One of my favorite pizza joints in the burbs, always fantastic customer service and delicious food, pizza is great but we try different menu items all the time and have yet to be disappointed. They are always super fast and the food travels really well! Don't sleep on white cottage if you're in the area!

Totally disappointed and pissed is an understatement! Went from a 4 to a 1 star and would have given it zero stars if possible. I really like pizza but rarely eat it because of health issues. Today, I decided to treat myself and out of the many pizza places in the Elgin that had to pass to get here, I chose here and got my feelings hurt. Yes the quality of that pizza hurt my feelings not to mention a complete waste of a cheat day and my money. I want my money, cheat day, time and high expectations back. I ordered cheese, sausage and mushrooms. For some reason, the website obviously didn't capture my extra toppings and I didn't notice it until I got home with a cheese pizza. I was disappointed but really didn't need the meat anyway. I figured I would throw a couple of olives on it and enjoy it anyhow. Boy was I wrong. The pizza was barely lukewarm even though I had the heat on in the car. Honestly, it didn't look like a pizza that had just come out of the oven but I have no way to prove it so I don't want to make an accusation. It was however an observation. The worst part is that the pizza was horrible; completely tasteless. It was basically crust and cheese with a hint of pizza sauce which I couldn't even taste not even olives and a good nuke in the microwave could liven up the lukewarm and dry poor excuse of a pizza. I ate a few slices because I had spent my money but half of it is going in the garbage. I'm taken back because I know they can and have done better. I use to go here for slices quite regularly and that was just a few months ago. The slices were always delicious with a tasty sauce that was proportionate to the crust and cheese. What happened? The slices were fresher even sitting in the case under the lamp for longer periods than the pizza I ordered tonight. Whether today was a fluke or one off-er, they don't have to worry about me returning. I have better things to do with my money. Also when order online, there's no option to pay at restaurant which means you have to pay by credit card and probably charge you that 3.5% penalty for not paying cash like they do when you walk in. Where is the pizza police when you need them? If you see them, send here. See pics below.

Our go-to pizza place. It's where we get pizza to show out of town guests what Chicago pizza can be like.

The suburbs don't usually inspire much confidence when someone tells you they're taking you out for…read morepizza. More often than not, you're looking at another tavern-cut pie, a dozen televisions screaming sports highlights, and a menu designed by committee. Safe. Predictable. Forgettable. Then there's Woodfire. I ended up here with my family celebrating my son's second birthday and was immediately reminded that every now and then, hidden among the endless strip malls and chain restaurants of the Chicago suburbs, you'll stumble across a place that actually gives a damn. The Vodka Pizza arrived looking almost too good to touch. Almost. Hot Calabrian vodka sauce. Fresh mozzarella. Shallot. Pepperoni. Ricotta. Basil. A combination that sounds familiar enough until that first bite lands and the heat punches through. Not the fake, watered-down, suburban version of spicy that restaurants use to avoid frightening anyone. This pizza has conviction. It has backbone. The Calabrian peppers make their presence known immediately and refuse to apologize for it. Good. Food should have an opinion. The crust, charred, blistered, beautifully imperfect, comes from house-made dough cooked in a wood-fired oven that sits like the beating heart of the restaurant. Every pie carries those little marks of fire that remind you an actual human being made it. Not a conveyor belt. Not a timer. Fire. Flour. Skill. And speaking of things that deserve respect, let's talk about the bar. Kevin has become something of a local legend in Dundee. The kind of bartender whose name gets mentioned before the cocktail list. The kind of guy who understands that making drinks isn't about pouring alcohol into a glass. It's hospitality, theater, craftsmanship, and just enough mischief to keep things interesting. Still chasing the heat from the pizza, I ordered the Spicy Flamingo. A dangerous drink. Sweet enough to invite you in. Spicy enough to keep you paying attention. The kind of cocktail that disappears faster than you intended and leaves you contemplating a second before the first one is gone. Around us, bussers moved through the dining room like a pit crew at Daytona. Tables were cleaned before they looked dirty. Empty glasses vanished. New guests were seated. The machine never stopped moving. Then there's Chef Mason. It's obvious someone in that kitchen understands the difference between cooking food and feeding people. There's technique here. Knowledge. Discipline. But thankfully none of the self-important nonsense that infects so many restaurants once they start believing their own press. Woodfire isn't trying to change your life. It's not trying to educate you. It's not trying to be the coolest restaurant in the room. Like Ferris Bueller, it understands that life moves pretty fast. So instead of chasing trends, it focuses on making exceptional handmade pizza, memorable pasta, serious cocktails, and creating a place where people actually want to spend an evening. In a world full of restaurants desperately trying to be something, Woodfire succeeds by simply being exactly what it is. And that's a hell of a lot rarer than it should be.

