Visited tonight and really enjoyed our visit. Was sad to find out that they don't have peanuts on the table anymore as that is always a fun treat. We had a mule and a glass of sangria. The sangria was really tasty and friend loved the mule but said it was very feisty! We shared a thin crust pizza and it was delicious. They use cornmeal on the bottom of the crust which is something I really like! Service was friendly and prompt and we fed y feel rushed out at all. I'd go back for that pizza for sure! read more

Pizza was tasty and always is. This is our go to spot on Friday nights Tonight the bar service was terrible! Our drinks went empty for a LONG time...server 101, sell liquor as, in theory, it should increase the bill and your tip. Other tables were checked on, it's easy to walk past a table and see empty bottles of beer. We decided to not order another and just go home. I honestly went back and forth on giving a 2 or 3 star review for this place, quite honestly it is a 2.5. Service was good so gave them the 3. I walked in and had high expectations from reviews/pictures I had read/saw. Building was nice, plenty of seating and a friendly staff. But unfortunately thats where things went a little south. We got 2 small 9 inch pizzas for myself and the wife. I did my usual half sausage/half pepperoni (a good way to judge a pizza place imo), and my wife did some sacreligious bbq pizza concoction. We also ordered some cheese breadsticks. Pizza was a very thin crust (which normally I enjoy alot), but unfortunately the crust was lacking in flavor. I was also disappointed in the sausage, it didnt seem homemade, and just the standard foodservice grade sausage. Cheesesticks were meh, overall not much reason to come back here as we have had better pizza from a few places in the Elgin area. Stopped for dinner last Friday. Nice atmosphere. Took a while to be seated as did not have reservations but was able to hang in the bar and had one of the largest draft beers I have had in my life. Waitress was very nice and food came out fast and hot. Tasty thin pizza but ingredients were not as plentiful as most other places though prices were lower. read more

Went here to attend an event and had an opportunity to try out many of their different styles of pizza. I overall found the pizza to be fairly standard for what I'd expect to find in a pub - filling, a bit salty, and filled with plenty of toppings. I found the crust to be fairly flavorful, with a good consistency to support the toppings though I would've preferred maybe if it was either a bit more crispy or soft, instead of the in-between texture. I like how the cheese was browned slightly and provided in a relatively thick layer. The sauce was alright in the pizza, I would've preferred a little more inside for a better crust/sauce/cheese ratio for a more balanced bite. The service is friendly and fairly quick here, despite it being fairly busy. The restaurant itself is also impressively spacious and decorated quite nicely. Overall, this is a solid place to enjoy a pizza if you're in the area. read more

Good pizza, good service and generous beers for the money (24 ounce I think). The wife and I have been here a couple of times killing time on the way to visit family way out here. There are dead animals mounted on the walls and animal sculptures. decor certainly is interesting. We most recently had the Mexican (with cauliflower critter) and Margherita pizzas. Both were good. The cauliflower crust is good. Not a huge difference between it and the standard crust. read more

Friday night, main event Mike Tyson vs Jay Paul. Crowded early, patrons now scarce after 8:00 pm. Bartender Matt (who has a lovely personality and the regulars love) was unable to keep up. Luke warm pizza and a large bar unkept and underserved. Thank goodness for the lone ling haired brunette female staffer who took our food order and got us beverages quickly. Village pizza is normally a destination drive...not tonight. Sure hope this isn't the norm, or business will suffer. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Got the buffet for lunch, and all of the food was cold and had been sitting for an hour. Asked the waitress if they could replenish the buffet station with fresh food, and she said no, the buffet is ending soon anyway. Village Pizza & Pub is a great place to go for bar trivia. We went there for their annual Christmas pub trivia game. The restaurant provided pizzas and soft drinks (alcoholic drinks were not on the house) for the trivia participants. I think that this is a great way to show appreciation for the many regular trivia players. The trivia was fun and the pizzas hit the spot. The servers that waited on the area were great. They worked hard to make sure that everyone was well taken care of. The restaurant was wonderfully decorated for the holidays. After the trivia game, there was a white elephant gift exchange that went past the closing time. A fun time was had by all. I will make sure to go back next year and may stop back for trivia if I'm in the area as well. read more

Today was our first time eating here. Because we heard about how good the food was here, we heard it on talk radio WRMN 1410AM in Elgin, Il. We started off with soup and Mac-and-cheese sticks for appetizers and then ordered individual 9 inch pizzas. Really good food and very good service by Jen. Another update. If I could give zero stars I would. I have given great reviews on this place when warranted. They are just not consistent. One time you will go there and the pizza is excellent. On a recent visit it was awful. Hardly any onions on the pizza which is one of our toppings. The pizza seemed to be sitting a while. The red sauce was of a very thick foamy consistency. The pizza was BLAND BIG TIME!! Come on guys train your cooks...CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS. I can't recommend this place to my friends when you serve terrible food like. The ambiance is like an old lodge with lots of taxidermied creatures. Thankfully, those animals aren't terribly close to the tables. The pizza itself is just okay. I made a mistake and gave Tues. for pick up for their family not Wed. and Leah was kind enough to say, " no problem we can switch the order for you with no question and she was so so very helpful and nice(she could have charged me again!) ! The restaurant gave the Grubhub driver the wrong pizza. She was already halfway to our house. She had to turn around and get the right one and deliver. I tried cancelling the order but Grubhub said they couldn't because it was still in the delivery window when I called them. The pizza finally arrived. It was so dry from sitting under the heat lamps. Always thought the best interior/atmosphere was really cool here. The first time we went, I was not a big fan of the pizza. It was the sauce...too sweet. We recently ordered take out to give it another shot. It was actually really really good! I was pretty surprised so they must have changed their recipe. I wanted to try a new spot so my husband and I went for lunch and had to wait to be seated since there was no hostess at the entrance...not a big deal except I witnessed an older couple leave as they waited for a good 2 minutes to be acknowledged by someone to seat them. It's a cool place except I did see a good amount of spiderwebs on the decor in multiple places which I don't enjoy seeing at a restaurant I'm about to eat at...left me with a dirty vibe. We also never received silverware. Service was lacking. Our waitress brought us our check and a to-go box even though we didn't ask for it, left us feeling rushed to leave. She also started clearing our table before we were done. Food was mediocre at best. Definitely will not be back, regretted our decision not to go to Moretti's around the corner. Attended a post -season golf holiday party on December 14th about 30 senior guys. Nice room off the main buffet area Salad bar was fresh and delicious with ample choices Fried chicken was excellent not oily or greasy Pizza was great too -great tasting sauce and sufficient cheese. Village Pizza is by far the best pizza ever. I have been eating Village Pizza since they opened the carry out location in Carpentersville back in 1978. I remember from the time opened my mom ordered pizza every Saturday night from Village. What a great memory. My favorite is just the simple Thin Crust Cheese and Sausage. The Village Special is really good too if you like the mushrooms, onion, and green pepper added to the sausage. If you like thicker crust, the Double Decker is pretty awesome too. I can't comment on any of the other food items. They do look good passing our table when we dine in, but I go to Village Pizza for the Pizza. There are times we'll get an appetizer, but it's usually fried mushrooms or poppers that are just frozen from a bag that everybody carries. Again in my opinion, Village Pizza is by far the best pizza ever. read more
