Sadly prices up, now a donut is $4... Black sesame was good, though, chewy and not greasy, better than last time I tried. Service was quick and they gave an extra paper to make sure you didn't get too sticky while eating it.
This was the first place I ever had a Mochi Donut. They offer 6 or 7 flavors, and now they also have Doriyaki Pancakes and Mochi Waffles on stick. Everything is made fresh/day of. So when they run out, they close shop. Try to get here early on a weekday. Weekends are a bit tricky.
I thought this was the same place as the Mochi donut place in Hmart, apparently it is not. The flavors were good but it's a MOCHI donut so it should have a chewy texture, that's the only reason I like these donuts, I not like normal donuts. These weren't chewy at all, thumbs down. I'll stick to Mochinut at Hmart.
Absolutely delicious, unique, light, great texture and amazing flavors. Unfortunately, a lot of flavors sold out by the time I purchased (2pm on a Monday). Ordered the matcha, Yuzu citrus, strawberry and cream and cinnamon sugar. Matcha and Yuzu were the winners! Cinnamon sugar I would skip because nothing is unique about it. Good but cannot compete against the other flavors. Buy 5 donuts and get the 6th free for about $30. Highly recommend picking up some donuts when you stop at Mitsuwa. If it's winter time, buy donuts first and leave it in your car then go back to grocery shop. These donuts sell out way too fast!
Walked past after hours and saw the sign that stated they are open until they run out. Knew that I needed to come back as I'm a sucker for stores with limited quantities. So I came back the next morning! Get there early as they sometimes open early. They took down the closed sign 15 minutes early and I was first in line. Immediately there were 8-10 people behind me. So be prepared to wait. Current offer is buy 5 and get 1 free. Pretty good for these little beauties. The donuts are soft and chewy with a light glaze/flavor on top - a nice balance. There's ~8 choices so you can easily try them all. My faves: Matcha and black sesame are subtle and unique flavors. Yuzu is a bright burst of citrus. Less keen on: Oreo doesn't stand out at all. Strawberry is an extremely light flavor and raspberry is a bit fake (admittedly, I rarely like fruit flavors).

They definitely seemed more chewy than the other mochi donut places I've tried. I love how the donuts are pull-apart so it made it really easy to share with my friends. My favorite ones were the Oreo, black sesame, and pumpkin! Overall, we had a really good experience, and this is my fave mochi donut place so far!

This place is quite popular and they will close once they finish selling out the mochi donuts for the day, so definitely pick it up earlier when you get to Mitsuwa. My personal favorite is black sesame flavor - if you are a fan of black sesame definitely give it a try! Also - the texture of their mochi donuts is one of the best I've had in the states. Their donut also do not have any oil flavor in it so I would like to call that part out.
I am so sad that mitsuwa is so far from the city, but also kinda glad it is or else id be getting mochi donuts every day. These are literally the best mochi donuts I've ever had in my entire life. I live in Chinatown and the options I have around me are not comparable to mochimochi. Super light, yet so chewy, like extremely and doesn't feel greasy at all. Often times mochi donuts can feel super oily because it soaks up so much of the oil when they fry it, but not mochimochi's donuts! They're also so pretty! I can't wait for the next time I can get my hands on them!
Finally got to try this new dessert trend! It tasted exactly what I expected when you fuse a donut and Mochi. Moist and chewy - perfect texture. This place had a rotating flavors so it's different everyday. The Ube and Black Sesame were scrumptious!

They have the texture down perfectly and they have various flavors from black sesame, oreo, matcha, strawberry, and vanilla. My personal favorites in order are Oreo, strawberry then matcha. I'm a sucker for Mochi donuts and Kai Sweets always satisfies my fix.
Located inside the Mitsuwa Food Court, this place is pretty good for mochi doughnuts. I bought half a dozen for $18 to go: yuzu, black sesame, strawberry, matcha, oreo and ube. I didn't consume them until 2-3 hours after and one the next day, they're all still bouncy and most importantly "not too sweet". It doesn't taste as dense as a regular American yeast or cake donut, the flavors are not over powering either. I'd definitely recommend this as a dessert, light breakfast or snack!

They only make a set amount everyday. If you don't arrive by probably 3 pm, there's a very high possibility that it's sold out.

