Deluxe Salad is small for the price charged!

New pizza place in town. This was our second visit (first mobile order via the app). Personal sized thin crust pizza that's floppy like NY style. We like the Mad Dog for all the meat. You can add on any toppings. Their salads are pricey and not very good. We tried the salad with chicken and salami. On the small side with bitter tasting mixed greens. The mobile app works well. My hubby placed the order with specific ingredients to our liking. We picked up our order 20 minutes later. It was ready right on time.

We ordered take-out from MOD Pizza recently, and I'm glad we could find a make-your-own pizza place that offers dairy free cheese. We ordered two regular sized pizza, which were good and stayed warm. However, the cheese/sauce/toppings were relatively sparce compared to chain pizza places. The amount of cheese on the pizzas was quite low, and I'm not sure if this is because of the dairy free cheese choice. However, pizzas were done quickly and affordable.

MOD Pizza has been in are area for a while now and I'm just now experiencing how delicious their handcrafted pizza's can be. Their menu has fun pizza's with a number of different crusts, toppings and drizzles. If you have your own interesting concoction in mind, you can create your own pizza. We opted for a few of their classics. When ordering, be sure to look at their menu carefully. In our case, my mom ordered a pizza without a sauce, because she expected it would be on there, but the list of ingrediants didn't mention it, so that was our bad! And don't be afraid to go outside your comfort zone and experiment with a new taste! The pizza's were really tasty and I'd 100% go back. They're small individual pizza's, so keep that in mine when ordering. Next time I go, I hope to try one with their cauliflower crust. Their curbside delivery was smooth and flawless. In minutes of pulling up, we had our pizzas. The parking lot is a bit narrow, but all those Randall road strip mall islands seem to have parking like that. Overall, I would go back in a heartbeat. Everything was really good!

Ordered 2 pizzas and cheesy bread. One pizza was missing. Pizza that was received was burnt/charred. Cheesy bread was also burnt on the bottom and so overcooked it was inedible.

Honestly not sure why this place ever had hype. Dough is barely cooked. Unfortunately not impressed at all.

It has that true mom-and-pop, local favorite feel that makes you want to keep coming back. Being located right in downtown Cary gives it even more character. The deep dish pizza is fantastic, with a really interesting twist of hot honey that takes it to another level. It's different in the best way. If you're planning to dine in, make sure you give yourself plenty of time. The line for a table can get long, but the staff works incredibly hard to seat everyone as quickly as possible. If you're in more of a rush, I'd definitely recommend carryout--it's absolutely worth the wait either way. A true local gem.

I had a long commute home, so I left it uncut. It smelled so good, I wish I could have had a piece in the ride home. When we finally made it home after his long bus ride, I cut it and heated up a few slices at 250 in the oven. It was delicious....it would certainly be better fresh. Super crispy crust, sweet sauce without the typical tomato chunks like Lou's would be. Excellent cheese pulls and really flavorful when all the notes are combined. (About $23) The signage is not the best at night, so know it's attached to a meat store, deli like. Once I figure it out I went in to wait. The place was packed at 7:30 on a Wednesday. The bar is in the center left, with the to go pick up at one side. The tables flank all 180 degrees of the bar. Lots of people. Worth the hype, excited for the next 3.5 years of my son playing Cary Grove so we can try the Uncle Jerry's hot pepperoni pizza and the spinach as well. Check them out!

The suburbs don't usually inspire much confidence when someone tells you they're taking you out for…read morepizza. More often than not, you're looking at another tavern-cut pie, a dozen televisions screaming sports highlights, and a menu designed by committee. Safe. Predictable. Forgettable. Then there's Woodfire. I ended up here with my family celebrating my son's second birthday and was immediately reminded that every now and then, hidden among the endless strip malls and chain restaurants of the Chicago suburbs, you'll stumble across a place that actually gives a damn. The Vodka Pizza arrived looking almost too good to touch. Almost. Hot Calabrian vodka sauce. Fresh mozzarella. Shallot. Pepperoni. Ricotta. Basil. A combination that sounds familiar enough until that first bite lands and the heat punches through. Not the fake, watered-down, suburban version of spicy that restaurants use to avoid frightening anyone. This pizza has conviction. It has backbone. The Calabrian peppers make their presence known immediately and refuse to apologize for it. Good. Food should have an opinion. The crust, charred, blistered, beautifully imperfect, comes from house-made dough cooked in a wood-fired oven that sits like the beating heart of the restaurant. Every pie carries those little marks of fire that remind you an actual human being made it. Not a conveyor belt. Not a timer. Fire. Flour. Skill. And speaking of things that deserve respect, let's talk about the bar. Kevin has become something of a local legend in Dundee. The kind of bartender whose name gets mentioned before the cocktail list. The kind of guy who understands that making drinks isn't about pouring alcohol into a glass. It's hospitality, theater, craftsmanship, and just enough mischief to keep things interesting. Still chasing the heat from the pizza, I ordered the Spicy Flamingo. A dangerous drink. Sweet enough to invite you in. Spicy enough to keep you paying attention. The kind of cocktail that disappears faster than you intended and leaves you contemplating a second before the first one is gone. Around us, bussers moved through the dining room like a pit crew at Daytona. Tables were cleaned before they looked dirty. Empty glasses vanished. New guests were seated. The machine never stopped moving. Then there's Chef Mason. It's obvious someone in that kitchen understands the difference between cooking food and feeding people. There's technique here. Knowledge. Discipline. But thankfully none of the self-important nonsense that infects so many restaurants once they start believing their own press. Woodfire isn't trying to change your life. It's not trying to educate you. It's not trying to be the coolest restaurant in the room. Like Ferris Bueller, it understands that life moves pretty fast. So instead of chasing trends, it focuses on making exceptional handmade pizza, memorable pasta, serious cocktails, and creating a place where people actually want to spend an evening. In a world full of restaurants desperately trying to be something, Woodfire succeeds by simply being exactly what it is. And that's a hell of a lot rarer than it should be.
