It's definitely a handy tip knowing before you go in that the line only moves as fast as the customers ordering, it's disheartening to see fellow customers frustrated over something the employees can't control. Every time I go in has always been a wonderful and friendly experience, and I must give shout outs to Addie and Jerrald for being very helpful and courteous employees. My pizza was made fast and to my liking, and came out quicker than I expected. If you're thinking of trying this place out, don't hesitate! It's delicious! read more

Great pizza and friendly/accomdating service. Good prices and fairly good in calories for pizza. Clean establishment and open late

When this location first opened, we loved it. Their customer service was excellent. Now we walk in, can stand in front of staff for minutes before they even acknowledge we're there. Tonight they ruined my pizza (inedible) simply because they did not listen to our personalized toppings. read more

I'm not a pizza person, but I'm definitely a MOD pizza person. I've been here twice, and the pizza is great!!! I like the fact that I can order my own pizza, different from my 10 year old who only likes cheese and olives. It's the perfect size for me and I get to load it with toppings I love. I went with the Lucy Sunshine but changed it up a bit to make it mine. The crust is perfect, not burned, nor raw. The toppings are fresh and bright. The balsamic swirl at the finish is tasty. I got it the first time, but left it off the second. Either with or without is tasty, just depends on my mood. Drink choices were nice, not just regular sodas but also handcrafted teas and lemonades. Granted, I've only been here twice, but the service was great!!! All folks were happy and helpful and patient while I chose what to add to my MOD. The family and I will definitely be back. This is now my go-to place for pizza!! Thanks MOD! read more

Came in for the first time today, with my family and friends. I ended up getting the double thick crust for additional $2 which made the pizza better, but I did not like that the onions that you have to select for your pizza are full thick red onion rings. When my pizza was done my onions were Raw also my mushrooms were cut so thick that those were also almost raw even after my pizza was baked. I really like the friendly staff they were super nice. I think they need at least two cash registers in there because the line can really get backed up with only one register open for the amount of people in line. I'd say give it a try see what you think, I would definitely come back read more

Lines can be long, but other than that we really like it here! They have Daya cheese for us vegans which is a big plus in my book. There is a lot of variety and everything is personal. Love it! read more

My first time eating the pizza and even though i had to get it doordashed, the pizza itself and its presentation looks awesome! Just one extra check point would be making the boxes 'open safe' during doordash deliveries so we know it's untouched. Will be ordering again soon! read more

So good! I love the pizza here and the staff. Try their canned rosé! It doesn't disappoint. I also like the outdoor seating. Perfect for a hot summer night! read more

This place is crowded!! Lunchtime and Dinnertime. I came her for the first time twice in a day and I was in line for a good 30minutes both lunchtime and dinnertime. Worth the wait. Pizza is delicious. Reminds me of Pieology! This place is near my work. I am happy that Castro Valley is starting I get more modern type foods that you can not find in San Leandro! My 7 year old son swallowed a whole pizza to himself. The workers are friendly! read more

Every time I walk in here, they welcome me so nicely but today I got welcomed and helped by Theresa. She was really nice and made me feel like all her attention was fully on me. Good Job on this hire! read more

MOD Pizza has an extremely cozy inside and outside seating, Ingredients are fresh, I feel I'm eating a garden from the fields of Italy. I turn into Alejandro Del Pierro when I come here, The workers are intuitive, super nice, and they always ask if it's your first time so they can teach you how it works and I think that's super thoughtful. I'm glad this place opened here in Castro Valley because now I don't need to drive super far for a good pizza, highly recommend for any pizza lovers! read more

Got a thin-crust pizza, the crust was soggy and undercooked. I don't like eating partially-raw dough. How hard is it to cook a thin-crust pizza until it's the right crunchy? Maybe they don't have an actual pizza oven, I don't know. Putting it in my own oven pre-heated to 425 for about 5 minutes improved it a lot, but come on. read more

Perfect spot for our family of 5! Close to home only in the village which is literally 3 minute drive/15 minute walk. I was able to enjoy pizza with the family since they offer non-diary cheese!! YAY!!! We all enjoyed the thin crust 11inch pizza. Fast service & our food was ready in like 10 minutes!! This will be our new to go pizza place for a quick delicious meal. read more

