take your business and go to Blaze, Pieology, or ANYWHERE else NOT MOD Pizza. Unless this establishment starts to shape up and operate professionally as all retail restaurants do, MOD Pizza should not be open to public. EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK read more

I've been to this MOD pizza location twice thus far, the first time was when they first opened with some friends when they had the half off promotion, and the second was more recently. I could go on and on about how much I LOVE this place. This is a great spot for families and young people like myself to eat. The prices are decent, the service is always great, everyone is always very friendly and helpful, especially the manager Sandra, Ben, and a gentleman with blue hair and glasses who's name I can't recall now, and another tall extremely personable fellow who mans the cashier's station, who's name I also can't recall at the moment. Overall, I feel this place is better than Blaze pizza and Dominos pizza, in terms of the service, taste of the food, and the overall ambience. It's also conveniently located in the peninsula center, near the high school. I always feel very taken care of in terms of service and treatment by the staff. And I have recommended this place to several people, and will continue to in the future. For your reference, I usually order a regular sized "build your own" pizza, in which I have various veggies on top such as spinach, garlic, tomatoes, onions, green and black olives, bell peppers, etc. Recently, I paid about 21 bucks for two pizzas and a float, which I feel was good. You can refill the floats, which is pretty awesome. The first time I went, the group bought 4 pizzas, 3 shakes and 1 float all for under 25 bucks, which was phenomenal under the previous half off promotion. The pizzas are always well cooked and delicious. The staff members that man this area are always quite personable, and I haven't seen anything particularly concerning, like a previous review I saw alluded to, in which that person commented on the sanitation of the food...I haven't witnessed a sanitation issue in the times I've gone, maybe this issue was alleviated? It's all about their pizza salad for me. Both Pieology and Blaze Pizza have locations closer to me, but when I catch a movie at the nearby Regal cinema, I drop by MOD Pizza for their pizza salad ($10ish): a crust with asiago cheese baked on top, along with a custom built salad (spring mix, arugula, spinach, plus meat/toppings from the pizza section). They pack the salad separately so it doesn't get wilted and sad when you take it to-go. It's such a simple concept which for whatever reason their competitors have yet to adopt to my knowledge. This location is practically empty on a weekday mid-afternoon. Service is laid-back and friendly. read more

