I have been eating pizza for over 50 years and have eaten pizza all over Chicagoland. Panhandlers has the best pizza in the northwest suburbs. Very few pizza places have slices anymore. This place is fucking awesome!!!! I've lived in Lakemoor for 2 years & I just found out about this restaurant. The pizza is one of the best in the area! The crust tastes amazing but could be a tiny bit thinner. Honestly, that's not even a complaint because the crust has so much flavor! The Italian beef & sausage is spot on! The service over the phone & in person is amazing! I used to order from Sweet Mellisa's but they can't get their shit together. Now, I'll only order from Panhandlers! Great food. Service is typically so-so but they'll eventually get you what you want. Website is from 1995 and can't see a menu online nor can you order online. Always have to call and talk to the high schooler in training. In this day and age I should be able to order online or at least see the menu before calling. Food is good so we go back but I never order anything else besides pizza because I don't know what else they have unless I find the paper menu from 2001 stuffed in a junk drawer. I'd give them more stars if it were easier to order from. I ultimately always hate having to call them and I know the teenagers hate taking calls too. Hoping you guys can get with the 21st century someday. I've ordered far more dominos recently because it's easier. read more

Pizza here is average. The crust is decent, but the sauce is not very good. It's not cooked out enough and doesn't have much flavor. The cheese is very greasy and also not overly flavorful. If you're hungry and looking for ok pizza, this could be your place. The workers have all been nice the few times I've been there and the interior appeared to be clean. read more

I ordered a chicken Caesar wrap. It took a hour for delivery. I asked for 2 dressings for the wrap. They sent none. The wrap it self was inedible. Way too much sharp,nasty cheese. The chicken, what little was there was dry. The "Manager" I spoke with was rude and seemed annoyed saying well, we are short staffed. Perhaps they hire more people so that they aren't serving such Horrible,nasty food. Btw, there was no apology from said manager. read more

This is the best pizza around! We have been getting it every Monday (1/2 price pizza day) for many years. The people that work there really care about their customers. I wish they had a rewards program. Everybody has one and it would be nice to be given the opportunity to get a free pizza every now and then. Overall, this restaurant gets a 5/5 from our family. Just finished off a 14 inch thin pizza from this place. We did a 50/50 Tomato-green pepper-mushrooms-onion veggie side and my husband had sausage pepperoni side. Loved it. The crust was cooked just right ( not fans of doughy crust) and the pizza had a rich flavour to it. My kids always favoured this place and now I remember why. read more

Been here multiple times & I have mixed feelings ...some things are amazing & some not so good. The service has always been good & I have never had anything made wrong or anything forgotten. Every order has always been accurate. I think they should change the name to Panhandlers sandwich shop & drop the pizza bc the pizza is not so good...bland sauce, weird tasting sausage & very greasy. HOWEVER.. their sandwiches, wraps & salads are AWESOME! TONS of yummy choices & haven't had a bad one yet. The "Asian & teriyaki chicken wraps are delicious. The Italian sub salad is hearty choice & portions are generous & prices are reasonable. Another wish for a ZERO star rating from Yelp! WTF is with this place? I hope it closes fast or is sold to a proper restaurant owner. I paid nearly 14 bucks for two "wraps" and I put the quotes because they were barely wrapped! Huge chunks of chicken, lettuce etc, not what I usually get in a wrap. The size of the ingredients made it hard to eat and hence fell unwrapped as I attempted to eat it. I forced down half of it and gave the rest to my dog. I am feeling sorry for putting her through this, but she managed to choke it down.... The other wrap was some sort of chicken bacon thing with ranch. Well, the ranch was served in a little cup, not on the wrap?? Huh? What? Don't you know this is how the wrap sticks together?? Anyway, this was very sad too. I kind of got the vibe that this was what our wraps were gonna turn out to be. We walked in and were not greeted, only a blank stare from some brilliant teenager. Let's start with the service. They were clearly overwhelmed and it's unclear why. We were the only customers in the place when we arrived! We ordered an appetizer, a salad, and two pizzas. They appetizer and salad arrived 10 minutes after the pizza which took well over 20 minutes. It basically is a counter service place with a large bar food menu. The pizza was good. We had the thin crust which was quite crispy. Toppings were scarce and not prepared in the typical pizza topping fashion, such as very large chunks of green pepper. The Asian salad was OK but kind of fast foodish, overwhelmed by gobs of dressing. The garlic pretzels rolls, supposedly a stand out item, could have been better prepared at home. I feel bad for them as they are clearly trying but it doesn't work. With other truly full service pizza places in the area, take a pass on this one. read more