Pizzas are pretty good. They only come in a mini or 11". They have a gluten free option which is nice. I was really disappointed with the cinnamon strips and garlic strips those were litterally a waste of money. They were just thin strips of dough with garlic salt and cinnamon on top....its a good place to get a quick bite read more

Wow! This was my first time at MOD Pizza and I had an incredible first experience! The pizza was delicious and the costumer service was great! The wait was a little long, but the guy at the register offered us drinks on the house! My boyfriend and I were not expecting that, it was a very nice gesture and it really made our night! read more

If you like the conveyor belt approach to making your own sub sandwich, you can apply the same process here to your pizza.

Luigie was AMAZING he hooked the salad up. Ive never had a salad so good. He was so sweet and quick he had us in and out on a busy Monday. We will come bacl once a week for this yummy salad and the NO NAME CAKES were so delicious mmmm read more

I ordered a whole bunch of pizzas for my family the other day and they were giving me issues with their orders but the main girl that helped me (Addie/Addy I think?) was so considerate and understanding when I've had similar situations and they're rude. Plus the food was amazing and done in a timely manner non the less! Definitely going there more! read more

I've visited Mod Pizza in Castro Valley 4 times so far. The two most recent times I ordered the Phoenix pizza. The first time I was a little concerned that the only cheese it had as a light sprinkling of Asiago cheese after all the other ingredients were in place. But my concerns were unnecessary since this was one of the best pizzas I've had. I've yet to order the double crust, mostly because the thin crust is both deliciously crisp and chewy, and I'm afraid I won't like the thick as much. They also offer a smaller 6 inch pizza which is the perfect size for my 10 year old to finish in one sitting. I look forward to many future visits. read more

I drive over at 9:30pm and their doors are locked. I understand closing a few minutes early, but 30? The staff inside ignoring us was frustrating also. read more

This is proabably the greatest pizza place I've been to. The pizza tastes amazing and the customer service was really great. The manager Jesse was really kind and helped me find what I was looking for. Would definitely come again! read more

Pizza was ok, nothing spectacular. Service was adequate. The pizza station could have been a bit cleaner.

A new MOD Pizza opened in Castro Valley near my apartment so I decided to try and check it out. Never had it before, but I've had Pieology so I was expecting something similar. Figured I would give online ordering a try since I take forever to decide the toppings. Ordering was a breeze, unfortunately my pizza was not up to par. Toppings were sloppily piled on, the crust was soggy, and my "roasted" garlic ended up being large chunks of bitter charcoal that I had to pick off my entire pizza. Definitely not impressed. For now, I will be making the 15 minute drive to San Leandro Pieology when I want a custom pizza. read more

The best pizza and you can choose from a variety of all the toppings. I really like making customized pizzas based on my mood for the day and I always take my family here when we can't think of what to eat. The quality and freshness of the food combined with the customer service make it a go to pizza place for us. I recommend MOD to all my friends and family. read more

Relatively quick but understaffed. I came in around 6:30pm. I used to work in a similar establishment and I could tell the second I walked in the door that the employees are over worked. Despite that, the staff were very friendly and hard working. I got a Dylan James and it was good. One other thing is that I saw an employee leave from behind the counter and take a smoke break during a very busy time. Good food and service, but Management needs adjusting. I feel they need to work on getting more employees and relieving the workers. read more

Thank you for offering up a dairy-free option for my daughter who has a dairy allergy. That's huge for a family who loves pizza, but must also cater to an allergy. MOD is our favorite pizza in town! read more

Great pizza, they use quality ingredients and the price is definitely not bad. Very friendly staff, especially Lafayette. That guy rocks, he will load up your pizza generously. If you like quality, thin crust, oven fire pizza then Mod's is the way to go. read more

My family of 6 tried this out and we are in love with this place. The customer service has been by far the best. They were polite helpful and extremely patient. It was a bit crowded and Dylan an employee was very attentive and apologetic. He was busting his butt to make sure every customer left with a smile. I will recommend to everyone and especially when Dylan is there! Amazing. read more

