This was our first time visiting MOD pizza and I must say, I'm impressed. A couple things: Customer service - Upon walking in, they greeted us with a bright & happy "HELLO"! I'm a big fan of instantly welcoming customers, so that was a plus. Also, because it was our first time, one of the staff members noticed we were stalling on the menu and asked if we needed a breakdown of how it works. He then graciously walked us through the process, explaining how it works! That was cool! Food - The pizza was delicious! I loved that there were gluten free options, including a cauliflower crust! I got the Dillon John (aka margherita) and added chicken. My pizza was cooked to perfection and again, was bursting with flavor! Unfortunately, I don't have a pic because I was being greedy! I'm rather underwhelmed with my initial visit to Mod Pizza. I'm also surprised at the high ratings from the other reviews. Mod has the market cornered on the whole "build your own" pizza and "bake it fast" in the Bowie area, so I'm assuming people have never experienced other pizza chains with the same concept. Trust me when I say, two chains come to mind and their pizzas are much better. IJS... The evening I went, the line was extremely long, but that's understandable because it's still a new spot, but some things I noticed that just didn't sit well with me. For instance, none of the employees wore hair nets or their hair wasn't at least away from their faces. Mostly everyone had long hair swinging down, but no hair nets. Odd. The floor behind the employees needed to be swept...like three hours ago swept. It had food particles and trash just screaming for someone to sweep it up, yet I saw a few employees just standing around doing nothing during this massive rush. The cashier was doing double duty of making milkshakes and ringing customers up, which in turn, held up the line even more. It was only one person putting the pizzas in the oven and he seemed to be a bit overwhelmed by the amount of pizzas waiting to go in and to be taken out of the oven. The entire process just seemed to be a little disorganized. When I got home to eat my pizza it was rather greasy, like dropping off the crust greasy, and it had black chips of burnt pieces on the bottom of the crust. I really wasn't impressed with the flavor of the toppings or the crust either. I couldn't even enjoy it. One of the toppings was too salty, I believe it was the sausage. (I ordered the Mad Dog Pizza) I did however really enjoy my thick and frothy chocolate milkshake, that was the saving grace of this place for me. I did also appreciate the friendliness of most of the staff. What can I say, I know good pizza and to me, this didn't really fit the bill for me. I went for the big guns and got the 11in Bbq chicken pizza and customized it by adding extra cheese and spicy sausage. From the time I ordered and got the pizza it was a total of roughly 8-10mins. The pizza is cooked in a brick oven that provides a thin and crispy crust bursting in flavors. You can garnish your pizza with additional finishes such as sauce toppings or basil & arugula, etc. As a pizza lover this place gets a solid 4* from me. This has to be one of the biggest jokes ever played on Bowie Maryland. They make a point on the front doors to list the word fast, I stood behind three people for the better part of 10 minutes, just to place an order only to find out that the largest pizza you can get is 11 inches. In addition to that you're paying an incredibly high mark up. Real shame is, I've come into this place twice and sat and two lines ranging between two and three people and as many as nine, wasting a total amount of time of about 35 minutes and never placing an order? How does anybody consider this fast. It's a joke don't waste your time. So I have returned a few months later in hopes that the speedy part has changed. I got in line once more just a few steps from the entryway of the door three minutes later I had moved forward about to full body likes it was at least 10 to 15 people in front of me there was no way my order was going to get in in less than 15 minutes. I was not impressed. This place reminds me of & pizza without all the greatness that & pizza has. The set-up reminds me of Chipotle with the assembly line of toppings. Due to the fact that I am pescatarian, they did have a plethora of vegetable toppings to choose from. I opted for the Lucy and added artichoke, spinach and feta cheese. The pizza for me was just "ok". I did love how thin the crust was, however, it was nothing to write home about. Perhaps I should have built my own pizza and maybe I would have enjoyed it more. They say you never get a second chance to make a first impression, and maybe I'm in the minority, but the new MOD Pizza in Bowie didn't wow me when I tried it. Admittedly it is still new, so maybe there are some kinks to work out and things will change as the "new factor" wears off. I tried online ordering, and that, in itself was a breeze. Easy to figure out on their site and add what you want. One of the big positives of Mod Pizza is, as others have mentioned, you can add as many toppings as you want, and there is no extra charge. Their prices for pizzas are fairly reasonable (a little over $8.00 for an 11 inch pizza). One benefit of their online ordering is you pay online as well, so you can skip the counter/cash register area. As for the staff, while I didn't really get the chance to interact with any of them, the ones I saw were smiling. Onto the details - I placed my order about 7:30, and was given a pick-up time of 