I love the pizza and the deals they have; where you can get two pieces and a pop for five bucks! The best thing on the menu, however, is the Italian beef with cheese melted on top and as you on the side, along with their great fries! Pan Handlers is our go to place for pizza in Wauconda. It's always good when we get it. Much preferred over other places in town.

Pizza is ok. They never have any vegetarian options, so it's almost impossible to go there without calling far ahead in advance.

Everytime I have ever attempted to order Panhandler's "Breakfast Pizza", there is always some excuse or guilt trip as to how long it will take and, essentially, why the kid on the phone doesn't want me to order it. I find this to be unacceptable. A customer should never feel guilty for order something on the menu. Perhaps the employees are just too lazy to make it, because that is the impression that I get. Either take it off the menu, or better prepare your business to meet the demands of the customer. read more

I've come here many times since moving to the area eight months ago, primarily have been getting the deep dish and thin pizza slices that get sold at the counter. When they have slices available that haven't been in the warming rack for too long the food is really good. Unfortunately, it's seems to be a hit or miss situation coming in to buy some slices if they have any to sell. Today on my way home decided to stop (5:03pm) and the warmer was mostly empty, the slices that were available looked dried out. Was told it would be at least thirty minutes for fresh pizza slices. Very disappointing and this has happened way too many times to me. I guess from looking at other reviews the only way to get good food and service consistently is to order and pick up yourself. I'm done with this place because of the constant disappointment of not having food available. read more

I can't say I was overly impressed with the pizza here, but it did the job of satisfying a pizza jones. The sausage was good and the spinach as well, but I wasn't really a fan of the crust, which can make or break a pizza. We had moved to the neighborhood 2 years ago and found some ok pizza but we tried this place last Thursday and was floored at how great the pizza was. We are kind of pizza snobs and this place delivered. We also ordered on Sunday and got the calzones and again were floored at how great they were. This is now our new go-to place for pizza, I am excited to try some of their other food items that the pizza was so great. It's been 3 years since my daughter moved to the area and I finally found a pizza place to return to when I'm out there visiting. We ordered a double decker and a thin crust. I opted to pick up the order myself and we were told it would be about half an hour. The order was just coming out of the oven when I came through the door, the staff was friendly and the pizza was excellent (my wife thought it was a little salty but I disagree). My daughter and grandson enjoyed it too. I will definitely order again next time we are out for a visit. read more

Great pizza. The double decker pizza is some of the best around. I love that this is privately owned and the food is great. I have no idea WTF Scott F. is talking about. Giving Panhandelers a bad rating because the portion was so big it made it hard for him to grip the wrap. Stop being such a sally and learn how to eat with a fork like the rest of the world. Any normal person would be excited to have such a big portion. And complaining about a teenager....get over yourself and learn to read the menu board like my 3 year old can. I have been in this place many times and the menu is as easy as can be. My guess is that Scott F. thought one of the girls behind the counter was cute and she could see what kind of person he really was and decided he doesn't deserve a smile. Pizza is solid. Maybe A little on the salty side, but not much. As with any restaurant that specializes in something, I think sticking to the pizza is a good idea. I had some kind of chicken wrap once and it was fine but nothing more than I could do at home. If you can grab the breakfast pizza, do so. It's really tasty. read more