I'm so tired of screwed up orders! What's wrong with the people working there?! And using their delivery option, consistently results in orders being delivered between 15-30 mins early, meaning I have to reheat the pizza. Why even offer the option of the customer choosing a delivery time, when it consistently means NOTHING? Buyers Beware! read more

Ok, it's a chain and not really somewhere you should go if you want super authentic thin crust pizza. This is somewhere you go for a quick bite to eat with your kids who are picky and want very specific toppings. I am limited on what I am able to eat, so having the option of dairy free and gluten free is a mega plus for this place. The outdoor seating is so nice for the area and perfect for your pup and fam to have a quick dinner. People who are expecting a wood fired pizza with puffy crispy crust and really oily cheese should just steer clear of this place. it's not for that. It's fast food that is better than your standard fast food. read more

Delicious pizzas, would have been a 4 star experience if it weren't for the 30 minute wait to just get through the line and pay the cashier. It's a new business so I'm sure all the inefficiencies will eventually get ironed out. Service line needs to be quicker. The dough/sauce persons could be doing more since their job is the quickest while the line tends to get clogged up with meats/veggies section. Also we noticed one person solely making boxes, when the line was 10 people deep. Maybe that could be done before the shop opens/closes. Definitely will return, hope their system becomes more efficient. Great pizzas and overall friendly service. read more

Although the sign outside claims to be really fast it wasn't so. On a couple of our pizzas they missed a few items but ok, I'll live. The ingredients were fresh but it just didn't blow me away. I was expecting more flavor on my pizza, the Phoenix which is a seasonal pizza, but it didn't impress me. My kids had a typical cheese pizza, one with olives and pepperoni and other with basil; personally to me it didn't look appetizing. My bf got a lot of ingredients and he said it was alright but he didn't make much fuss about it which tells me it wasn't anything special. All I'm saying is if you get to choose all your ingredients it's supposed to be all your favorite flavors and your gonna love it, right? Still didn't happen so I'm guessing something is just off. They also packed our pizzas to go which we wanted to eat there so when we tossed our boxes the trash got packed. Had they listened better then this would be and avoided problem that I did see was a complaint in another persons reviews. Not something that would bother me personally but cleanliness is something a food establishment should always strive for anyway. I'm just sad we (CV) didn't get a Blaze instead. I love that place! We'll see if maybe down the line they improve but for now I don't really want to go back. read more

This is an amazing place! It is a bit pricey, but they give you your moneys worth. Also the kind lady helped us with great costumer service! I definitely give this place a 5 out of 5! read more

I wanna love this location. I came during their grand opening and things moved slow, which is expected as all the employees are new and still learning the ropes. Just visited the location a second time today. Unfortunately, unlike the Alameda location, they lack speed, efficiency, and organization. read more

There is a pandemic going around if you can't learn to wear a mask properly maybe you shouldn't be working somewhere where you handle people's food. Their soft opening offered 50% off so we took advantage of it. They recommend ten of their Classic pizzas on their menu, but you can add as many toppings for the same price. Since it was their soft opening, I didn't expect perfection; the first employee did a great job explaining the ordering process. The next four didn't know what toppings went on their classic pizzas so they kept asking each other what toppings go on next or they would pass it down when ingredients were missing. The pro is the pizza comes out fast, however, the con is that the fire in the wood-fire oven only comes out on the right side so they can only cook three pizzas at a time. Come here if you like thin crust, artisan style pizzas. Some of the toppings were too bunched up, but I feel like that can be fixed after more training. Good experience overall, the staff seemed friendly, the place was clean and the pizza was tasty. read more

Could you stop blaming Corona virus for bad customer service? I came here because my daughter is vegetarian and this allows her fresh vegetables. She loves arugula and spinach. Guess what they don't have? And the reason is: due to the virus...why not say we don't want to provide as much so we save money? It can't be due to shortages because you are right next door to Safeway who happens to have both arugula and spinach! Other than that, pizza was good. Just our vegetarian had less choices. read more
