I really wanted to like this place. I order online but the system was acting weird so it wouldn't allow me to make an account and add my email. It still took my order but I had no confirmation and felt like I was going in blind. I placed the order and it said it would be ready in 1 hr 15 min. I ordered $100 worth of pizza including the pan pizza. I knew it would take longer because the menu said so. Went to pick up. Customer service wasn't even average. The young girl working was miserable. No hi, how are you, smile, or customer service period. Just hit me with the old, what's the name on the order. I told her and she says it's going to be an additional 25 min. Was not happy to hear considering the weather was getting worse outside and I had 6 other people waiting on me for dinner. I waited inside an additional 35 minutes until the order was finally done. I understand it was a Saturday night and football was on, but, like another Yelper posted below, let the customer know ahead of time. Have the system update and let folks know it will be a longer wait. While I was waiting for the order, someone called in asking where their pizza was. There was confusion amongst the staff and the customer on phone was told the driver was finally on the way. That explained a lot right there. Seems this is a common issue. The pizza was not correct as ordered. Ended up with different toppings than what we had originally ordered but everyone had waited 2 hours to eat so we just ate it. The pizza is OK. A friend recommended this place and honestly, there's so many better choices in the Chicagoland area. I don't think I'll be back! If you do order- beware of wait times! read more

Ok look, the pizza is great here. I can't complain. The issue is when they get busy on a Friday's, the 1 hour wait is a 2 hour wait, so plan for it. They work very hard to keep up with all of the orders coming in. So,"Hats off" to them. I would only recommend they do drills during down time. From the time an order is called in, to the time it is placed in that warmer. There should be a calculation for this time during a very bust time. Then have your team stick to it. If they do we'll for the weekend, they should be granted 2 free pizzas at anytime during a week span. Employee morale will go up. They will work hard for you. Be honest with the customer. If its 2 hours, tell them just that. Let them choose. As for me and my house, we love your pizza, and will order it as often as possible. read more

White cottage was good, but don't order from grub hub. They submitted my entire order wrong to white cottage and then when they delivered it the cheese slid over to one side of the pizza and they left my pizza outside without notifying me they did that. The delivery instructions clearly said hand food to me the notifications are on, but they didn't let me know my food was delivered until the pizza was just about room temperature. read more

She read my order back to me incorrectly, and after I alerted her of her error, she pretty much dismissed me and rushed for the credit card info. Fast forward, when I received the pizza delivery it was incorrect, so I had to call and have them remake it. I thought I would give it a second chance and order a pizza today only to find the same young, unprofessional, rude, no etiquette girl on the phone. Who was extremely short in her attitude yet again. It is service people like this that makes your business lose money. I will say that the pizza is just OK. The Elgin has no comparison to other White Cottage locations. The service when ordering over the phone is horrible. If she can't handle taking food orders, then she's in the wrong business. Based on other reviews, I am not the only customer to have an issue with the service of the girl who answers the phone. What does that tell you? I will not be a returning customer after this. We have been ordering food from White Cottage in Elgin, IL. for years. Always pleased. All of a sudden, nothing but problems. about a year ago things were going wrong. Pizza deliveries bring the wrong pizzas or the pizza was awful. Constant problems with orders. So we said no more and we gave up. Then we said we're gonna try again. SAME THINGS. Tonight topped all! Ordered fettucine, chicken, broccoli which is always very good. guess they forgot how to make it! received it with no oil or butter or garlic. Definitely tasted like water! Totally disappointed and pissed is an understatement! Went from a 4 to a 1 star and would have given it zero stars if possible. I really like pizza but rarely eat it because of health issues. Today, I decided to treat myself and out of the many pizza places in the Elgin that had to pass to get here, I chose here and got my feelings hurt. Yes the quality of that pizza hurt my feelings not to mention a complete waste of a cheat day and my money. I want my money, cheat day, time and high expectations back. I ordered cheese, sausage and mushrooms. For some reason, the website obviously didn't capture my extra toppings and I didn't notice it until I got home with a cheese pizza. I was disappointed but really didn't need the meat anyway. I figured I would throw a couple of olives on it and enjoy it anyhow. Boy was I wrong. The pizza was barely lukewarm even though I had the heat on in the car. Honestly, it didn't look like a pizza that had just come out of the oven but I have no way to prove it so I don't want to make an accusation. It was however an observation. The worst part is that the pizza was horrible; completely tasteless. It was basically crust and cheese with a hint of pizza sauce which I couldn't even taste not even olives and a good nuke in the microwave could liven up the lukewarm and dry poor excuse of a pizza. I ate a few slices because I had spent my money but half of it is going in the garbage. I'm taken back because I know they can and have done better. I use to go here for slices quite regularly and that was just a few months ago. The slices were always delicious with a tasty sauce that was proportionate to the crust and cheese. What happened? The slices were fresher even sitting in the case under the lamp for longer periods than the pizza I ordered tonight. Whether today was a fluke or one off-er, they don't have to worry about me returning. I have better things to do with my money. Also when order online, there's no option to pay at restaurant which means you have to pay by credit card and probably charge you that 3.5% penalty for not paying cash like they do when you walk in. Total was almost $50 after tax and $2 discount from ordering though Eat 24. The pizzas and mozzarella sticks were ok, nothing special. The fries were not good, didn't look fresh and flavorless. I don't use the word "love" lightly so when I say, my family and I "love" WCP's thin crust pizza, you can take that to mean their pizza is a superior product in taste, appearance and the quality of its ingredients. When, in an attempt to save money, others are cutting back on the quality and quantity of their ingredients, WCP is uncompromising! They've always been generous with their ingredients, their cheese in particular, but now in our current economy, their superiority sets a new bar. Of their 3 locations, Elgin is closest to me and is the only location I've ever ordered from. Since I've only ordered my pizza for delivery, I can't speak to the ambiance of the dine in experience but what I can tell you is this, from the phone order to delivery, the Elgin staff has always been polite, respectful and friendly. They've NEVER screwed up my order, forgotten a coupon discount or been late with a delivery. They are honest and accurate when they quote the estimated time for delivery and my pizza always arrives hot. WCP has a loyal customer in me! read more