8:00pm. The order was for two 11" pizzas (which, depending on how hungry you are, can be one or two meals...). Anyway, when I got there (about 7:55), it was a little confusing because the door funnels you right into the cash register line. If there is signage to indicate where online orders should go, I did not see it. As I was looking around, I noticed a few people standing at the preparation/boxing end of the counter, so I decided to try my luck there. Sure enough, when I got there, one of the pizzas was up, boxed, and on the counter, but the other was nowhere to be seen. About 5 minutes later, the second one came out. I'm still not sure how two pizzas, ordered at the same time, ended up coming out at completely different times. In picking them up, it was easy to tell which one was fresh and hot, and which was cool from sitting for a bit. The pizza was decent, but not "knock your socks off". I found the dough to be what some places consider hand tossed - it was soft, chewy, and bendable - think a pizza on a slice of bread, and that is about what is was. There was no crispness to the crust. My wife actually used the word "Soggy" to describe hers. The sauce was there, but barely noticeable. The toppings were, for the most part, good and numerous - although the Roasted Garlic looked like a sliced clove, whereas we were expecting slightly smaller pieces - not pieces that were easily identifiable on the pizza, and could easily be pulled off due to the sheer number of them. I went back and forth between 2 and 3 stars on this, but due to the potential, I'll bump it up to 3. Perhaps I went at the wrong time, or perhaps it is the new factor, but I'm not overly impressed with the end result. I'll probably give them one more shot in the future, but if the crust remains bread-like (it should be slightly crisp on the outside IMO), especially with what I consider to be an average tasting base/red sauce. read more

Came to this location with my husband and kids. Different atmosphere than the one in Annapolis. The staff barely parted their lips to speak. The guy standing by the pizza oven looked like he hates every part of his job. When we asked him for the balsamic glaze he was extremely annoyed. My son wanted to ask for the glaze as well but the guy seemed so annoyed that he didn't bother to ask, and we brought my son there for his birthday! MUCH better!! Went back for a second and third visit and pizza was delicious! Great crust and toppings and cooked perfectly! Tried their salad too and it was really great as well. Glad we gave it another chance because this is our favorite pizza place here and we will be back. More along the lines of 2.75 would be a better rating for our first visit. We ordered online and, like others said, that was a waste of time. Got there and the pizza wasn't ready until almost 30 minutes AFTER our pick up time. Why offer this option if you can't manage it? The worker was apologetic and offered a free milkshake due to the wait and inconvenience. I said "I'll take chocolate as long as it's made with chocolate ice cream and NOT vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce mixed in." What is given to me? Well, of course a "chocolate" shake that is vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup partially mixed in - not blended well at all and exactly what I didn't want. I would have taken a vanilla had she said "yes, that is how we make our chocolate shake." Luckily, I didn't pay for that and didn't drink it. Now on to the pizza. The pizza is decent - well, 2 were, one wasn't. We ordered three kinds because we wanted to try one piece of each to see which we liked the best. The pizza toppings is all based on personal preference, so no need going on and on about which we picked, etc. Quality is what I'll discuss. On one of the three pizzas, the crust was burned pretty good or rather, pretty badly. I understand that burned LOOKING crust sometimes occurs with fire pit pizza - but, once it's to the point of tasting the burned taste only, it's gone too long. On this same pizza, the toppings stopped 1.5 - 2 inches from the end of the crust. So, I feel like we had mainly burned pizza crust. The other two pizzas, the crust wasn't burned at all. These issues alone, I would give them a 1 star. But, I'm going with a 2.5ish because the other two pizzas were decent. And since I can't give 2.5 on Yelp, my selection was 3 because I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt since they are newer and maybe they need to get the system down a little better. We may opt to give them one more try to see and I'll move the star rating based off that - better and I'll move it up, or worse and it'll move down. Will keep you posted. :) read more

I'm a pizza fiend so I'm always looking for a great place to eat pizza in the area and unfortunately, my choices in Prince George's County are pretty slim. So, I was extremely happy to find MOD pizza but my expectations were low based on past experiences. This place really meets the mark! Great pizza and great service- perfect combination! They allow unlimited toppings and a myriad of choices. They even offer roasted brussel sprouts. The only downside was they don't offer fresh mozzarella which would have been the perfect addition but otherwise, I really enjoyed my pizza. The concept is fairly similar to &pizza but better. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean and they offered outdoor seating. Great beverage choices also so all and all it was a win! During my next visit, I'll try the pizza salad because that looked yummy! read more