Woodfire fits naturally into the heart of Dundee -- relaxed, welcoming, and easy to enjoy. The…read morepizza is the highlight, bringing a fun, flavorful approach that works well for both casual nights out and group dinners. The pasta and appetizers are solid across the board, and the drinks round out the experience nicely. It's the kind of neighborhood spot that may not try to overreach, but consistently delivers a good time and a satisfying meal.

When I called I was very disappointed to hear they discontinued my staple, The Grinder on garlic toast. Oh well...I am flexible... I was exited about the chicken parmesan sandwich in garlic toast, we also ordered a chicken Alfredo, Italian beef and fries. To start with my chicken parmesan WAS NOT on garlic toast (which I paid extra for) the chicken was overcooked, dry and strips. Ate about three bites. The fries we under cooked and soggy and the chicken parmesan had NO flavor. Italian beef was neither good nor bad... Well, anyone can have an off day so I decided I would just stick to their pizza which historically had been delicious. Fast forward to today, I was returning for a 2.5 hour drive and thought I'd treat myself to a delicious pizza for today and preparing for tomorrows incoming snow storm. I picked the pizza up and headed home. Sadly, I should have checked it there before leaving...the bacon was all burnt (tasted burnt not just looked burnt). Yes, I did pick off most of the burnt bacon, but got $30+ for a picked up pizza that is not really ok with me ... beyond that the crust was soggy and I couldn't really pick up the pieces to eat them. It will be an extremely long time before I order or go there again. Makes me very sad as this used to be a staple of mine and it is SOOOO close to home. Good luck if you choose to give them a try...

His service was great and he was eventually assisted by another server. -Wife said ribs were really good. -The kids demolished their spaghetti. -My italian beef was.....look, you just can't get a good italian beef around here. But it was okay. -The pizza....sorry, also only okay (V&V is still the best tavern style pizza in this whole area). All that's fine, this place is definitely somewhere you wanna belly up to the bar and watch a game or chill on the patio with friends. THE PROBLEM: On their website and a lot of other "kids eat free" sites, they list Sundays as kids eat free. In this economy, I appreciate that and we'll usually hit these places up. When our check came and we saw the kids meals charged, we asked and were told, "yeah they haven't updated the website in years." I didn't really want to make a big stink out of them still not honoring the deal because my man was having a tough time, so we tipped accordingly and agreed not to go back. A shame because since moving here 5 years ago, we really want to support local businesses and after finally trying Dannys, the food isn't good enough to bring us back. Having said that, they have a really great beer selection so maybe I'll head back solo or with a buddy to watch the game. But family nights and/or dinner? I'm out!

$40 for THIS? Twice. Never again…read more Let me be very clear I paid $40 for this pizza. FORTY DOLLARS. And this is what showed up at my door, AGAIN. Cheese slid completely off, toppings everywhere, looking like it was kicked down the street before delivery. Check my photos. This isn't an exaggeration. This is the SECOND time this has happened. Same restaurant. Same disaster. Same result. When I called to get this addressed, the manager got on the phone and had the audacity to be dismissive, rude, and deflect blame onto the delivery app instead of taking any responsibility whatsoever. No apology. No refund. No basic customer service. Nothing. Just attitude and excuses. $40 is real money. People work hard for that. To spend it on food that looks like this AND be treated like your complaint doesn't matter is beyond disrespectful. Whoever is managing this place needs to be replaced immediately because the food quality AND the customer service are both failing, and clearly nothing is being done about it. Do yourself a favor and spend your $40 somewhere that actually respects your business. Never. Again. Photos are time stamped