I'm a big fan of this casual dining location and a bigger fan of their pizza salad (it's the only thing that I order here). The salad ingredients are fresh and the facts that you are not limited to a certain number of salad items is a definite bonus. Throw the salad on top of a warm Asiago pizza crust, and it's a complete meal. Their seasonal or staff recommendations have been pretty good. They had an asparagus salad (which is no longer available) that I consistently ordered. I was actually sad that it left the menu. My only criticism is that when ordering the pizza salad to go, they have to pack the salad separate from the pizza crust because the box isn't big enough. This review is not for their food but their service. We went on Veterans day after hearing about their Vets day promotion at participating locations. We tried to call but nobody ever picked up the phone. It went to voicemail which had a generic voicemail. Nothing that said they were MOD pizza. We Drive down there to see if they were a participating location. We went to a worker and asked about what the promotion was. She was clueless so she asked a manager who, in ear shot, said "I don't have time now, maybe in 20 minutes". No time for a veteran? The lady turned to us saying he will be right with us. Ugmm.. Okay. While waiting we saw the workers like it was their first day on the job. No communication between each other with phrases like "I have 5 cheese pizzas and none of them are labeled" "I told them to label them" etc... So waiting for 10min. We went to the front of the line asking the girl when the person was supposed to talk to us and who it was. She pointed to the tall bearded guy with glasses. She asked if we were ordering a pizza. She then said "well, you aren't ordering a pizza". We just wanted information! So we wait in line as they serve people that came in after us. When we talk to him we notice a sign at the register which just says " tell us about your service and your next pizza is on us". The guy at the register explained that we would have to buy a pizza then they would give us a voucher for a free pizza next time. It didn't say you had to buy anything on the sign at the register. We told him we were waiting for 10minutes for him. He said he thought we were asking him about a fundraiser! What?! Total lack of communication between their employees. We were very upset at how we were treated. They were like headless chickens with the first day on the job. You know how you people feel when they promise something for being a veteran then get completely ignored? We felt helpless and tossed aside. Next! We will complain to corporate because we feel like a Yelp review never does anything. If you have problems with a chain go to the company who holds their locations and franchises to certain standards and consistency. Please please go and eat at MOD Pizza in Rancho Palos Verdes. From the moment I walked through the door with my students with special needs, they went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. They gave all my students milkshakes and even asked us to take a picture with their staff. The staff was patient as each student ordered their own lunch. Amber, the shift manager/CAPTAIN made our visit especially enjoyable. She made us feel welcome and ensured we all had great service. My students were smiling and had the best community outing ever- they give a big thumbs up for the pizza. One of my favorite new additions in the PV shopping center. The pizza is so good ( in my opinion better than pieology and blaze) and the employees are so friendly and welcoming. I love that you can add as many toppings as you like. But that Pizza Crust?!? BOMB! We love the $2 beer Tuesday's - just wish there was a bigger beer selection... that's really the only complaint. One of your managers Ilene is so amazing - true professional, personable and all about customer service. One of your biggest assets! This place is has a pretty good concept. I like the idea of getting to put together a custom pizza in a minute or so, and the have all of the topping that you could ever thing you might want. To top that off, they have a really friendly group of staff that work every hard to serve you. I'm not sure what exactly it was that fell a little bit flat for me. I have been there several times and tried a few different combinations, and I think I have to blame the crust for the reason why I didn't like it so much. I generally like a thin crust pizza like the kind you generally get at a New York style pizzeria, but this crust was a little too thin and ended up tasting like I was eating all of those topping on a cracker: too crunchy and not enough chew and yeasty flavors that I tend to enjoy in good bread dough. The upside it is that the food is really fast, they have a ton of toppings and a few good beers. Their choice of beverages is pretty nice too. The Marion berry Lemonade (which bears no relation to the former Washington DC Mayor) is really good, and their pear Ice tea is really good. If you don't mind the cracker crust, then you should try it. read more

Pizza tasted fine. Here are the down sides to this place. #1. Dirty table. We asked the guy if he would clean it. After moving slow as if he didn't want to be there, he grabs a bucket. In that bucket is a soaking dirty towel. He removes the dirty towel, barely wipes our table and then puts the dirty towel back into the bucket of dirty water and places the water bucket back under the area you put your plates when done. #2. My friend and I shared a pizza. There are no plates to share pizza. You get the one pizza on a plate. You get napkins and you put the napkins on the dirty table and then you put your slice of pizza on the dirty napkin on the dirty table. HOW ABOUT SOME PLATES TO EAT OFF OF MOD? #3. Most employees didn't smile and acted like they had better places to be. #4. No forks, spoons, #5. There was a lady from some non-profit (inside the restaurant) asking for donations inside the store. Hey. I get emailed, snail mailed and hit up for donations at every coffee shop, store, and place I shop (practically). Can I eat my lunch / dinner in peace without getting hit up for ANOTHER donation? I won't be returning. Hire employees that are happy to be there. Give plates for us to share our pizza pie. Keep people from hitting us up for money when we just want to relax, and keep the tables cleaned without using a dirty bucket of water with a dirty towel that has been soaking in it for god knows how long. We went on Sunday (8/4/19) around 9pm. Though the pizzas were good as usual, the service was abysmal! Even my teen niece, who works part-time at a popular coffee chain, was disgusted by the subpar service! The one girl who prepared the dough and put the toppings moved with no sense of urgency, and seemed unsure what to do next. We ordered pizzas which were on their classic menu. While preparing the "Tristan", she stopped for a minute staring blankly at the ingredients and asked me what was supposed to be on it! Unbelievable! There were other members of the crew who didn't care to extend help, despite the line starting to build behind us. To the management of MOD: no one appeared to be in charge last night. Please make sure you train your staff well, and no matter how late, please ensure there is a shift manager who can lead your TEAM. We are all for supporting local businesses, but you have to provide us the level of service we deserve. read more
