This is not just a bakery. There are impressive sandwiches on the menu…read more The shortrib sandwich is possibly the biggest sandwich you have ever seen! She asked me if I wanted a half or a whole. I thought it would be nice to have leftovers so I ordered a whole. I have leftovers for several meals; I could not finish even one half. Such a good sandwich! In the past I have also enjoyed the chicken pesto sandwich. The shortrib was my favorite. Everything is freshly made to order and the owner is a lovely person and clearly a hard worker. Her pastries are beautiful and the prices are in line with the area. I'm so glad that she is conveniently located here in the village

My mom and I walked around this fairly new development to find lunch, and we definitely made the right choice! They had their offerings posted in a chalkboard outside and the braised short rib bahn mi caught our eye. We went in to order and asked about sizing to see if we should get two things or just one, the lady at the front said that the half bahn mi is large in size and a full bahn mi could feed us both. So we got a full size. SHE WAS NOT JOKING! The piece pictured counts as a half of the sandwich. It was bigger than my labubu! They don't use your typical bahn mi bread, it's more like a ciabatta bread, but it was so delicious! There was a large piece of soft tender short rib perfectly seasoned and vegetables for days! My mom and I stared at it and wondered how we were going to be able to take a bite because it was so huge (don't worry we figured it out) Before leaving we also grabbed a Dubai chocolate cheesecake. What a delicious dessert! My favorite cheesecake that I've had anywhere for sure! A huge plus is that on top of the delicious food was that the the place being clean, inviting, and the people there were so sweet! The lady in the front was super kind and friendly and the people behind the the counter came out to make sure that we loved what we ate (and we did!). Good food and good people. Can't beat that! Also if you are like me and don't like going to places with no parking, there is SOOOO much parking, so don't worry! If you are in the area, I highly recommend checking this place out!

There's actually 2 sandwiches but I ate the other one and took this pic. With the meal it comes with a bag of chips and a drink.

Wow! We went on a Saturday morning ie 8 am and some of the flavored donuts were already sold out…read more The service was awesome. It is behind the 76 gas station food court area. There is parking and there are plenty of tables to sit & enjoy. There are signs indicating where the food court area is located. It is nice and ample to eat your Malasada or donut. Prices are from $5 to $6 each. We had the Ube 10/10 and Creme Brulee 10/10. I will definitely return.

I stopped by here earlier today with my father for a morning treat. We found Paradise Bakery Hawaii…read moreon Yelp while I was looking for a bakery near Kailua-Kona. This spot is located in a food court area and was actually the only place open when we arrived. Since it is a stall, there is not too much to say other than there were two people working and a large display case filled with donuts, with malasadas in the back. After looking things over I asked if they had a lilikoi circle donut. They did not, but they recommended a strawberry glazed donut with lilikoi filling and I went with that. It came out nicely decorated with a pink glaze and a small dab of cream on top with a butterfly. When I bit into it I was happy with the flavor. The donut itself was light and fluffy and the strawberry glaze was solid. The real standout though was the lilikoi filling, which had that great balance of sharpness and sweetness and paired really well with the donut. My dad ordered a coconut malasada and said it was really good as well. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. They had a big selection of donuts, I enjoyed mine, and I would like to try their malasadas next time.

The strawberry mochi is always a favorite but we love the nectarine, pear, and melon ones too. Whatever is in season, I recommend getting! It is worth the price! Order ahead if you can, then you won't have to stand in line. And I always eat these up so fast that I forget to take photos!!

Don't do what I (tried to) do. They do not take same day orders…read more In Hilo for the day, and my awesome BIL agreed to take me to 2LK to get some mochi. Hubs has a sweet tooth, and I like the sweet mochi myself. The line to place my order was completely empty! All the folks standing around were waiting for their orders. I stepped in the tiny storefront and placed my custom order and then grabbed a tray of buttermochi that was ready to go. After paying, I asked how long was the wait time and the cashier said 20-30 minutes. Instead of standing around, I went back to the car and hung out with BIL and watched for the people who were before me to get their orders and leave. I waited outside for about 5 minutes before they called my name and my mochi order was ready to go. There were some tourists who came by who didn't want to wait for 30 minutes and were ready to turn around and leave, but I told them there were ready made packages that they could grab and go, the rest of us were waiting on custom orders. They were really happy to hear that and they bought their mochi and headed out. I will definitely call ahead next time I go to Hilo, the wait is small kine humbug, but the mochi is oh so ono! (translated: the wait is an inconvenience, but the mochi is very delicious).
