I've been to Coal Fire Pizza once or twice before but was in the mood for some pizza & was in the Waugh Chapel area and decided to stop in. We were quickly seated at a table in the center of the restaurant, but we asked the busboy if we could be seated at a booth, and he was kind of enough to clean off a dirty table to accommodate us, and we really appreciated that gesture, as we have a one year old and booths tend to make it easier to control him. Lol. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of our visit. Our server - Camy - was extremely short with us, and we commented that it was odd but we weren't really bothered by it - just an observation. Our onion rings came out at a decent time and they were good. Roman(our Son) & I personally enjoyed the dipping sauce. There was a horseradish base that surprisingly wasn't too harsh or strong for him. My Wife didn't like them at all, but she's also not the biggest onion ring fan, so don't look too much into that - they weren't the best but they were far from the worst. From there, we waited. And, waited. Aaaaaaaaand waited. No food. My Wife was extremely hungry & asked if we should pay for the onion rings & leave but we decided to be patient and wait it out. What was strange was that Camy never visited our table once. Not to check on us. Not to acknowledge the wait. Not to see how our onion rings were - Nothing. My Wife just reminded me that she did stop by once, & refilled my Wife & daughters drink, so I do want to be fair, but afterwards, she disappeared again. In all that time. It was at least 45 mins til we got our meals & there was literally no service in between. What was really confusing was there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant so the wait didn't really make sense to us. I saw Camy servicing another table & noticed the way she was carrying her drink tray & having been in the restaurant industry commented to my Wife: "Ohhhhh, she's newer to serving. I can tell the way she's carrying the tray. She's overwhelmed. I feel better knowing we weren't just being neglected." I promise I had settled in my mind that I would give them 3 stars out of empathy alone. I'm not a mean guy & don't use these reviews to bash anyone's livelihood. My Pizza - Prosciutto Cipolla - was good. I added bacon to it and it paired really well with the prosciutto & sweetness of the sauce. My Wife was underwhelmed with her Chicken Parmesan. She thought it was dry and even attempted to put more tomato sauce on it, but she just didn't like it. The kiddos enjoyed their Chicken tenders. After an ok experience, I was still going to give 3 stars, until we paid the bill and left out. Camy was still really short with us, and seemed in a hurry. Upon leaving, and seeing the other side of the tiny restaurant, I noticed why. Camy and two other servers were seated on bar chairs laughing, talking and watching the big screen. I'm not going to lie, this was offensive to me because the service here was so poor. I tried to make excuses for her, and never, not even once, gave her a hard time or a dirty stare. But to see that we were neglected, and treated as if we weren't worthy of an attentive server grinds my gears because we're good people and deserve to be treated better when we're spending our hard earned money. We still didn't say anything to Camy or management bc we try to be as unproblematic as possible but I was sure I was going to give them 1 star on my Yelp review until I got up this morning and thought it through. I wish I got that busboys name but who knew he'd be the highlight of our experience. For as bad as Camy was and as much as we were underwhelmed with our experience at Coal Fire, that young man does not deserve 1 star. I wish his counterparts cared about pleasing their customers as much as he did.

Usually when I get coal fire it's take out before I go into work (the crab pizza and grilled Caesar salad). But today I sat down with the kid. The staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered everything at the same time, and my drink came from the bar quickly. The butterscotch old fashioned was pretty good, but I didn't taste the butterscotch in it (my whole point of ordering it was to taste that). The wings and salad came out next. The wings were jumbo, and crispy. I really liked that. The ranch was a little watered down but the wings almost didn't even need it. The salad was just a salad. They offer a grilled romaine Caesar salad that's really good, I'll get that on the next visit. Next the star of the Evening came out. I dont eat pork anymore, so I didn't taste it but the pizza looked amazing. It was full of pepperoni and Italian sausage, the spicy pizza sauce, and thin crispy crust. My son LOVED it. It literally made me want to go back and order a pizza for myself. Lol. My ribeye was nice and cheesy, the meat wasn't dried out, and it had a nice steak flavor. It needed a little more sauce, so I saved half for when I got home, which was still good when I heated it back up (and added some more toppings & condiments...lol) . My only gripe is that most of the tables are close (it's not a big spot), so it gets a lot loud if it's packed in there. But I'm giving my overall experience a 8.5/10 I'll continue to support this establishment.