I've ordered delivery from them a few times and had their pizza by the slice too. Huge slice for around $3, a ton of cheese and sausage. If you're not a fan of fennel, then you probably won't like their sausage. Their crust is a bready/doughy type rather than a buttery, pie-crust type. Crispy underside, which is great since I hate soggy pizza. I haven't tried their stuffed but I've tried their pepperoni pizza, buffalo chicken ranch pizza (not a fan of this), fried mushrooms, philly cheese steak, bbq wings. We ordered (delivery) from White Cottage on a Saturday night and were pleasantly surprised. Décor: n/a Staff: The person taking the orders on the phone was only half-paying attention, as I had to repeat the order several times, but it arrived correctly so I guess it isn't a big deal. The delivery was also rather prompt; I wouldn't say "incredibly fast" but it was satisfactory. Food: We ordered two large pizzas for four guys and, upon arrival, felt like we under-ordered. However, the pizzas were pretty hearty! Even though they were thin crust they packed a punch and filled us up (we didn't even end up finishing both of them and we all eat more than our fair share). The pizza arrived warm/hot and ready to eat. The taste was very enjoyable and the toppings were generous. There wasn't any crushed red pepper or accoutrements but, then again, we didn't ask for any... Value: The two pizzas were pretty pricey in the end. Add on a delivery tip and it was a pretty expensive meal all things considered. However, "local" pizza places like this seem to all charge about the same (what I would consider "high") prices so I was prepared. Overall I'd like to see the prices a bit lower - doing so would guarantee my return business. We enjoyed our pizzas very much and I would order from them again in the future. I think this place makes one of the best thin crust pizzas I've had in a while(years). My supervisor bought some pizzas from White Castle for the staff and it was my first time tasting it. I was hooked! I have yet to experience any negative service and am very pleased with the customer service so far. I honestly don't know why we order from this place. Just about every time we order from here they get it wrong. Here are three of the most recent. 1. Ordered a large pizza with sausage and pepperoni, we got bacon and pineapple. 2. Ordered pasta with broccoli and chicken, we got broccoli and shrimp. 3. And the latest is we ordered 2 pizzas with pepperoni and got just cheese. I mean seriously. It was ONE topping. How do you mess that up And when you call to tell them, they offer you a credit that magically disappears. So we stopped saying we'll take the credit and have told them to bring the correct order. And every time they say "well, we're going to need the other one back " in a tone that is just rude. Go ahead and take it back. It's not what I paid for anyways And to top it off, when you order a b extra large be prepared to see the rest of the world's medium. We've been ordering here for years. At least 1 to 2 times a week, and we've lived here now for 12 years. We've never had issues with ordering like so many. We've never had issues with the person on the phone (the girl mentioned in other posts), We've never had delivery issues (the driver actually knows us), and if we go pick up, we never have issues with that same girl behind the counter... And it's always good. Definitely higher quality pizza with better ingredients. A lot of cheese for the dollar. We always order the same thing, so it's not like we make it difficult for them. Sometimes I wonder when people make complaints about a particular businesses "service" that it's not them... It's YOU! They can't say that, but I will. read more

When I called to let them know that we may have been given someone else's pizza, they told me that I messed up ordering online and that they did not mess up. Excellent pizza. Surprised about the poor reviews. Guy on the phone was spotty but I got exactly what I wanted and was delivered fast. Don't skip this one give them a try. Bottom line the pizza is GREAT and I'm a bit of an expert having managed many busy pizza shops in the Chicago area. Delicious FLAVOR! Crispy crust, no burnt edges, cooked not too much but just enough. Very generous toppings (cheese and sausage, my choice), perhaps a bit too much cheese and sausage actually but one can always ask for "easy" topping. Don't forget folks it pays in life to ask for what you want, it often works out. I did ask for extra sauce not knowing how much they use here and it was exactly what I like, not swimming but enough spread across the pie to give flavor. Glad we finally tried this mom and pop in our area because it's outstanding. I will be ordering again. Looking closer a lot of the bad reviews are re: price or service. This is the price one pays now for this kind of quality in this part of the USA. It is not overly expensive. Same price and definitely at least twice the weight as the (also excellent Flavorful tasty pizza I like) @ n_icks up the street. 3-4 people could be well fed on a 14" here. As for the service having been in the biz I know personally how difficult it has become to get even adequate help. I would forgive some transgressions in this area folks (my service was fine, the phone guy could have been better..) as the bottle line is the pizza is better than the other 5 or 6 local mom and pop types I've tried around this area in Elgin. Also the: delivery times expect 45-60 minutes for a great pizza cooked in a "real" pizza oven. It's worth the wait for a quality product. Again EXCELLENT pizza! read more

This was my time ordering, I had the antipasto salad w/bacon, others had the individual BBQ chicken meal, w/fries and a cheese burger was also ordered. It was alright, but I'm not sure why they would give ranch dressing w/that kind of salad, did not compliment. Probably will order again but for pizza. read more
