Looking for a new Taco Tuesday spot and this place popped up! I'm pretty picky about my street tacos but I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised! I tried, carne, pastor, carnitas n chicken (in order from favorite to least). But I thought they were all good!! What I really enjoyed was it was not greasy as some tacos can be. Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is due to the place is kinda hidden in the mall area. Which why I think there were not many patrons inside. But once you find it, it's a nice clean location and the gentleman at the counter was very nice n explained the top items they are known for. Which is birria. Had the birria ramen and it was so satisfying! Great portions, great service. I can't wait to go back to try some of the other menu items.

The sign on the door showing birria was very enticing so I decided to try this place for dinner after my workout. It's right in the center of the outside mall across from the Christmas tree. When I walked in around 6pm there was only one family there but a few people were coming in for pickup. I ordered the quesabirria and the fuego taco with asada. It took about 5 minutes to get my order. When the lady Mariela brought the food, I noticed there wasn't any salsa or Birria sauce in the side. I've never had a birria taco without the Birria sauce. That's the whole reason I ordered that taco. When I asked her where was the sauce, she said did you want sauce? I said yes and can I get salsa too. She said red or green and I said both. She looked a little perturbed that I said that which is weird because don't most people want salsa with their Mexican food? Lol. The family waiting for their take out heard our interaction and made sure to ask if there was salsa in their bag too. The quesabirria was good and hit the spot. I really should have just had that. First off it's cheaper than the fuego taco and it tastes much better. The fuego taco with asada was not good at all. The asada was way too salty for my liking. I used all the salsa and had to dip that taco in my birria sauce to make it edible. I asked for a spoon and once again Mariela seemed annoyed with me. Maybe she was just having a bad day but she never thanked me, checked on me (the only diner in the restaurant), or said bye or anything when I left...not even a smile. Even though the quesabirria was good, her vibe was bad. All in all I wouldn't come back here or recommend this spot to people at my Equinox gym nearby. There's so many other spots in the area so next time I'm in Rolling Hills Estates, I will try them out. read more

This is a fun new restaurant that's recently opened up in the Promenade shopping center. What they offer is a unique selection of Mexican influence international cuisine. They mix cultures and flavoring and truly present an interesting bite to eat. The main thing to keep in mind about what this restaurant offers is that their food is very flavorful. They use a great selection of spices and put their dishes together very well. The food is good! This is a casual restaurant. It predominantly is focused on its indoor dining area that you will find to be very clean with the tables well spaced. They also have a couple tables outside. I would hope at some point they will expand their outdoor dining section of this restaurant. They have a nice fenced off area over to one side that I believe that if they add a few more tables, it would become a truly great space to eat outdoors when the weather is inviting. Overall, the staff here are very nice. They do their jobs very well. And, it's a fun place to grab a quick bite to eat. read more

The good: I tried a fish taco, quesabirria, horchata, peninsula burrito and tortilla chips. I liked the spice and vegetable on the fish taco. The tortilla was crunchy on the quesabirria. There was both indoor and outdoor dining options. The outdoor space is right by the splash pad so this is a nice food spot to visit when taking the kids to play in the water. I liked how they had a variety of kid meal options for around $9 that came with free ice cream. The quesabirria special came with a free drink. The horchata had chunks of rice inside so it was texturally interesting and chewy (which I liked). I liked that it wasn't too thick or creamy. The ambience is very casual. The bad: The music inside was a little loud but only because I had a baby with me. The burrito was just okay to me. I would've liked more vegetables inside or salsa. They didn't give any sauces on the side but my husband used my moms salsa from her quesadilla. They forgot the horchata at first and we had to remind them about the drink. Possibly the best and most authentic mexican food ive ever had. Ive gone to many Mexican restaurants/trucks in my time so this itself means something. The service is always incredible and the atmosphere is enjoyable. My coworkers and I always go on our lunches and they are just a great staff overall. Today I ordered takeout inside Fuego Cravings-Rolling Hills Estates. After I left I noticed additional charges that were not disclosed during checkout. The first charge was listed as "Operating fee" for $1.35. The second charge was "bags" for $0.10. It isn't the amounts I object to, it's the fact that these added fees were not identified to me before I was asked for payment. The screen at checkout does not itemize charges. Not cool! So we finally made it back to try out their Birria Ramen. I was so excited about this but was sadly let down. I really wanted to like this! Let's break it down. Birria Ramen (3): The broth was good. That's always a good start. Flavorful and tasty. Unfortunately that was it. The Birria was just okay as before and the noodles were a disappointment. Just your basic top ramen dumped in. This was so promising! Why can't you use decent noodles! So sad... Quesabirria Taco (3): I got this again to really see if the last time they just had an off day. NOPE! The birria was the same flavor lacking meat and the shell was still just an oil drenched flaccid tortilla. They did give a good amount of birria but still, if you MUST dip it in a consome for flavor, then you NEED to provide the consome to go with it. I did dip it in the ramen broth which was good. Would it really hurt to keep it on the grill or in the fryer for an extra few minutes to crisp it up? Sadly, this place is just okay. I sooo wanted to like it and gave it a 2nd shot. We were introduced to this spot by a close friend. He loves to eat so I totally trusted him and was very thankful for the invite. Although I don't live close to this spot whatsoever, I would definitely find a reason to come back out again. The service was wonderful. The inside was clean, with plenty of seating. Parking is available inside the parking structure as well. No charge. My friends and I ordered an assortment of food (see photos). The birria ramen was ordered, however I didn't get a chance to photo it. I did get to taste it and it was so belly-satisfying. Not too greasy either. You definitely need to try their spicy dark red sauce if you want to add a nice kick to it. My favorite was the birria quesadilla, or quesabirria. We dipped it into the hot juice provided, a must. I added some guacamole sauce as well. So juicy and filling. Again, not greasy at all like I've had at other places. You can totally share this with someone and then order another dish to split. The surf n turf was incredible. The shrimp and Asada were seasoned perfectly and the sauce to accompany it made your taste buds dance! We got to meet one of the manager/owners Iqui who was very humbling and welcoming. I was RUNNING in to make sure I made it by 9 PM. But ordered and paid over the phone to make sure I got there without giving them a hard time. BUT the food was very disappointing. For $43 for 3 burritos, I expected flavor. Something. Tasted and felt like straight mush. The carne asada was weird. Mostly rice and beans. Like literally 75%. I would have rather got chipotle and have my stomach hurting after. I don't ever really put bad reviews but if you like flavor and what not... I would take your business elsewhere. My husband makes a mean queso birria at home, but it takes time. When we need a birria fix and fast we have to go out for it. We saw fuego opened at the mall and we were excited to try it! The birria was good, minus one star as the flavor is there but could be a bit more potent. Either way, it does the job! Make sure you order the queso birria instead of just the birria alone, it's so much better with the Oaxaca cheese! Staff was attentive and the cucumber water was delicious, unfortunately nothing good can be said about the Birria Ramen which was flavorless and came with undercooked instant ramen noodles.
