I had points that were going to expire in a couple of days, and since I happened to be in Rolling Hills Estates to catch a movie, I figured I could stop by this MOD Pizza to see how it compares to the other locations I've been to before. The Long Beach location is closest to me, and it's been a pretty solid location in the ~8 years it has been there save for a couple of pretty bad experiences. This location in Rolling Hills Estates is in Peninsula Shopping Center on the southwest corner of Hawthorne and Silver Spur. It's a pretty large shopping center over there, but just know that MOD Pizza is directly across from Pavilions. With MOD Pizza Rewards, the best reward is a free menu item for 150 points; this is because the free menu item includes a Mega Thick Crust Pizza or a Mega Salad, both of which can feed at least 2 people. From my experience with salads at the Long Beach and Downey locations, I can agree that a Mega Salad can feed 2 people, but here's a hot tip I'll bury in this review if you're still reading: you can request for your salad to be prepared in a stainless bowl. That way, the salad doesn't come out layered, and *if you're lucky*, a Mega Salad can actually get you more than 2 meals worth of salad, which comes in handy if you want to bring lunch to work the next 2 days. You can also ask for croutons and dressing on the side as well as a couple of empty MOD-size bowls to go with your Mega Salad. This is one thing I like to do to meal prep for the week ahead. Notice how I encompassed the prepositional, yet also conditional, phrase with asterisks? Keep on reading. I arrived at about 5 PM on a Sunday, and there was just one customer waiting in line to order, though he was also looking at the menu while waiting for his turn. I still had to wait about 5 additional minutes even though they had ample staff working that day; I guess they were also busy with online orders that were coming through? But even during my wait, one of the employees erroneously and prematurely said he was ready to serve me when he actually wasn't, thus pulling my leg and making me wait even longer. When it was my turn, I asked a different employee if I could get a Mega Salad prepared in a stainless bowl. However, he interpreted that as my ordering for here and eating my salad inside when I wanted to order to go. After some back and forth, he finally understood what I meant and started to prepare my salad. I like ordering most every topping on my MOD salads with the exception of artichokes and anchovies. I also asked for croutons on the side, but instead of fetching a small plastic container, he put the croutons in a water cup and sealed it with plastic wrap. Like, really? Not very professional looking if you ask me. For the dressings, he did ask if I wanted them on the salad or on the side; I requested on the side. I asked for three different vinaigrettes, and he got one of each for me initially until I asked for a second cup of each to go with my salad, which was no problem at all. He didn't seem like he wanted to be working on that Sunday evening as he pretty much exhibited a monotonic facial expression while building my salad. Also, I noticed that he had immense trouble fitting my salad into the container, so he pretty much had to shove the salad as far inside as he could so he could secure the lid on top. At first, I thought that because I requested most every topping in my salad, he built my salad to the maximum portion size possible. Not the case here, unfortunately. When I got home, I noticed that the Mega Salad I had asked for was actually a MOD-size salad! I could tell because I compared the salad bowl with the size of the empty bowls I requested, and all three bowls were exactly the same size! As a result, the salad I received didn't fully fill the two MOD-size containers, so I got much less salad than I expected. So in essence, I used my free pizza/salad reward on a MOD-size salad when it would have worked on a Mega Salad as well. You can imagine how much unhappier I would have been had I actually paid for a Mega Salad only to get a MOD Salad instead. Even though it's only a $2 difference, it's a significantly much larger difference in portion size. With all these aforementioned shortcomings, I almost thought about giving 2 stars without even trying the salad, but I'll award the third star because the salad tasted great when I saved it for lunch the following day and even the day after! I just wish I didn't have to cook dinner when I got home because I was already planning on saving the salad for lunch those next two days. If their salads are any indication of how good their pizzas are, I'd totally make a return visit if I lived in or around the area. Unfortunately, I don't really have much reason to return to Rolling Hills Estates, so I doubt I'll return to this location.

The good: This is like the Chipotle of pizzas. Your pizza is made to order and you can point at the ingredients you want on your pizza and watch as they make it. There were tons of meat, veggie and cheese options as well as drizzles and other sauces. Drinks are self-serve as well as utensils. I got a drink (Marion blackberry lemonade), pepperoni pizza and a veggie pizza 6" each for under $30. This is the 2nd Mod Pizza I've been to and the layout is pretty similar in both. I love that the pizza is made to order and you can see them stretch out the dough, add the toppings and pop the pizza in the oven in front of you. The texture of the pizza was just how I liked it. I like the thinner crust. I like how you can fold the pizza without it being floppy and I liked the dough bubbles created inside from when it cooked. Mt veggie pizza had slices of tomato (diced tomato is an option too), roasted corn, red onion and fresh basil. The fresh basil was ::chef's kiss:: magnifique. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Inside, they played music like Weezer. Our order was brought out to our booth for a dine-in experience. They have signature pizza options that are pre-built if you don't want to build your own. They also have different crust options. The workers there were quick. They offer salads and catering as well. The bad: It was kind of cold inside with a/c blowing pretty hard. It isn't cheap. The interesting: My 4 year old finished her entire 6" pizza. They have cookies as dessert too.

Mod and blaze pizza are chains that offer subway sandwich like food models- you can "personalize" the pizza as you go along the counter. The pizzas are super thin and they cool fast The staff seemed universally friendly. They have indoor and outdoor seating Lots of families and kids Note: no utensils. You eat with your hands

We like MOD which is similar to Blaze and other fresh cooked to order in less than 10 minutes thin crust pizza parlor chains. Our pizza was delicious! The service was quick and parking is easy.

MOD Pizza at Peninsula Center is always a great experience! The staff is friendly, welcoming, and keeps everything moving quickly, even when they're busy. The pizza was fresh, loaded with toppings, and cooked perfectly with a crispy crust. I really appreciate how customizable everything is, and the restaurant was clean with a great atmosphere. Definitely one of my favorite spots when I'm craving pizza. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

I'm local and they were amazing when they opened and i went quite often. It did seem to go through a period of getting not quite so good burgers - overly wet and drowning in sauce - but I think they just had a bad patch. I went again recently and it was great. For a fast-food burger this may be my favorite. Better value than Five Guys and meatier than In'n'Out. I would give them 4/5 stars but looks like they need some help so squeezing it to a 5 ! Enjoy!

I find it's worthwhile to have the Habit app, as they have a lot of deals. I'm personally a fan of the double charburger. This location is quite busy but you get your food quickly. Although they can take your order at the counter, it's obvious that it is encouraged that you just order at the kiosk yourself. Staff are friendly enough - they're efficient. I feel my one downside of all Habit locations is that you really don't see staff wiping down tables or anything between guests - so it really is just dependent on how the last guess has left things (never horrible...just doesn't feel really that clean?). Plenty of parking here!

This location is located in the same shopping plaza as other stores in PV like Pavilions, TJ Maxx, Target, Old Navy, and the like. So, it's surrounded by a very large parking lot, offering parking spaces for all the businesses. Thus, parking should never be an issue Once inside, you'll go up to the counter and choose what kind of sandwich, and/or other items that you would like. From my experience, Jersey Mike's has really stepped up their game over the past few years, paralleling, if not in some cases, exceeding other subway stations. They really do a very good job of making you a very tasty sandwich. They currently have a very good choice of breads, as well as all of the additives that you would want to put on your sandwich. Like most to-go food service businesses, the staff here are constantly changing. Sometimes they're super nice, sometimes they're disinterested. But, that's just what you expect at a business such as this. That's not a criticism, that's just the way it is. Overall, if you want to get a pretty tasty subway style sandwich and you're in the PV area, this may be your place to do it
