Terrible service when ordering online and picking up food. Our order was placed online and said it would be available for pick up at 735pm. They gave 3 pizzas and told us to wait 20 minutes for the remaining 4 pizzas and salad. We checked back 20 minutes later and was told "They were almost ready." Checked again 20 minutes later and found out that they didn't even make the remaining 4 pizzas and salad. Myself, wife, and our kids did not begin eating dinner until 9pm. To top it off, they didn't even give a refund or offer anything to compensate for their mistake! Worst experience ever!! read more

First visit and last....service was VERY slow and I was there around 5:15p. I asked for extra sauce, pepperoni and mushrooms. There were a lot of pizzas waiting to go into the oven, in no certain order, and it was a mess on the counter. The music is on so loud you can't even hear your name called [no intercom] and patrons next to my table told us we were called -- they were behind us in line. My pizza was cold, dry and burnt. Just had this pizza for the first time and it was spectacular. Went vegan a while back so got the vegan pizza with vegan cheese and vegetables and it was outstanding. Really disappointed with customer service. We walked in to get pizza and waited at least 10 minutes with no one bothering to help us. There was a couple in front of us who had been waiting even longer. I asked if we were going to be helped anytime soon and the response was no, because they had many mobile orders. My husband asked if they cared about customers walking in and she said she had to attend to the mobile orders. Normally our experience here is ok, but if this kind of customer service continues we won't be back. Needless to say, we walked out, as did the couple in front of us, since customer service doesn't seem to be the priority of the workers there. The 3 stars are for the " reasonably " priced pizza if you put a lot of toppings, which are very fresh btw. I shared it with my son who only wanted ham and mozza so not so cheap for a margarita pizza but that's the game. However I have been shocked by the smell when we entered the restaurant: like a stale canteen. All the tables were sticky; we stayed 45 min and I didn't see anyone cleaning tables. Don't order using the app and pay in advance. I ordered for curbside pick up at this location on June 2nd, 2020 at 6:15pm. I received a call from Alanna about 5:45 pm saying they have to close early due to the protestors in the area. I was not upset at all and understand that they need to keep their store and employees safe. I was promised a refund. Its now 6 days after the incident and my order still shows as "completed" and no refund was issued. I called today to ask to speak with Alanna and was told she would not be in until later so I asked to speak to a manager. A guy who was nice but I didn't get his name said they don't have any managers onsite at this time and their general manager is usually here but out sick until next week. He said they cannot process the refund there and I have to contact their IT department which is located in Washington. I called IT and received a voicemail and will see if they even call me back after leaving a detailed message. At this point, I think the only way to receive my refund is to dispute it with my credit card company. I left the message for IT and will give them another week before i ultimately have to file a dispute with the my credit card company. Because of this incident, unfortunately MOD has lost my business. read more

My girlfriend and I are regulars every Tuesday for the $2 tap beer pours. It's become a ritual for us to split a pie and quench our thirst on $2 beers until we walk home. Our most recent Tuesday visit was no exception, except that the IPA tap died after one pour. Victor went to work setting the tap right and managed to keep the taps flowing, like the hero he is. The staff is always friendly and very helpful and we've come to love and cherish our Tuesday routine. read more

Have been to other MOD pizza and enjoy the thick crust pizza. I liked Castro Valley when they first opened, but now the service is lacking. We went there during the week in the evening. It was not too crowded, however, we had to wait 15 minutes to put in our order. Then tried to find a semi clean table, not happpening! Also there were no clean dishes to put our pizza on. The place was quite dirty. There needs to be someone managing this place. I will give it another try because I like the pizza but won't go back if I get the same service again. read more

Yum! Perfect sized pizza for sharing or for the picky non-sharer! I ordered pineapple/ Canadian bacon for my daughter and it was tasty (who puts pineapple on pizza!!). Also mushroom and sausage was amazing. You can have them drizzle balsamic or pesto over the top. Definitely for next time! I saw a lady enjoying a broccoli cheese pizza! After waiting for the person working to finish chatting and making free food for her friends, she announced she was going on break. That's when her co-workers stepped up and decided to help the people that were patiently waiting in the massive line. Today was my first time trying MOD pizza. Gladys was my maker. She was patient and very informative. I asked lots of questions and not once did she appear to be annoyed or irritating. She even suggested that I add balsamic to the pizza after it was cooked vs before. My only complaint is that there were multiple people behind the counter but only Gladys was making pizzas. It seems the lone would go much quicker and you would have less complaints if more people stopped standing around and actually worked. However I am happy with my purchase and the service I was provided with. Will definitely be back. read more

Base pizza is a somewhat thin crust which is great, but if you wanted to up the ante...you need to get the mega and then ask for garlic butter and asiago on the edges of the crust before it goes in the oven. My daughter goes to school at Castro Valley High school and she was very excited about Mod Pizza being in Castro Valley she asked us if we wanted to order something and me and my boyfriend ordered two vegetarian pizzas, she placed the order and brought the pizzas home and my boyfriend started eating the pizza and noticed that there were strands of hair baked into the cheese I am extremely upset and disgusted that this would happen we have gone to multiple Mod Pizza's in the Bay Area and this has never happened and this is a poor representation of the brand I tried calling the number on Yelp and that is listed on the website and it does not work it just rings they will HAVE to honor this order and give me back my money because we will have definite problems , this is disgusting I have never had a hair in my food and I will never return back to MOD Pizza in Castro Valley you have to do better. Everyone was excited that you arrived in sleepy Castrovalley and now I am awake with hair in my pizza and a telephone number that just rings when I try to talk to management about this situation. I am a huge fan of MOD pizza I have gone to several different locations and the food is always warm and cooked perfectly and the customer service is always amazing. So I am truly confused how this Castro Valley location bombed so horribly . I ordered my food online for it to be ready when I got there... it was not ready and when they finally did get me my order I only received half of it. And the half I did order was cold. The missing piece of my order was the cinnamon bread sticks when the worker finally found my cinnamon sticks on a counter full of pizzas waiting to be delivered to people it was hard and cold. I told him I didn't want it.. he responded "yea it looks pretty gross I figured you wouldn't but it was worth a shot" he then put in a order for it to be remade and I had to wait another 10 minutes for it to be ready. There was no apology or any real acknowledgment for the mess up. As waited there I watched the workers and I couldn't believe how unsanitary they were being. The cross contamination of mixing plates to simply just throwing food on the floor and kicking it off to the side.. I will never return to this location. read more

I went here yesterday for a pizza and garlic strips to go. All the assembly people were very nice and friendly, and didn't mind when I asked for extra toppings or sauce on the side. I also saw them all change their gloves and tell the cook to use a new cutter on the next pizza because the customer behind me was vegan and asked if they could do that. I was impressed by how accommodating they were. The only thing that wasn't great was that the bottom of my pizza was charred but since it is a new place I assume that they will get the hang of it soon. I will be back soon. read more