Black sesame had perfect amount of flavor, is most popular and delish, caramel almond was unique and sweet, matcha and yuzu had good flavor as expected. Service was fast and courteous, would definitely go back to try other flavors. If I lived closer, I'd become a regular!

Mochimochi Kai Sweets is located inside Mitsuwa Marketplace in Edgewater, NJ. Since 2019, mochimochi Kai Sweets started to offer Mochi Donuts. I love mochi donuts and enjoy the unique texture - springy, a bit chewy, and dense. They are not overly sweet like donuts from Dunkin' Donuts. The mochi donuts from mochimochi Kai Sweets always taste fresh and half a dozen donuts is $20.00. Cash or credit card is accepted. I always like to buy a box to bring home. This most recent time, they had an Earl Grey flavor and I got the Matcha glaze with white chocolate, Black sesame glaze, and White chocolate glaze with oreo. All of them are so exquisite, succulent, and heavenly! read more
Mochimochi Kai Sweets is a small sweets shop inside Mitsuwa Marketplace that focuses mainly on mochi donuts. The setup is simple -- a small counter with trays of the different donut flavors available that day. They also offer a few other items like mochi dorayaki, though the donuts definitely seem to be the main attraction. We picked up four donuts to sample some of the unique flavors that you don't typically see elsewhere. I'm not personally huge into mochi-style desserts, but the family seemed to enjoy them. The texture is different from a traditional donut -- chewy and soft. They're a little pricey for a single donut, but considering the specialty nature of the product, maybe it's appropriate. This is a cute little mochi donut shop. The donuts made here are chewy, and have quite a few cream/frosting flavors you can choose from. The shop will also often have limited-time flavors that they will sell time to time, before switching to another. (My favorite flavor is Apple Harvest, though that one is unfortunately limited-time and seasonal...) The mochi donut shop also sells dorayaki pancakes (which is basically two mochi pancakes with huge fillings between the two, similar to a sandwich), and mochi waffles (also dipped in different cream/frosting flavors). I can't give an opinion about the mochi waffles or dorayaki, as I have yet to try those. However, the mochi donuts I eat from here have always been pretty great. The sweets this shop makes are usually good in quality. Service and the workers here are polite and nice. read more

yummy mochi donut stall can be found inside mitsuwa. offering 6 flavors when we arrived, we chose the sesame, dark chocolate, strawberry and oreo. all were fantastic and cost $20 for 6 donuts. yes, that's a special buy 5 & get one free. read more

This place has - by far - the best Mochi Donuts I've ever had. They are freshly made everyday, they offer a verity of flavors (my favorites are dark chocolate and Oreo) and they basically melt in your mouth. They are in high demand and sell out pretty quickly, so be sure to grab a box or two if you're in the area because these donuts are - an experience. Dropped by only because I was in the market with my brother and his wife on a Saturday morning not long after the store opened for the day. Since it was early, no real line there. I ordered a sampler box to get a taste of most of what they had: yuzu (citrus), black sesame, brown sugar, matcha, and Oreo. Flavor wise - I liked the black sesame and the rest were just ok. I didn't try the strawberry one. While I know they probably have a good deal of customers and need to have stuff ready, I'm torn btwn this spot and the mochi donut spot in chinatown on Bayard, where it was made to order. Textures are the same between the two places. And in both instances it's best to eat then same day as it becomes a bit more chewy in 1-2 days. Convenient to have a spot in a supermarket with hungry shoppers, though! read more

First time trying Mochi donuts. Place had 6 donuts for $15. Tried all different flavors and thought it was very good. Black sesame and Oreo were my favorites. Definitely a different consistency from regular donuts. Enjoyed the chewy texture. read more

An addition to kai sweets located in Mitsuwa market place this spot specializes in mochi doughnuts. The mochi rice flour gives the doughnuts a pleasantly tothsome yet soft chew that is unique to any other doughnut i have eaten. The doughnuts are crisp on the outside when fresh and are topped with a variety of flavors. From American classics like chocolate to Japanese favorites such as matcha to flavors that are rotated out like key lime and yuzu there is something that is bound catch a doughnut lovers attention. Note like all doughnuts these are best fresh but still taste good if reheated and eaten the day after assuming they even make it out of mitsuwa uneaten. read more
