We went to Moby's quite a few times during our honeymoon a couple of decades ago and loved it! Now under new ownership, we weren't sure what to expect. We were blown away. The decor is typically pubby, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Two cool things we noticed right away: 1. The service was friendly and welcoming and 2. The owner was one of the people we dealt with. I like that. Regarding the food, my wife had salmon, potatoes and green beans, which she raved about. I had been told about their duck wings and had the meal version, which included rice and green beans. I also had the "Turbo Sauce" which upped the spice game. They were delicious, with just the right amount of heat. If you are looking for a nice pub on Salt Spring Island, I recommend Moby's. read more

They are happy to accommodate dietary restrictions as best they can and the servers are always very patient and kind. Josie was out server on a particularly busy night and she worked her butt off to keep everyone feeling happy and taken care of. Moby's is fantastic!! They have poutine with REAL CURDS FROM QUEBEC!!! You can't go wrong with that!! Ever! If you are on salt spring stop by Moby's. Try the poutine. Try the beer. They serve the island beers and ciders. They also serve other beers, so they can cater to many different people. We had dinner on a Saturday night. It was hopping but we found a table. I had the Warm Duck and Kale salad, which was my favorite meal of the whole trip! But, the most extraordinary thing about this pub is their honesty and integrity. I left my wallet at the pub, and left the island the next morning. I discovered the wallet was missing on the ferry. They found my wallet and mailed it to me in the states. Everything was in it when I received it. I will be forever grateful to them!! read more

Delicious food, cold drinks and amazing staff, and a great view - what's not to love??! :) We've been here almost every weekend this summer ... it's one of our favourite pubs to visit during boating season. The staff here are doing an amazing job with the covid protocols, and also handling customers who don't seem to get that we are in the middle of a pandemic!! We've heard numerous people complain about the 6 person max, not being allowed to hop tables, etc etc. The servers have handled the situations professionally and respectfully. Big shout out to Emily, Jordon, Matt and all the other fantastic hostesses, servers we've come to know and have fun with, and the bartenders and kitchen staff behind the scenes that we don't meet ... you guys make it so much fun for us to come back every time! read more

The duck wings are great! The service wasn't great though :( We stayed until closing and when I realized the time I was rushing to finish up but were told by staff that they wait 30 minutes until after for people to finish up. So we made sure we left within 20 minutes and when I went to the washroom we heard the staff actual cheer as we left. The Long Island Ice teas and Mojitos were sugar water. There was little or no alcohol. It was akin to theft. I thought the first one was just a mistake. Nope, ordered another and the same. My wife had the same experience with her Mojitos. It was stand up comedy night and we were seated next to the stage during the show. Not an opportune time to send things back. We went there for music bingo night and it was spot of fun. The beer on tap deal that night was decent. However, we ordered fries for starters and 2/3 of the bowl was fries scraps. Like, little pieces of fries instead of a normal fry. Also, we ordered 2 salads. The cranberry chicken salad was great, but the Caesar salad was not worth the price. People kept telling us to go to Hastings House, up the hill from Moby's. And we did. The next night we went to Moby's, and I have to say for less than half the price, the food and atmosphere were twice as good. It's a pub, with a solid bar and a menu that's creative, flavorful, playful and yummy. The wait staff are funny, friendly and good at their jobs. Unless you want white tablecloths, don't bother going up the hill. Enjoy an evening on the water at Moby's. read more

Cool pub and all but it seemed quite pricy. For one, there was a cover at the door for the band which didn't start until an hour after we arrived. We were almost ready to go and barely heard any music and had to pay cover for that! I would suggest they allow people in and do not charge cover until the band is actually ready to start. You also cannot see the band from many of the spots anyway! The drinks seemed a bit pricy as well. Food was okay. read more

Went here on a recommendation fro our Air BnB host. Sat on the patio that was nice. Server was not very attentive took like 10 min to get even water. Wings mediocre. Fries bland gravy nothing to write home about. I had the duck and kale salad Stated topped with a light balsamic. When it got to me it was sliding all over the plate drenched in oil. The waitress never returned to see how things were so by the time she came back my husband was finished. He had the beef brisket - was ok but again mediocre. Trivia was a hit! They made us feel like family and the food was great! A definite recomendation for late evening eats to watch the sunset, or a filling meal with friends. Can't really say much about this place other than the kitchen closes too early. For a pub/restaurant open until midnight, situated nearby a ferry terminal whereby the last ferry docks at 9.30pm, yet the kitchen is closed at 10pm was disappointing. Food is solid and the prices are reasonable for the fresh ingredients and portions (more than I could eat.). My husband had the salmon bowl two days in a row!! We loooooved it. We sat outside. The staff was really nice and accommodating. They moved people around so that we could get a table. The food was excellent. Me and my girlfriends ate here today. Overall good experience lovely view and great food. The only real negative is the service. 3 of us arrived first and we were not offered a drink or appetizer menu while we waited 15 minutes for the rest of our party to arrive. They were also out of tuna for the tuna bowls but we happily ordered salmon bowls instead and they were Asian inspired and delicious. Was a bit put off by an item called fish "chunks and chips" the name reminded me of vomit so we didn't order that. Went to Moby's tonight after hearing about the duck wings! They were outstanding! However the shrimp and avocado salad was unappetizing and featured lettuce. The dressing was difficult to comprehend, there was no crispy rice, the avocado bits were tiny and the shrimp were smelly and slimy. My husband's Ruben was barely edible and the meat smelled revolting. Neither of us finished our main meals which NEVER happens!! But the ambience was lovely and the music was terrific - so go for the wings! read more