Had a pizza delivered not even 15 minutes ago. It was delivered from Door Dash. I called after ordering and asked could they seal the box before sending it out for a door dash delivery. The man on the phone asked for my name and also said we always seal it prior to delivering from door dash. I said thank you. Needless to say, the pizza came not sealed so it could not be eaten. Who knows what was done to the pizza prior to dropping it off. I want a refund. I am not eating that pizza. It's not safe and their safety measures were not taken.

Picked up food here before hitting a local brewery. Ordering was quick and ready. Food was ready when we arrived. Got a sausage pizza and mozzarella sticks. A solid pizza. Nothing to write home about but solid. The marinara for the mozz sticks was very tasty. Definitely leftovers. The place was busy on a Saturday evening which is good to see.

Negative ghost rider for pizza. We ordered 3. Cheese, BBQ, and the prosciutto. None had any distinct taste nor flavor. Barely any cheese. It honestly tasted like a Red Barron pizza. Definitely go to Mod pizza before here. Staff was nice/friendly. My .02.

So: I passionately enjoyed my dinner at Mamma Roma. The reason that this is unusual is because I'm…read morenot big on going out for Italian food much at restaurants - other than on holidays - since I eat so much Italian food at home. I can make an exception for more casual Italian meals at only a handful of Italian restaurants, and Mamma Roma's is now one. Growing up partially Italian, and a mix of other ethnicities, my family cooks Italian better, of course, than at any restaurant. No one made better Italian dinners than my Na-na (grandmother). But Momma Roma's hummus cream rigatoni could definitely keep me coming back for more. No one made better meatballs than my Mom but the meatballs at Mamma Roma's are flavorful enough. No one made better sauce than my Aunt #1 but the sauce on Momma Roma's ravioli was good and so fresh. And no one made better cookies than my Aunt #2, but Momma Roma's cannolis and rum cookies are tasty. There are a lot of Italian restaurants in the area and I've read that Mamma Roma's is one of, if not, the best. I can only say that while my first visit here a decade ago was fine, this visit goes into my memory as "need to get back there, eventually, if not sooner," after delighting in their new menu item: a creamy hummus rigatoni with sausage. I love hummus, though wasn't really sure if the texture of hummus sauce would be too gritty. It was not. It had a lovely, substantial flavor and silky texture that was balanced well by the impeccably-cooked al dente rigatoni. Add to that the garlic, cream, sausage and herbs in this dish and you've got a winner. I highly recommend this rigatoni, of the 3 rigatoni entrees on Mamma Roma's menu. I haven't even tried the other rigatoni dishes, but still ... don't miss this creamy, garlicky hummus dinner. And the portions of rigatoni in this dish were very generous. The presentation of the lasagna was impressive, in layering and shape. I only had a bite. It had a nice flavor, but I would have needed more bites to give a better description. And since it wasn't my order, I could not indulge. The portion was generous. Also, I would never order lasagna from any restaurant given the reasons cited earlier, but this one was good. I hope someone is laughing because anyone who has grown up in a subcultural group in the US usually sounds exactly like me about the home-cooking they grew up on. Another of Mamma Roma's menu items I'd like to try is their corn and arugula white pizza. I've only found one lovely corn pizza ever at Zelo's in an LA suburb, so now that I have seen this on their menu my curiosity is piqued. Love love love the variety of the dessert menu options. It's not just the desserts in the case on display that you can order. While there are gorgeous cookies on display, the dessert menu has a long, lovely list of all kinds of variations of cheesecakes and cakes. I would like to try the lemon cake on a return visit. And more of the cookie flavors! When I asked the barista what the top desserts were, he was quick to name the cannoli as a first. You'd probably be surprised to find out that this is a counter service approach: you order and pay up at the front and the waiter brings you your food and whatever else you need. You get your own fountain drinks or tea with ice. You can tip in advance, in good faith, when you order in the beginning or you can leave cash on the table at the end of the meal, having already paid your bill in the beginning. There is also the charming dessert counter/bar and espresso area that I mentioned earlier. So, when you are finished with your lunch or dinner, you can go to the barista's counter and order dessert and cappuccino. I love that if you order cake or a cannoli, a cappuccino is only $2. This is an awesome value especially for the evening crowd. For old school Anne Arundel county and Annapolis locals, Mamma Roma's is better than the original Squisito's pizza -- and higher in quality -- but it is a bit reminiscent of that restaurant in terms of popularity and a family feel. Plus, I have never tried the pizza here, but I'm guessing it's good given the quality of the ingredients and preparations we experienced with the pasta dishes. One thing that also really stands out about Mamma Roma's is that they are the only Italian restaurant that is nestled back in the suburban Piney Orchard division of Gambrills. In other words, it's more neighborly there vs. other restaurants along the majorly-trafficked Route 3 corridor. The restaurants along Route 3 have many more transients coming in, given the ease of access, so they are naturally less neighborly. Finally, when we brought our leftovers from dinner home I set them on the kitchen table and left them for a bit. When I came back into our kitchen, it was filled with such delicious aromas! Friends, this is just how fresh the food at Mamma Roma's is. For a casual, counter service suburban, it is quite bellissima!

Unfamiliar with the area, I jumped on yelp and found The Farmhouse with its 4.4 star rating. So there we went. The Waugh Chapel area is a giant shopping center. Wegmans, Old Navy, Verizon, etc. The Farmhouse is in a new building near the man road. Their whole thing is farm to fork, with some herbs and greens grown on site and others sourced locally. The service is great! Fast and friendly. Instead of bread or rolls, they warm you up with some country style homemade cornbread. Freshly baked, cast iron skillet, with butter and syrup. Yum! We had the meatloaf and the chicken and chicken and biscuits. The meatloaf was tasty, with homemade mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked fresh green beans. The chicken and biscuits is kind of like a chicken pot pie without the crust. The biscuits are on top so you can decide how much bread you want. The vegetables are nice and fresh, and the chicken is perfect white meat. A++ on both entrees. For dessert we had half-baked, which is an ooey gooey cookie and a brownie in a cast iron skillet topped with ice cream. We liked it, but next time I'll probably have just ice cream because the ice cream was absolutely perfect. Where are you? Stevensville? Baltimore? Solomon's? Alexandria? DC? When we arrived, our table appeared to be ready right at our reservation time, but we still had to wait to be seated. It wasn't a long delay, but it was a bit confusing and felt like a service issue. The ambience is beautiful and well done, and the bathrooms were clean. The food itself was solid across the board, and the chicken and biscuit was actually even better the next day as leftovers. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest drawback. Refills only happened when we asked, and splitting checks for a large group was more difficult than expected. At one point when a correction was needed, a member of our party noticed the server visibly rolling her eyes, which didn't help the experience. Drinks are also served by the can rather than fountain style, which made them feel overpriced without refills. For a place that presents as upscale, the experience shouldn't feel nickel-and-dimed. Overall, nice atmosphere and good food, but the service needs improvement before I'd consider returning.

Well, fast forward to 2025. We are getting ready to move back to IL in June. We went to 3 Brother's (5 miles away from our house) today. It came up in a search for "fish sandwiches". Indeed they have one on the special menu, but being suspicious of haddock, neither of us got one. I'm not saying that haddock are a particularly dodgy animal, I just have never found it to be quite as tasty as the rest of the fish eating world seems to think it is. My wife got a turkey club sub and fries, I got an Italian combination sub and onion rings. We were both satisfied with our order. The fries were very good, but she did have onion ring envy. They were quite good, they were real, and the onion was tender enough that you could bite it without pulling out the whole onion. That, pulling out the onion, is about the most disappointing food happening you can imagine. She was impressed with the bacon in her sub, it was real, actual cooked bacon, crisp and complimented the sandwich. My Italian was well balanced, a little ham heavy, but satisfying and well dressed. Minor nitpick "complaints". The rolls are quite fluffy, so the overall fit of the sandwich for a bite is a bit challenging. [a first world problem, I get it]. The meats on both of our subs were a bit too cold. A 30 second microwave zap wouldn't be a bad kitchen confidential trick to add to their prep. The service was fine, we ordered at the counter and sat and talked for a bit, enjoyed each others company. We propably don't do that often enough. We tend to eat our meals in our separate chairs in the living room, in front of TV or a phone in the hand. Perhaps in our golden years we will sit across from each other a bit more often. I hope so. We will certainly make an effort to come back to 3 Brothers at least once more before we leave Maryland. I read a bunch of the lower rated reviews, and I guess those kinds of people find something wrong with everything they experience. We enjoyed the lunch out, the place was clean, the people pleasant, the food tasty and timely.
